In "Juneteenth 1865-2024: A Legacy of Song," we show that music is the tie that binds and the language that has flowed through and across cultures since the beginning of time.
Many would argue the rhythm, rhyme and the magic of a steady drum beat began in Africa. They’d also say the sounds of Africa influence every genre of music from folk and country to house, funk and rock. The heavy bass lines of hip-hop and the slashing of a heavy metal guitar are all influenced by African culture.
To truly understand the breadth of the impact of Africa on American music, in this fourth installment of this award-winning KHOU 11 documentary series, we have to take it back to the Mother Land.

It's a made up event. Galveston was the center of commerce in Texas. They heard FIRST in Texas of the Emancipation Proclamation and the end of the war. Saying it did not make the papers in Galveston Texas of all places for month afterwards is just pure lunacy. Let's remember real events; not fairy-tales.

Ben Haith created the 1997 Juneteenth flag and the colors are not red, green and yellow. It's in fact red, white and blue with a big star in the center.

I would've thought that the Black Seminoles would have learned their lesson about those "promises" & would've told the gov'ment to keep it stepping! I can't say that I was suprised when their promises of land, freedom etc in return for helping them fight turned out to be empty! 😔

Honorable the community state churches failed us( it was the children school and homeless community shelter. 1865 to 1965 is when we lost our southern family farms and became enslaved on our family farms, children was taken to endengered servants never to be seen again. We have been removed from the his-story books by imagrants. the southern ne-gro Indian gullah people simple good farmers. Cooper tone Americans. Brown and beautiful blue brown skin people. @@chrisb9445 Yeah it is. The official Juneteenth flag is red, white, and blue and the American flags flown from the very beginning to represent the Union's defeat of the confederacy at the very first Juneteenth celebration in 1865 were red, white, and blue.
