Thanks for watching buddy and that looks like some great feed on your last video. It has a lot of mung beans in it and those are really great for pigeons
They're lovely!😊 We have a homing pigeon in our area who stopped here to rest from a long-distance flight, he's been on our market for a week now, he's the star, I feed him and give him water, the local vendors support him too😀 I contacted the owner - very nice man!😊 A girlfriend is waiting for that pigeon back home buy he needs to regain strength after the flight before coming home🕊️💨
Good luck with the homing pigeon. Although he sounds like he found a new home now. It’s always interesting to see what they will do. Thanks for watching my video and good luck with that baby you found
Hi Mike, Thanks for fixing the video that I could watch. The birds look great I love the way you load the birds to Truck and makes it easy to transport and release. The roller look wonderful. There are one or two that always go to the trees but gradually they will learn. Good luck on the training. Thanks again I always enjoys your videos.
Yes my friend, for some reason the video loaded directly to public view and I wasn’t finished with it. That never happened before but I guess I need to keep an eye on that. Thanks for watching yeah and your rollers are looking great alsop
Pls try pulling 9 and 10 of the primary feathers of half of your team. On the other half leave the feathers alone to natural molting. Lets see which method is better.
You should just toss them in the morning as the races will be released in the AM. I wouldnt do anything with the flights, just train them out to 45 miles...jump them 3-4 miles at a time until you get to 15 or so then larger jumps and release at same place if they have any trouble, thats my advice and how i trained mine.
@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons yes I take my time with my birds patience is the way but the birds are more than ready for 50 miles but what's the rush everything is time be careful and continue what your doing 🤫💪💪
hello. i think the stubborn ones are the smartest ones, because the feel safe, watching over everyone, just in case something drops on them from above. And i think they can fly longer than others if given a chance. thnks.
That’s an awesome idea with the truck shoot brother! As far as clipping the flights, it’s at your own discretion. Iv done it the last couple of years but my reasoning for doing it is most of my club does it and I’d hate to loose to them just over them doing something I should have done. With that being said my friend Jerry in the club is an old timer and doesn’t have the health to do too much with the the birds and he still wins all the time without clipping flights. So I don’t know how much it really helps and I hate loosing 35 days keeping them in while they re-grow their flights. So like I say it’s at your own discretion. And you couldn’t have asked for a better training toss! Those birds aren’t messing around brother. Your doing a great job! Good luck and god bless
There is some great information. I really appreciate that brother. Losing five or six weeks of training really isn’t very appealing to me as well. I’m glad you like the truck bed idea. I have 60 birds and just needed something to simplify the training a little. I like listening to the old-timers too. I doubt I will clip the wings and pull the feathers. Just doesn’t seem like a logical thing anymore. I will say that I have just as many people saying to pull the feathers as not to pull them so that tells me a lot in itself. I hope everything is going well blessings loft take care and God bless
I only have one in there because so many people wanted young birds. I wish I had 10 in there because the one that is in there is doing great but I also have about 10 that are half Rocky Ridge white in there and 3 pure white Mortdvits
The rollers haven’t gotten all that much air time. But it is very hot here and humid. The homing pigeon‘s are in excellent shape so if they are breathing hard it’s only because of the heat. Thanks for asking
How do you get your racing pigeons to fly that long, My kit has been flying together for 3 months but they fly 15-20 mins maximum How do I get them to fly longer
I would suggest flying them early in the morning before it gets too hot. And make sure their feed is lite and the birds are not too heavy. When I used to have a lot of corn in the feed birds would only fly for 15 minutes.
Great video Mike, thanx for sharing. My club seems pretty close to the vest with any help or advice also also, One of the reasons I subscribe to you and others. Plus I've gotten a lot of feed back on my channel for what I am doing right or wrong. Keep up the great work.
Thank you my friend. We can can only do what we think is best. Sometimes I think no advice would be best. When you follow others advice you will get the same results they get. Time for something new!
I have done cut the 9th & 10th feather in the past but if you do you can’t train for 6 weeks. But if you make sure turn on the lights on in middle of July until 11:00pm they will not lose any flight feathers and you keep training
Get them out to 10-12 miles before clipping 9 & 10. 5 days after clipping them, you'll need to pull them. Clipping alone doesn't start the molt it only assures that the quills are dry before pulling them so you aren't dealing with blood quills that can damage the wing. If you're going to do that you might as well pull a few of the center tail feathers (the deck) as well.
@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons well mine are 1.5 months old at the moment and fly around the loft majority of the time ... 1st they are young and 2nd its 46°C everyday so i m looking forward for September when the temperature starts falling cuz in this temperature flying is almost impossible
@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons yep man thats the only time they actually want to fly... the remaining day they are inside the loft to protrct themselves from heat... atm i m focusing on getting more ybs so that when its winter i can go to full lenghts in training 🙂
Beautiful my friend birds looking very nice...im struggling with my birds circling they circle for about fifteen minutes come back and looks like they can't keep their beaks close.
I was having the same problem with my White homers last summer and come to find out I was overfeeding and giving way too much corn. Once I lowered their weight and stop giving corn altogether they were back to flying without getting exhausted. I’m not saying that is the problem with yours I’m just telling you what happened with my birds. I hope it helps because you have some really great birds.
Your birds are in great condition flying around the loft for 50 mins after one mile training. They are ready for 5 mile no problem to them. You should think about the darkness. Slot of people doing in Ireland. And Europe Clipping not that affective.
It also bring on your birds they will look like yearlings and you will have a big advantage on those that don't do the darkness system in the young bird racing. Just an option. Your birds look great.
I see u made that box to just fit in the way the bed liner is made cool U may have to tie it down in longer toss It is sad in ur club no one will help u with advise Jealously is the problem that is killing this hobby sport In our clubs good luck
Thanks Michael, glad you like the toss cage. I think you may be right about the club but if it doesn’t get better this will be my first and last year racing. That’s for watching
No help from club members....thats not a fun club to be in. Hopefully someone there can help you out more, that's why it's a club. You can clip them or not it's up to you. Racing is trial and errors, you find what works for you and your birds. When I was still racing in a very competitive club, whoever didn't do a certain system on the birds were always on the bottom sheets. Good luck!!!
Why clip at all what is the benefit nrver heard of doing such Olson had homers for 70.years and didn't do such what is that suppose to do for the bird's
They say it make sure they have their adult feathers by the time race season starts. But I don’t think I’m going to do that anymore. I don’t like the sound of it myself
