3 H'capper here, I've fitted the jumbo-max ultralight XS str8 fit to all my clubs except for my two wedges which I've just beefed up with masking tape layers. All fit in my Titleist individual club slot cart bag no problems whatsoever. They feel great, I went with the fitting guide suggested by jumbo-max as I'm a medium cadet glove, can adequately work the ball either way because i picked the correct suggested grip size. I can't emphasise this point enough really, far too many RU-vid reviews show testers jumping straight in with the original heavier/bigger sizes that are too big for their hands/palm-finger grip, the heavier original versions of these grips then skew the swing weighting making the swing-weight lighter effectively and therefore the results of the reviews are predominantly negatively reported against the grips imho. Since fitting these lightweight jumbo grips in my recommended size, I'm more comfortable gripping/swinging all clubs and importantly, more confident over the shot with no loss of distance and also an improvement in accuracy as a result😁👍

I tried the jumbo max xl light on my driver and it is awesome. My snap hook miss is now gone. I hit it dead straight and can go after it as I hard as I can without the dreaded left hook miss. I then put them on my 9, Pw,sw , lob and totally eliminated the left miss when I try to hit them aggressively. The ball seems to fly higher with all clubs and definitely straighter. I am awaiting the arrival of the rest now to complete the set. The only trouble is fitting 14 clubs in the damn bag with those grips. Another important fact is those of us older guys with some arthritis in the hands will just love the cushioned effect of the grips. Will see how well they hold up as they are rather expensive and a total pain in the butt to change. Requires some pretty strong effort. Great review. They are definitely a game changer…assuming you want to hit it higher, straighter , and longer.

Hi Andy, I've been using the Jumbo Max grips for 4 years now and they are great, my fingers never hurt anymore which they did with reg grips on. I did change over my whole bag except the putter and I use the med size. I will keep using these for the rest of my golf days.

I'm considering going all-in on large grips. I played with a friend the this summer that had them on a couple of clubs I hit and felt a noticeable difference at the top of my swing. I had more control of the club on my downswing seeing I never lost contact with the grip and or grip pressure at the top. The golf industry has conditioned everyone to believing standard size grips are the way to go regardless of hand size. Much of this has to do with complete sets being sold with standard length shafts and grips in order to best cater to the masses. However, if you have large hands, like me, you often lose control of the club at the top due to grip pressure having been lost due to the grip size being too narrow a profile. What people fail to realize is that to regain control you virtually are regripping the club at the beginning of the downswing which causes the head to be slighly open or closed at address. I think too many of the golfing public look at large or oversize grips being something experimental or for freaks like Bryson Dechambeau, but I firmly believe many amateur golfers would benefit from swtiching to larger grips.

Switched to Golf Pride CP2 tour midsize grips three-four years ago. Have them on all clubs, except putter which has a big'ish grip. Handicap has gone down. Hitting the ball straighter is a good thing. 😁 If I want to work the ball , I do have to adjust my set up. But in the main, just hit it straight.

Having looked into these I put the medium ultralite grip on my driver and love it definitely makes me hit straighter and higher. Plus the ultralite version are similar in weight to standard grips so don’t change the swingweight of the club. People should be aware the standard jumbomax are heavy grips. This will make your clubs feel a lot lighter which could mean the added expense of getting a club fitter to adjust. So the ultralites are an easy swap. Just really hard to get hold off at the moment in the uk.

New golfer who’s only been playing 13 months before I changed my grips a good game for me was 17/18 over and i changed to a baseball grip with mcc plus 4 golf pride grips. So still a lot thinner than ones you are using but noticeable thicker than standard grips, first game I shot 15 over then 11 and 9 over and now consistent shooting 10/11 over. So I have seen a huge improvement going to a thicker grip and my driver now goes lazer straight 80% of the time and no more bad slices

I also have been intrigued by this. I see Mr Peter Finch has switched to these as well. I suffer from a snap hook from time to time and a larger grip definitely helps me with that. I’m with you on it being strange on the irons so I went jumbo on the woods and just and oversized on the irons. Can slightly work the irons with these with less of a snap hook. Jumbo on the irons was almost impossible to work the irons at all. Thanks great vid! 👍

Love these grips. I use a XXL golf glove and found the JumboMax XL grip to be a perfect fit. As someone who had a tendency to sometimes re-grip and very often flip my hands…these are a god send. Ball goes straighter an 10 yards longer (which took some time to adjust too!) because I believe my hands and arms are significantly more relaxed during the swing. Never going back!

For the last year, I have used the Lamkin ACE Jumbo grip with 2 extra wraps. Took a little getting sed to, but I now really love them. The most important improvement is that after 18 holes, my hands fell much better . They also seem to work better in cold wet conditions.I did have to go to a stronger right hand gris, but that was a minor adjustment.

Jumbo max are brilliant on wedges. I only have them on my wedges. 60" - 53* Then Iron's go back to normal Midsize. My Iron's I was fading too much with the JMs However, with the wedges you get complete control around the greens. Shot's feel less flippy and more smooth. You do get used to having the mix in your bag. Just as you get used to having different lenghts in your shafts...If feels normal after just a small amount of practice.

Purchased a used fairway metal that had a jumbo grip. This was first time I have used this type grip and love it. For me I think I actually grip the club lighter with the jumbo grip and this helps me use my hands and wrists more freely in my swing. Sometimes I feel like I’m hanging on to the club with regular grips. This feeling either subconscious or conscious might be the difference for me. Will be changing to all jumbo grips

Really liked the Winn Excel Wrap oversize grips and used them for a few years but they just did not hold up very long and are not cheap. I have big hands and some arthritis so having a larger grip helps a lot. I switched to the Jumbo Max this year and love them. I just get a real solid confident feel when I grip my clubs now. I tried a few sizes and ended up with a mix which for me works well. I use the large on my driver, mediums down to my PW then the small size on my SW and LW. I like a more tactile feel when I am taking less than a full swing so the smaller size made sense. Bigger can be better.

Great video! As a relatively young man (@41 years old) with the early onset of arthritis due to goalkeeping injuries to my hand and someone who has always struggled with his grip JumboMax Ultralite in large have absolutely revolutionised my game. I can now play and practice with no pain and no hand fatigue at all. With regards to the ‘all or nothing question’, I’ve had to go all in and you are right that the regular grips now feel so alien to me I can’t see me ever going back with the results I am now seeing. I have nothing but positive thoughts about these grips and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them to anyone. If in doubt give them a go, keep an open mind and you may be really surprised!!

It all makes sense, if you rotate a jumbo grip say 1mm it will have less effect than rotating a thin grip by the same distance. Simple maths. With the extra width will also help cushion the hands more! We should all be using them! Nice vlog!👍

Andy, I did it in slow progression (but with the Mid-Sized +4s): 1st the driver, then a 7 iron, and then the wedges - and the craziest thing is I LOVED the wedges the most. Since you are clearly going down this route, do a Wedge Comparison Test Video when you take both your 2 wedges (54/60 - or whatever you use) and then have a set with these bigger grips on and compare the 50-yard pitch, 25-yard pitch, green-side flop, greenside tight lie, and then bunker shot. I think honestly you will love bigger grips on the wedges.

Sir I want your channel often. I am 80 years old and still trying to get tips. I experimented with straight non-tapered grips when the putter grips came out. I put a mid slim superstroke putter grip on my driver which I know for some reason is illegal. Of course it had the flat top grip and I use a 10 finger baseball grip. It immediately felt powerful and faded to the right until I begin to adjust my stance and actually turn my right hand further to the right facing the target and widened my stance and did a more sweeping move and I was amazed at the distance and the accuracy and it came through to all of my irons. I investigated it further and found it was similar to the swing by the legendary Moe Norman. How many have said I am 80 years old and it bothers me because I am so enthusiastic now and worried about the time I have left to stay vertical. I like your videos.

I have played to JM Ultralite in small on the full set for a year and I am not going back to standard sizes again. I had so much hand and wrist pain in my first season and I just don't deal with that now. They don't replace a proper swing (can still slice and hook), but it is easier on the hands and they make it easier to just put the hands on consistently, release on time and the ball goes straight.

Andy, for me (I'm 64, index 4.8) I struggled with the jumbo's on my irons, especially on the scoring irons (8-wedges) but they work really well with the woods and hybrids. I tried both ways---all, and partial. For me, they are now on my driver, 5 wood and the two hybrids. NOW...and BUT... as a result of the testing, I also went to a mid-size Winn dritac on my irons. Signed, absolute mental patient!

I went all in with the XL on all clubs. I find I can get the club face to square every time, easier. To shape a shot, I open or close the club face at setup and it gives me a more accurate draw or fade because my hands will always make it back to where they were at setup. I used to snap over the top every once in a while with regular sized grips but those days are gone. Being so much larger, it feels like you really have to try to turn the club over.

Hi Andy in my humble opinion in the old days I used to build my grips up 7 layers under the right hand 9 under the left, this help me to stop snatching from the top, leading to a square face at impact, I haven't tried the jumbo XL as yet on order 😂😂. I would think without trying them it will do the same thing and possibly stop you coming over the top as you will become aware of were your hands are in the swing leading to a squared club face. cheers Peter.

Yes. I use midsize and normally put 2 wraps of tape on. I Just watched Peter Finch do a video on Bryson's grips and how they have helped him, The other day I put a Jumbo CP2 Pro grip on with 2 wraps - I can feel my hands on the club. Game Changer. I'll probably stick with Midsise because they are easier to find (Lamkin Sonar+) but I'm going to experiment with 4 or see if I can get 5 on there.

I recently switched to jumbo grips and the result of been stunning. I have big hands to begin with and I’m left-handed. I spent six months troubleshooting why all my shots were going to the left even though my body was open to the target I was hitting the ball square each time, and I could literally turn parallel and be standing completely straight and still have my shots go left. I finally discovered that the reason they were going left in my case, was because my dominant hand was the one putting the power in to the shot at address through follow through. Once I increased the grip so that my right hand fit firmly around it I’m now able to keep that right hand in front of the ball and control the club more. Shots are straighter and shots are higher. My handicap went from a 28 to a 15 over a period of about four weeks practicing every day and playing five rounds of golf.

Hi Andy.I am impressed with these grips, firstly they are much more comfortable in my ageing hands.They have a cushioning feel that gives a more confident feeling grip.As you noted they do straighten your shots,I also noticed I was hitting irons off toe[not woods/driver],weakening grip solved this instantly[courtesy of Australia's own _-fitzygolfpro]. Then well hit shots were straight as a dye.The next problem was more my technique of not getting weight shift and body rotation to activate on downswing and balls would then go right, with these grips they are more sensitive to these faults than thinner ones on a comparison trail I did .Again once addressing faults perfection.I think they are longer for me with all clubs.Another feature is they take no time at all to get used to.One aspect of them I would like discussed is how different your hand grip must be -for me it's a weaker grip and as grip much thicker ,orientation is more difficult to get your eyes and hand sense orientated to get the chosen hand grip

I have a JumboMax Ultralite L on my 7 iron. I tend to over-draw the ball and the grip has definitely helped to keep it straighter. As someone else commented, you have to be very careful what bag you use and not many will take the jumbo grips. I'm about to go for a Ogio Woode 15 which appears to be large enough. My one criticism of the grips is that my Mizuno MP20 7 iron now sounds rather "clicky" and I have lost quite a bit of feel. Whether this is enough to stop me getting the whole set done, time will tell!

I think I’m a no on the irons though I have not increased my grip size on hybrid and 5W . . . I like it, time will tell how effective this will be

I’ve put JumboMax grips on my driver 3w and 5w. Midsize MCC plus 4 grips on all others. I’m only just starting out with the trial for the JumboMax but I can already identify with your point about the difference in feel between the two different sizes of grips. I think you need to go all or nothing. BTW have you seen that Peter Finch has recently put JumboMax grips on all of his clubs?

I have small hands and started experimenting with different grips about 1.5yrs ago. Currently playing with mid size. I tried the Jumbo grips (xsmall) 6 months or so ago. The xsmall jumbo grip was about the same step up as from regular grip to mid size. I went back to mid size after a couple of months. Although.....I've been trying to keep my hands a lot less active in the swing lately, so the jumbo grips might work better with that kind of swing. The jumbo grips come in a number of different sizes......at some point I might give the xsmall ones another try. Certainly wasn't a negative result from my point of view.

@fredhicks7483
@fredhicks7483 Год назад
@@JohnnyLREACTS I've been using Lamkin full cord midsize. I like the mcc+4, but they are more expensive and I like cord all the way down the grip. I end up putting 3 or 4 extra tapes at the bottom and then 2 or 3 full layers of tape on to get the grips a little bigger since the Lamkin aren't as thick. I'll probably just fork up the money and get the mcc plus4 next time, they have cord on the top half of the grip. I won't go back to regular size grips. If you are thinking about changing and don't re-grip your own clubs...you can just have the pro shop put a mid size on one club to see if you like it.

I have nothing but good things to say about jumbomax grips. I use them and love them. But if you are interested in them, make sure your golf bag accepts the size of grip. Bags with individual slots for clubs are pretty tight. I have a ping DLX bag and the biggest grip I can get into the slot is medium. So just check your bag before you order. But as I said, I recommend them.

I trialled these Grips initially because I was struggling with arthritis in my fingers & thumbs and it got so bad that I was contemplating giving up the game altogether. For me, they work and I can now play golf pain-free. I put the Jumbomax Grips on my Driver, Wood & Hybrids first, then fitted them to my Irons and finally put them on my Wedges. Once you start using Jumbomax Grips traditional sized grips feel tiny! So my advice is that you need to go all-in and Jumbomax all your Clubs. The problem that I have now is that I find it almost impossible even to hold onto a standard Grip, so testing new Clubs is really hard to do!
@rufussthoo4083
@rufussthoo4083 2 года назад
Hey Bandit. That's an good point about testing clubs. That would become very tricky as you'd never know if the test club wasn't working because of the head/shaft or the grip. As a matter of interest, which size JumboMax have you chosen and, something none of the testers mention, how soft/spongy are they compared to a regular grip like a Tour Velvet?
@banditbaker1675
@banditbaker1675 2 года назад
Hey Rufuss, one benefit is that it has stopped my random/impulse testing/buying of golf clubs👍 Going forward I may have to buy a "spare" Grip to facilitate Testing (though I would be limited to testing at facilities with a compressor to blow off Grips. Great question, I suppose this depends upon your hand size, in my case I use a large size glove. I trialled the Jumblomax Ultralites in their Medium (+5/16") & Small (+1/4") sizes to make sure that I got them optimised. I ended up with a mixture of sizes, Wedges & Irons & Hybrids have the medium grips, my Driver has the small-sized grip. When I was testing I found that the Medium size was perfect on my Wedges & Irons & hybrids but on the Driver, with the medium-sized grip I was tending to leave the face open so I dropped down to the Small size and this is now perfect👍👍 Just one further point, my main reason for changing to Jumbo Grips was acute arthritis (mainly in my left thumb). With the larger Grips I have now modified how I hold my clubs with my left hand (I'm Right handed). Instead of laying my left thumb down the shaft (and laying my right hand over my thumb which was the root of the pain). I now wrap my left thumb around the shaft (as if I was holding a hammer). This change in grip took a couple of rounds to get used to but I am now able to play Golf pain-free and my Ball striking (thanks to the Jumbomax Grips and my grip change) is now better than it has ever been!

@@rufussthoo4083 sorry I just spotted the last part of your question. They feel pretty comparable to a GP Tour Velvet, though because the Jumbomax Grips are larger you don't have to grip them as tightly as you would a standard Grip. Also because they are not made of Rubber they do have a slightly different texture, but you get used to this very quickly. I hope that helps👍

@@banditbaker1675 Thx Bandit. I have very strong hands, and no arthritis (yet) thankfully. So for me, I can still get a lot of grip pressure while not having any tension in them. I probably don't need them for that but quietening the hands down through release could still be a benefit. I wear an L glove too so I'll buy a medium and give it a go. Cheers.

My clubs have descending grip sizes. My Driver 3 wood and 3 hybrid have standard jumbo grips. My irons and wedges have a thinner corded grip and my putter? It's 80 years old and I doubt that grip was ever changed. It's less than small and not tackey at all ...every feel of the ball and head impact translates to my hands ... I will never regrip my putter. PS tell Ann I got an e-x4 with a 15-55 so I can finally take video up to her scratch. The pallette is incredible on this video, lush skin tones, dripping honey light. Sweet greens. A cornicopia of the visual sense

I'm 71 and I recently switched to this Jumbo Max Ultralight on all my clubs except the driver. At first I got a lot of straight shots that pushed slightly right. I did nothing to consciously correct this except that I now aim more to the left and all is well. Why did I switch to a jumbo grip? Arthritis. And yes, it does help alleviate the pain. They feel great. Caution. Just be sure you try the grip as you try to put it into your bag. The first one I tried wouldn't fit in the individual holes I had in my new bag so I went back to the pro shop and chose the Small version. Still loving it.

I'm regripping everything with midsize, had a .580 undersize, and had lots of low hooks,plus the clubs were 1/2" too long. Plus my body weight was 200 pounds,5'4". Now I'm 145 pounds, swing change out to in,shorter clubs,bigger grips, hello high fade. The bigger grips will produce higher ball flight, perhaps less distance, but it beats the hooks. They say you can talk to a fade but a hook won't listen, and it's true.⛳

I've ordered a couple of these grips on the back of your previous video, thinking it will keep me occupied as a winter trial, I ordered one normal, and one ultra light, which could be my undoing. I have an in to out swing and my horror shot is that dirty mishit hook, so I'm encouraged by your words in second video. As a 3hcp, I can quite comfortable day that for my level, I am without doubt THE WORST fairway wood player on the planet, so was hoping these grips may give some improvement in this dept. Andy could I ask? What weight grips do you have? Have you tried the standard weight? There seems to be quite a difference, and I'm a bit anxious about putting the heavy one on my driver, making it feel a little light, and mucking about with feeling, swing rythmn, and speed with my driver, as it's generally a very good club. Very interesting videos Andy, really. Would love to hear your thoughts on wedges and what they feel like/results differences. Thanks mate, grateful!!
