the africans jumped onboard the juneteenth thing? , um africans have nothing to do with this , this was a galveston texas thing then became an american holiday
Why is pan African beings talked about when you are talking about black Americans descent of slavery in America. It is disrespectful and a slap to black Americans enslaved in America. We talking about everyone except the people enslaved in America . Why we talking about West African food and not soul Food that enslaved black Americans eat and make this some BS how other people hajack black historic in America..
Newsflash, they just pander to you for votes, they don’t care about your history in this country. Get over it, vote Trump and come over to the side of the Americans
@trhansen3244 nope you can't get rid of something that a good portions of our community has been celebrating prior to Federal recognition. By this logic let's get rid of all Federal, State and Commercial holidays then.
@@MISTERALSTON You mean you think America is less divided today than it was twenty years ago? When you exclude people based on skin color, as black do routinely now, how does help? A black national anthem? They call for segregation in schools so they can be away from white people. Any of this ring a bell?
Juneteenth is about black Americans (descendants of USA chattel slavery) meaning all the business vendors must be black Americans and can trace their lineage back to the 1870 1880 1890 USA census Having anything like a African or Caribbean vendor is a offensive because it would never be allowed for black American vendors to be at carnival events or African events in New York City but this is a Third World immigrant hub so I expect this BS to take place. Luckily I’m from the black south via South Carolina. We don’t have them problems out here.
The Narrative is.......The Confederate states did not want to give up their source of wealth. The unsolved part of this Narrative is.........WHO ARE THESE People really????
I understand being that it's a celebration of multi generational Americans that are the descendants of slaves. I guess the only connection would be that most of the slaves were historically from West Africa.
@@petera618 There still no connection. You don't see africans, connecting their history to caribbean culture or holidays. Only to black american culture and holidays. And we all know why.
that is exactly the point. Man, I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen gone before their time and it was at the hands of someone that looked just like them.
Someone please tell me why is a West African restaurant being highlighted??? How about the restaurant owned by a Jamaican?? This is a slap in the face and has no business attached to this story. This is sloppy work and now I’m questioning the motives of the story if they aren’t going to do the work. Will a Black American restaurant be featured during the West Indian parade? If this was a Jewish holiday do you think they would be showing a non Jewish restaurant? Have you seen that done before? I’ll wait because it would never happen. Much success to that restaurant but that was extremely disrespectful and I will not be visiting. Enjoy.
It’s New York City a Third World immigrant hub most black Americans in New York City are now immigrants majority of the actual black Americans(descendants of USA chattel slavery) have reverse migrated back to the south or they live in northern Jersey /New York State Luckily, I’m from South Carolina via the American south. We don’t have that problem.😂😂
@@javionriley8739 Actually most Africans are in Texas and New York and Maryland have almost the same amount so most of them are in the south, which is perfect. Regardless that doesn’t answer why would they be featured for Juneteenth. That report isn’t gonna give them the press they thought they were gonna get if anything it comes off as immigrants eating off of MY peoples hard work and struggles.
@@kaydee1201 because they’re not black American Juneteenth is only for black Americans descendants of USA channel slavery. This is about lineage, not race.
When the Africans celebrate Juneteenth, since they sold us into bondage, their part is of it is more is celebration of the atrocity that still curses Africa!
Juneteenth has nothing to do with africans, carribeans, kente clothes, beef patties, jollof, so called "black" others, red/black/green flags etc. This is a black american lineage holiday....period!
The newscaster is Caribbean. You can hear when you know it. 13:41 Success Academy treatment gives the kids a mental slavery mentality. It’s owned by whites who feel our kids need this treatment.
Why Are Those News Individuals Showing An African Restaurant During "FBA" Juneteenth Celebration 🎊... US Black Citizens Must Put A Stop 🛑 To All Those Tethers, Impersonating As US Black Citizens 😢..
As a Texan whose ancestors were enslaved and also endured Jim Crow in east Texas (Limestone county & surrounding areas) I’m offended by seeing other ppl’s culture displayed over my ancestor’s culture. We are American. Many (not all) African immigrants are constantly insulting black Americans saying we don’t have a culture. YES WE DO! How disrespectful that you add your culture and barely highlight ours on OUR holiday! Leave us and our Juneteenth, which we’ve been celebrating long before it was federally recognized, alone!!
God Bless you! Im from Houston with grandparents who were from Shepherd, TX, Livingston , TX Leggett, TX and Centerville, TX. My parents ( now 91 yrs old) always insisted on us recognizing Juneteenth, as their parents did. When I was a kid, it was only celebrated and recognized in Black communities. My maternal grandpa used to drive a flatbed truck loaded with celebrants to Galveston, Tx to celebrate. I wonder what ancestors would think about this special day getting so much attention now. We definitely need to keep our unique history and traditions alive. We cannot let them be co-opted, diluted or erased.
The day the slaves were freed to become perpetualy-dependant burdens upon the the US government is celebrated as "a day commemorating black independance". Ironical.
What do a west african food restaurant have to do with Juneneth Celebration. Black Americans can't have anything of our own without them co-opting it with everybody.
@@jewdollaz305 They're not black, black stand for Black American. They're africans, jamaicans, bahamians, Haitians. At one time "black" was a derogatory, black americans made the word BLACK to be celebrated. Black and Proud, Black Excellences.
@@jewdollaz305 The majority of the ppl you are calling “black” will vehemently tell you they are not “black”, they are Ethiopian, Haitian, Dominican, Nigerian, Somali, etc. The only ppl on planet earth who collectively call themselves “black” are the descendants of slaves in the USA. The countries in the African diaspora have NOTHING to do with black American history on June 19th.
everybody should have a holiday. But as a white American is there any holidays just for me? I have a few black friends and they celebrate every holiday that I celebrate.
Making Juneteenth an official holiday was one of the worst mistakes to have happened. African and Caribbean cultures have nothing to do with Juneteenth. Black Americans have been celebrating that day for decades.
What do you think the blacks came from before they came to America? They came from the Caribbean and Africa so a lot of those coaches are mixed in with ours. What do you mean? It has nothing to do with us
@mikallowe4577 you act like Caribbean is a bloodline...they were draged across the Atlantic Ocean the same way... We all was property of the of the British.. Whe the revaluationary war happen in North America, they were dragging negros back and forth, from the Caribbean to te us. From American to the Caribbean..
@@mikallowe4577 Let's be real. Does Haitian flag Day have anything to do with African Americans? Caribbeans came from Africa they aren't are parents they are on the same level as black Americans they are apart of the diaspora.
I don’t get how not including people helps move anything forward. Isn’t that the whole point of why so many died? This is about honoring the heritage of the enslaved that stood up for freedom and survived through horrors. This selfish rhetoric im reading on here is asinine. People complaining about not getting attention? It’s the news. WHO CARES. Can Caucasians also not celebrate with you because they personally had nothing to do with slavery? CAN THEY NOT BE HAPPY FOR YOU? Can a Jamaican who was enslaved not celebrate their strife? Take a look in the mirror and wonder what your ancestors would think. I guarantee they aren’t bickering about who gets the most attention. God be with you all.
@@mikallowe4577 No you are wrong. Black Americans are their own ethnic group and have their own culture. Stop trying to link BA’s to Africa and Caribbean. Black people have been in America for centuries. When Africans and Caribbeans have their celebrations, they gatekeeper their culture and don’t allow black Americans to participate. If they do, they have no problems telling black Americans stop using their culture. That they are not the same as them.
Learn the history of the true Independence Day, for those people who were enslaved. Any Blk American celebrating the 4th of July should be ashamed of themselves
@@larssandvik1347 At least you are honest. Most system suckers deny it. If most of you were just straight up and honest like that, a lost of social workers wouldn't be burn out and alcoholic.
Juneteenth could be a somber holiday about freedom from oppression and yet it's a fun celebration of culture and survival. But by me, it's the best parade going, has the best music, best dancing, and great food. Don't miss out by arguing over nonsense.
@@mikallowe4577 that’s the reality. Sorry, but most people would agree with the OP. It’s not anything that I’m happy about but your culture is your own worst enemy
It is the tax returns that gives the idea that black families are fatherless. Black women are smart enough to file their taxes with their children separately.
We get the whole year !!!! Everyday is a celebration when you’re productive and law abiding. Then you go home to a nice home in a safe place. It ain’t cheap. No siree. Taxes in a nice neighborhood start in the 18 k. A year. Ask any BLM founder that’s where they escaped to
A group that whites literally looted and burned down sucessful towns and took funds from black banks and enslaved for over 250 years before and made them sharecrop up until the 1970s how the hell is that an advantage sounds more like restitution. Let's not forget that black soldiers who served in 1944 were overwhelming denied their GI Benefits due to race.
By the end of the Civil War, roughly 179,000 black men (10% of the Union Army) served as soldiers in the U.S. Army and another 19,000 served in the Navy. Nearly 40,000 black soldiers died over the course of the war-30,000 of infection or disease
I never understood all the african themed stuff. We are not Africans. Just like when the Italians have a parade its so cringe because they are not Italians. 😂
While some in the US celebrate freedom on June 19th,, 28 million people were in forced labor in 2021according to International Labor Organization. So what exactly is being celebrated ?

I think this would be a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the great contributions of the Black community to our society. Their peaceful and generous nature make them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are fueled by the mix of African Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nature of these communities, an example of all they have achieved through their enthusiasm for self-improvement by hard work and a self-reliant can-do nature. Without their industrious and creative drive, we would be poorer as a nation.
