This session focuses on changes to the WHO-AFRO SLIPTA Checklist and the transition considerations from version 2 to 3.
The WHO-AFRO Stepwise Laboratory Improvement Process towards Accreditation (SLIPTA) checklist is used to objectively evaluate and verify the establishment, implementation and improvement of the quality management systems in medical and public health laboratories, primarily based on the ISO:15189 standard. The checklist, completed by trained and certified SLIPTA Auditors, provides recognition based on a star rating of 1-5 and certifies that the audited laboratory is undergoing a quality improvement process to meet requirements of applicable standards. Since international organization for standardization (ISO) revised the ISO 15189 and published a 4th edition (ISO 15189:2022 standards) in December 2022, ASLM and WAHO/AFRO, along with selected partners, have revised the SLIPTA checklist to align with that 4th edition.
In this session, we will:
• Review the main changes to the revised SLIPTA Checklist V-3
• Provide guidance on the use of the new checklist
• Guide on the transition roadmap and how countries can support this and the ongoing use of checklist
