Voltage isn’t enough to hurt somebody. 12V won’t likely push the amperage through the skin. It should be fine. On the off chance it isn’t, well, have somebody standing by with a defibrillator

@@lemorewilliams7981 when I look back at the 70s and 80s I think of all the crazy things people did its amazing I'm still alive today. I only wish my brother was still here with us to enjoy the memories. Aside from that I also think of how most parents would just stand back and watch their kids and not really do much unless a major injury took place! Now days my parents would probably be jailed by child protective services for all the crazy things they allowed us to do! That being said I believe this also explains why so many gen x people seem to have more balls than most other people. Lol. It's not really more guts or more balls. It's that we've had the experience of being shocked this way and it seems like so much less trauma as compared to the mental anguish of waking up daily! A little shock from something like this is a subtle reminder that we are alive and that's a good thing. Lol

@@jaejordan-if2ut the video is totally accurate with the acception of newer vehicles computers can present an issue and this may not be a good idea with a vehicle rated obd 2 or newer. ( 1996 and up) saw a friend fry the ECM using this method in a Chevy cobalt? I think that's what it was called. Lol

The starter is what gets your engine going by engaging the fly wheel. It's about the size of a football. The starter solenoid is simply a switch which engages or pushes out the starter pinion gear into the flywheel ring gear when you turn your vehicle's key. This was bad on my vehicle and what I was "jumping" in this video. The starter relay is a little black box located in your fuse box usually under the hood. It has 3 prongs which plug into the fuse box. It opens an closes the circuit when you turn the key in the ignition. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

This was months ago but he’s bridging the signal contact from the battery to the top left there. But I’m not sure how to distinguish the top two on another starter without taking a closer look. Maybe it’s obvious based on how they’re wired.

You make sure the vehicle is in park, then you turn the key all the way forward and leave it there. Then you crawl underneath and jump the starter. So in essence by jumping the starter, you're doing the same thing as trying to start it with the key. Hope that makes sense.

All the way forward much as it can. Not the pressing part where you press and let go. Just all way forward as he says. 💯

Why neutral and not park?

Your vehicle should most definitely NOT be in neutral. It SHOULD be in PARK to prevent vehicle movement.

In park if automatic In neutral if manual

yeah you can on older cars , you can bridge or wack starter , but on ''newer sophisticated garbage of so call cars , its very risky , you can fried something .

No. Turn the key into the forward position and leave it, then jump the starter solenoid. This is a one person trick. When you jump the solenoid you're doing the same thing as if you were inside your vehicle turning the key forward and turning it over.

@LegitLaughs1 autozone said it was 100% and I also have warranty on the battery maybe they dont wont to exchange it ill take it again tomorrow, tried it again 1 hour ago worked normally, 20 minutes later battery dead it's reading 9 volts. Thinking maybe the alternator somehow just gave out prematurely it's only 2 yrs old and so is the battery, I'll troubleshoot tomorrow, appreciate the response. Much Respect!

I think the starter 😂 I tapped it like the video and it did spark but than all dashboard lights went out and nothing happened. I think it is my starter though just completely dead needs to be replaced. Thank you for the video though 😊

You mean when you're in the vehicle? Could be the starter solenoid, could be the battery. 2 most common issues.

@@CringeComedyTV just the way you did it, the solenoid works but it won't turn.

You need to make sure your 2 contact points are fairly clean firstly to ensure a good path. What exactly is happening when you're jumping your starter solenoid?

@@CringeComedyTV Hey I wasn’t expecting a reply so fast, but thanks so much! When I put the screwdriver on there nothing happens lol. When I touch the screwdriver to the connections it generates sparks but does nothing. When I turn the key to start it makes no sound. It was a click before but now it makes no noise.

@gubpub2265 step 1 is make sure you have a fully charged battery.

Wrong. I bench tested it and it was junk. The contact points were all clean. Just because there's surface rust doesn't mean the connections are bad.

Yes. This video was taken using my truck as an example.

Depends where your starter solenoid is located. On this particular vehicle I had to crawl underneath it on the ground.

I tested the solenoid independently and it needed to be replaced. This wasn't meant as a trouble shooting guide but rather a quick fix tutorial to get people back on the road in a pinch.

Metal screwdriver, plastic handle. You need something metal and electrically conductive but you do not want to touch that part, especially if anything gets wet.

Well any piece of metal but you'd want to have a grip piece, cause the results may be shocking!

Sounds like your battery is 💀

The stall was not by me. Randomly lost power causing a stall. That’s why I believe it to be the alternator.

Best way to tell if your alternator is bad is by jump starting your vehicle. Once it starts remove the jumper cables. If it dies shortly thereafter your alternator needs to be replaced.

If it keeps running after you disconnect the jumper cables your battery is probably bad.
