Why ‘the religious hippie?’
It was a nickname my friends gave me when I was in highschool because I dressed like a hippie and was a ‘wild child’, when I came back into my faith they thought ‘the religious hippie’ was now a more appropriate nickname and it stuck!

The Chosen is made by people and it wont be perfect but they are trying to make a christian series in a world full of non christian media and thats amazing and needs to be more appreciated !! Of course it is just a series so it will be fiction but its beautiful and spreads a beautiful message😍!

Exactly my thoughts! As a human creation, The Chosen has it's flaws. But there're much more awesome things about it, especially the performances. I love Jesus, Mother Mary and St. Joseph, but it's awesome to see how the apostles and Mary Magdalene might be and develop love for them too.

@@josephesquivel4066 No but I do believe the fan turnout and some social media. There are a lot of people effected by the series.Millions have watched it and still do. Millions watch other awful things so I think it"s great they watch this in such large numbers.

@@deb9806 It's reached millions and touched children and people with disabilities. One autistic girl got to meet them when she felt Matthew's performance was like her in a way. She felt connected. That's what it is about.

I feel the prayers are more powerful because of that. Mother Angelica once said, you don't have to feel it at first, just do it. The emotions can come later. I feel (although I can't really know) that when parents forgive killers soon after the death of a child, they are doing that, doing what God wants but maybe don't feel anything but numbness right now and hurt.

I’m a Protestant but I really strongly dislike and I’m against the "Catholic are less on fire” question. Everyone’s journey with Christ is going to look different and the insinuation that Catholics are somehow not as strong believers, because the worship style tends to be more solemn and quiet is honestly very hurtful. The important thing is that you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and do your best to follow the Bible and the teachings. Some people are very different in personalities and may prefer a more quiet and calm worship style, and some people may love loud music and lots of fellowship and those things are all totally valid and don’t make you any more or less of a strong believer.

About being blind to on fire catholics that is so true like bruh we got mother teresa, saint faustina, padre pio, the recent saint carlo acuti, and so much more like all the religious orders and nuns. Those are literally people who devote their entire lives to the faith.

Watch Fr. fr. Chad Ripperger and how he says to stay away from Yoga. He says according to the yoga masters, much of the yoga positions are bodily positions that represent a deity. Hence, you may be glorifying a false deity by doing some of the yoga positions.

I never thought of yoga as anything but exercise although I just do Pilates now. I cant imagine unless it's the meditation why down dog etc would be bad.

Some of the things Dr. Taylor Marshall has said aren't just "controversial", they're incorrect, plain and simple. He's got the right values, but nonetheless he has drifted into a sad place. We must not hesitate to point that out. He really needs our prayers.

@@Ai-kh9vm He has been sympathetic to the view that Pope Francis is not the pope, and has been speaking in a way that is disrespectful to the pope. On his social media, he shared a Vatican conspiracy theory which is horrific enough to not be talked about. He said he didn't know if the theory was true. Also, he seems very strongly sympathetic to rejecting the validity of Vatican II. There are good reasons to criticize words and policies of Pope Francis and the hierarchy since Vatican II, but the positions Dr. Taylor Marshall advertises are not allowable for Catholics. There is a danger that some of his audience could leave the Church because of things he's said.

I know for me, I couldn't get into it at first but then 2 years later, after leaving Divine Mercy Sunday, I turned it on, looking for something to watch and fell in love with it. By the 3rd one I was in tears and certain episodes with Nicodemus and Matthew were very well done. Scott Hahn who is a hard sell was saying his kids were expecting the usual Christian series/movie which aren't very good and were like "They can act!". lol For some it takes time, others love it right away, some never do. They have millions reading the Bible now and that's good.

@@deb9806 completely agree! Honestly, I feel bad for people that don’t stick with it to see how beautifully it plays out. I’m a Catholic and I see nothing heretical about the show. They even have Bishop Barron as a consultant. Any catholic/Christian that prejudges before even watching it in its entirety might benefit from an examination of conscience to root out any pride or arrogance.

"The Chosen" is obviously not Biblical but by that standard neither is Paradise Lost, The Divine Comedy, Ben Hur and... Oh yes... The Little Drummer Boy. The point is that fictional adaptations of the Bible go back a long ways. This is nothing new. So there are, to my mind, two relevant questions. 1. Is it heretical? Does it attribute to Biblical characters thoughts and actions which are against Church teaching? 2. Is it any good as literature or entertainment? For the 1st question, I think the Chosen has sometimes gotten close to that line, but hasn't crossed it (yet) For the 2nd question, I think it's great and moving and sometimes audacious.... But I respect those who disagree. Your mileage will vary...

The Chosen is cringy? That puzzles me. Corny? A little, because the things that are simple and sentimental by definition are corny. Expressions of love are simple and sentimental and as such can be corny. That's not a bad thing. But the word that comes to me when describing the Chosen is intriguing.

Informative, but I disagree on The Chosen part of this video. The Chosen has given me a new look on the Bible, and the artistic nature of the show is only to make it more entertaining. Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus, is a devout Catholic, and he loves the Rosary! Its not a protestant-only production. As a traditional catholic I enjoy it.

I fell in love with it late, not getting into "samples" I watched. OMG, I was moved more than any Ignatian exercise (except with Mary, I am Catholic) but I agree with Bishop Barren, the acting is great considering typical series like this, Jon is a wonderful Jesus and I never cried this much during any Jesus/religious movie. I feel him now when I pray more and when Peter said "Don't let me go" to him in the water, I went to bed with that prayer.

I would argue it makes sense to strike our breast during the Salve. We are reflecting that Mary is clement, pious and sweet. We cannot meditate on the highest virtue a creature ever had without recognizing that we are sinners. So her virtue calls us to humility and humility calls us to penence. Of course it's a private devotion, so there is no obligation to do it, but it's good to do it.

It’s not Catholic but if you skip Xmas special it’s fine I’m sure Latin mass priests snd EWTN wouldn’t endorse that. Very few people feel that way. I watch pretty strict theologians and priests and they love it for what it is.

It helped me tremendously! It actually sparked a fire to go read the scriptures. We are visual creatures so being able to see a representation of Christ in this way can have a great impact on us

@@thegamerj117 I know some people pan it, but it can't be all bad if Scott Hahn and EWTN and priests and Bishops love it and sift through certain things because the bulk is good. An abbey in Calif also had a review and they do Latin mass etc and the priests love watching it. With all that, you can still not like it, tastes are different, but it's not a bad show or panned by most conservatives and not so conservative Catholics.
