In this bumper episode, Henry and Sam visit the biggest classic motorcycle auction and autojumble in the UK, the Stafford Show, with, shall we say, mixed results.
Misses and I are addicted to this show, and their other ones. Good bunch of guys. A proper antidote to some of the vapid shows out there. I want a shed!
The show just came across my feed. I like it as much as I liked the Philly throttle show that was taken off after only 3 episodes. Is this an on going show or a one off?
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea !" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"
Don't usually have any time for the Hoorah Boris Johnson types who Henry went to Eton with....but i like Henry. He seems like an actual human being unlike Boris which was very unfortunate for the rest of us.
I got you guys beat by nine yards last year I picked up a 1967 C15 Starfire 250 BSA single 6000 original miles matching numbers everything works just missing the side panel that they took off to charge the battery and it has an alloy tank it came with paperwork from the estate sale it was going to be thrown away with the junkyard furniture imagine that picked up the bike $500 American delivered to my house you could pick up 95% complete British bikes in the late 80s for around $500 to get one 40 years later what's a pic of a windfall it has pretty paint add nice Chrome when you're a kid with a learner you ride the piss out of it with no mechanical sympathy B25 would go 90 miles an hour but if you want to go 90 miles an hour you really should get a bigger bike my 59 250 with a later motor in it cruises 60 miles an hour to op no problem they really are great little bikes Mike dirt bike can keep up which guys on their Japanese water cooled wonders because you can't use all their horsepower off-road unless you want to wrap yourself around a tree and in Florida if you run off the road and end up in a lake you will probably get eaten by the alligator before you can get to shore and my neck of the woods we have some damn Pig Gators that are the size of small dinosaurs like 20 ft Plus hitting one of those with your motorcycle will ruin your day
Bloke bloke that made programme intresting on tv was sam great sense humour and personality good motorcycle mechanic programme was something u see in sixties england all about motorcycles and countryside great motorcycle programme for people who enjoy that type stuff
I can't believe they sold that BSA for 1350. They paid around 1250 for it, got it running and bought a new ammeter for it. Should have held out for 1500.
Hay guys. this may sound funny but can you add some adverts please??? it will cut out the black bits, like Voyager going thru the great void. cheers love your stuff..
Oh no Henry! Not another buy shit, sell shit programme. Aren't there enough already? Although TBF the Stafford show is great. I saw Allen's 5 cylinder Kwakker there many years ago.
A lot of classic bikes now are over priced , you can buy a new anything these days for less than an average classic , I remember in the sixties you could pick up Nortons , Velos, Bezzers , Triumphs , for next too nothing , I bought an Ariel Golden arrow for £100 , got a Tiger cub for £20 , an 98cc Excelsior for a fiver a Yamaha for under two hundred quid , a 200cc Suzuki two stroke twin , for £110 , and many others just as an example , hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it , same with cars God knows how many of them I've had , but that's another story , happy hunting guys .
In 1960 I bought a New Hudson autocycle for 9 pounds from a lad that wanted 12 pounds for an old Indian Chief As I was 16 at that time I thought it was far to big for me I have wondered what that would worth for years now
Henry Cole presents both shows, possibly withe same pal, but the premise is slightly different. For information, it's also NOT called "Find It, Fix It, Flog It" 😉
He has always been a clown - I just can’t see the attraction of this show. Not noticing that a bike has been dropped on both sides without a key and being told to sod off every time he makes a stupidly low offer isn’t clever or educational.
Who's paying for the jolly around UK's county? There's just to much of these so called celebrity jolts buying and selling old tac, The only program worth watching these days Wheeler Dealers, The rest are well past there sale by date!!
