Really enjoyed this one! Just a small tip: That metal circle on the microphone indicates the front of the capsule, where you're supposed to speak to. You can get a better signal to noise ratio since you don't need boost the gain as much. Also that type of mic usually isn't meant to be handled while recording, they're very sensitive, but I'm assuming you didn't have a stand at that point, which is fine :)
It took me a long time and a lot of tragic experiences but I think I've naturally come to integrate the shadow in a healthy way. I have a lot of reasons to be resentful towards everything but I still have it in me not to want to become the thing which I resent. I channel all of it towards bending people's ego in shape when they do something wrong, in important and difficult situations, even towards authority. And I could do it because I've built up enough resentment that I couldn't care less. Try to do and say the right thing, you'll never find the perfect words the first time. But you do get better every time. A little mix of being blunt, assertive, basic respect, and knowing your value, and even the most confident a**hole boss will start to falter with each confrontation
TY for touching on this topic. I've been listening to 'Jung to Live By' for a while, a lot of those discussions have been really interesting in terms of pinning down different things that can happen when people are working with depth psychology (Steve often discusses the Pankseppian instincts as a zone of activity that carry a lot of force). Also as someone who's worked with western esotericism and psychedelics a lot - I think there's a lot to the idea that we have a lot of different modules but that they'd perhaps be organized in a self-balancing manner (some of what Mark Solms has said about emotion, homeostasis, and consciousness stands out for me and I was delighted as well to see that he's been a guest one or two times on Steve and Pauline's channel).
I suspect as world events take their proper priority in peoples' minds, these self-critical preoccupations will diminish. Are you following what is going-on in Ukraine? There is about a 50/50 chance Russia will use a tactical nuke.
His autobiographical writings, "Memories, Dreams, and Reflections," is a fascinating book for anyone interested in C.G. Jung. He wrote it late in his life, prompted by his unconscious.
This is so interesting and true. Me being a woman, most people don’t think about us riding a motorcycle. When I’m very energetic or even stressed and irritated, I go for a ride for a couple hours. It is so stress relieving! When I come back home I change into a dress and never felt so feminine. ❤ it’s like I get all the masculine aggression out or something. I love your channel, since I started watching your videos I felt more interested in seriously studying the human psyche, soon I will start my career as a graduate in psychology. This video in particular means a lot to me because I believe that within the fields of this subject, Jungian psychology is the one that interests me the most since it combines spirituality and mysticism with science. And what better mystery than the human mind? Since I was a teenager, I have always been interested in the study of personalities, whether through astrology, numerology, personality tests, etc. I think it is the current that identifies me the most, although perhaps the race will surprise me with another aspect, who knows. Imaginary numbers were only thought of as imaginary because they existed somewhat "transcendentally" to the math of the time, and only called imaginary because mathematicians at the time literally thought they were imaginary. In complex analysis they're usually colloquially called lateral numbers instead of imaginary.
Very interesting presentation Ana! I have always been fascinated by Carl Jung. C.G. Jung's book "Flying Saucers-A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Skies" was an invaluable reference for when I did some field investigations on the subject and interviewed people who claimed to witness this phenomenon. I can't say for certain that Jung's analysis could explain everything but did offer insight for people who might have dreamt an experience. My question would be regarding another alleged ability that was called "Remote Viewing" that the Army experimented with under the Stargate program that actually might have been a tapping into the "collective" for gathering information. This program was cancelled as it did not provide very accurate results or information.

In Wellsprings by Anthony de mello, which is a book of spiritual exercises, he instructs the reader to meditate on the idea that they do not seek the exercises for personal benefits but for the welfare of creation before they start the exercises . This could be an example of how to keep humility and avoiding the mana personality
I'm reading The Red Book. It's a bit like taking a hallucinogenic. There are some immediate insights to be had, the rest will take time to work its influence. One aspect, that is my mind-blowing interpretation, is that Jung tries his hand at being God's Psychoanalyst. Why? Well, in part, the poor guy (God) seems to need a lot of reassurance.

I actually know very little about Jung, mostly I know that he and Freud dissgreed on some things and that he is probably the biggest inspiration for Jordan Peterson. The only thing we nowadays credit these people for is, that they gave the idea of a subconscious a name and actually started considering the fact that maybe there are things within you that lie below the conscious surface. I'm okay with giving them credit for that, but not for much more...
We could probably compare Jung's archetypes with Dawkins' memes, and Jung's collective unconscious with Hegel's Zeitgeist, or even Vygotsky's social-language determinism. Before anyone complains: when I mean compare, I don't mean identify/equalize, but rather use one theory's key points to understand another's. About the Oedipus's/Electra's complex: if I understand it correctly, the child wants to "have" its opposite-sex parent because it learns from its same-sex parent, which makes total sense, as a boy will surely see his father as a model for learning his morally appropriated behavior, which sexual impulses are only a part of, despite Freud putting too much emphasis on it lol.

Hi Ana, thanks for doing this video, its the best summary I've heard anyone do of Jung on RU-vid. Always love your videos, thanks for all the time, knowledge and effort you put into them. I have no training in psychology but and find reading Jung very tricky and only slowly getting through them. With that said, I really would recommend Psychology of the Occult by Jung. When reading any of his texts I personally find it helps small notes after each section to try to get a better picture of his ideas otherwise I lose track. I'm a big believer that you don't need to fully understand something to gain something from it. Unfortunately (I think because Jung isn't all that respected by some because of its spiritual undertones) his ideas are only discussed in a superficial and condescending way by some summary books. Considering rereading some of his stuff in a year or so to see if I can understand it better/pick up on something I missed last read. As someone who is studying psychology as a profession you'd enjoy him too. It may not be something that you'd use in your career, but he really is such a creative and interesting writer. Thanks again for your video, your summary is very helpful and has cleared up a few questions/misunderstandings I had on his ideas.

Did not know the phenomenon (synchronicities) had a name, but definitely has thought about it many times, also from a chemical / molecular perspective (!?) due to my scary accurate spidey senses/intuition. Interesting that it has gotten some new attention! Thank you for the vid ❤
You may enjoy a book called "the gift of fear" It talks about the way the brain is processing a ton of information-especially danger-before/without reaching conscious awareness, and that being the reason for sensations like "hair standing up on the back of the neck," "someone is watching," and a "bad feeling" about x person.
Wow, this was a great video! The part about the mana and the higher self really spoke to me, I thought it was incredibly fascinating. I watch a lot of your videos they are very interesting. I love that you talk both about practical and theoretical things when it comes to psychology, I think a lot of people don't really do that, at least in the same way I've seen in your videos. Do you know of the noosphere theory by Teilhard de Chardin? I think it's similar to the collective unconsciousness, and it's something I've put a lot of thought into. Maybe you could do a video on it?
The collective unconscious is a fascinating concept. One tangible effect of it is when you run into someone at a specific location. Sure geographical proximity plays a factor but ive met friends/ acquaintances across the world. Let me tell you its a fucking trip to see someone you know crossing the street in Shibuya Tokyo when were both from and live in California
Great video, a lot to think about. If you want to get rid of those pops in the audio, you can edit the clips so they all fade in & out a little bit, it gets rid of most of those abrupt clicks. If you're on Final Cut Pro I can tell you how to do it, otherwise I'm sure you're editing program can do it too.

There's absolutely no way that Bell's Theorem and Quantum Entanglement can be related to "Synchronicity" on a human scale. Quantum entangled system decohere LONG before reaching any type of macro scale. Just the slightest interaction with other particles (that the whole world is made out of, don't forget!) can cause the Wavefunction to collapse. Also there's no way to send information using entanglement in the first place... Anyone who pushes a connection is just giving in to the Quantum Woo, for more info check out any high tier physics channel (PBS Spacetime, Sabine Hossenfelder, etc).
