You can tell from the way he was responding during that interview that something was not right. I was watching this race on TV and I told my wife something was wrong with Dale Jr. Years later, Dale admitted he didn't hardly remember that post-accident interview.
The wreck that changed his career. Glad he decided his health was more important than full time racing. I still appreciate when he gets in the car every now and again.
Lot of tire problems, Johnson gets involved in a wreck. Johnson needs to win at Charlotte and Dale Jr. needs to win at Talladega if they both win, that is going to be a huge sigh of relief
This is not the crash that messed him up. He was just entering the corner when the tire went out . He went from the bottom of the track all the way to the top . I don’t think their is any video that I know of it. Their also wasn’t any Safer Barrier when that wreck happened
All these comments. This isnt the wreck that resulted in the career ending concussion. That happened during a test on a Wednesday. There was no video of it
the crash that "ruined his career" wasn't in a nascar... it was the sports car that caught on fire with him stuck in it. He backed off big Time after that.
🚨🚨🚨 People, this is not *THE* crash. The horrible crash was in a tire test in 2012, not during a race in 2014. There is no video of the horrible crash. If you need evidence, other than those being two different years and this clearly not being too hard of a hit, consider this. Brad Keselowski described the wreck by saying that he was "sitting in the garage when it happened". He couldn't be sitting in the garage when this video happened since he was running 7th at the time.
PchanStitch Cause it sucks, this system matched with this car, sucks. Newer fans wouldn't get it *75% of the people that show up at the races now* Thus, NASCAR is hopeless now. Sooner or later the flash fans will fade and they will have to put the car back into the drivers hands. Rick won't own NASCAR forever and the more fans figure it out, the worse it will get.
Wow is it just me, but it doesn't look like that bad of a hit. Chances are there was an earlier crash (?) that really caused the problem and this one just brought it to the forefront, as did an even later one. Sometimes you don't know you are hurt, until you get hurt again. I broke my hand once, and though it was bad, I seemed to have recovered all right. But then I got it broken again, and that time it took months to heal and still bothers me. I also have been in multiple car crashes (no I don't race), and in one, years after I thought I was OK, and had settled the insurance claim, I found out that I had a serious neck injury that had not been discovered, and only when they finally put me in a MRI machine was it confirmed...! It's good that he is talking about this, may save someone else! This is also why today's cars have "crumple zones" so your head get's slowed down even before it hits the "airbag"! (NASCAR's don't crumple as easy, as they are meant to "take a hit" and still be able to race (to a limit).
Disappointing that his day ended like this. Hopefully they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get good finishes at Charlotte and Dega. I still stand by my faith that Steve Letarte is not gonna leave HMS without a championship under his belt, even if he has to fight tooth and nail for it. This new Chase system has made everything a crap shoot ⊙_⊙
