Junctional tachycardia is an abnormal rhythm that rises from the electrical structures in the AV junction (AV node or Bundle of His).
These structures begin acting as the primary pacemaker of the heart, instead of the SA node.

Some of the important characteristics of this rhythm is that it will be regular but FAST (greater than 100 bpm).
The P waves can be abnormal, appearing before, after, or hidden within the QRS complex. On leads aVF, II, and III, the P wave can be inverted (upside down).
