Japanese summers are bad. Air sticks to you and humdity is off the charts. Disliked them since I was 5 which was the first i time I went to Japan to visit family. August and Spring is actually the best season and time to go imo. It's like Los Angeles during winter. Nice and warm, but cool and snowy. Just be warned to get vaccinated while going their in any season except summer. Influenza easily spreads because of the small housing plots.
Fuck! I waited too long to listen to this. Damn, that's now 3 City Pop artists I've listened to that have all passed away from some form of cancer. Miki Matsubara, Cindy, and now Junko Ohashi.
Challah Bread NYC is the quintessential image of what America is all about to most foreigners. Big and beautiful, but also scary and dangerous. Full of wealth and opportunity, but also despair and suffering. In alot of ways, NYC is as "America" as it gets.
it wasn't till today I found out about her passing and it was because I was listening to her songs and wanted to know how old was she. Rest in peace, Junko. Thanks for everything, I've been listening to your music since 2018 and I didn't know you were fighting Cancer since that year. You'll be missed but I feel relieved won't have to suffer now, we love you so.
If you are a fan of soul music this song seems to have taken inspiration from Chaka Khan’s “whatcha gonna do for me” they sound very similar so maybe you hear a bit of her song in this and it reminds you of the past I which you heard it.
Awesome stuff! I definitely will be making a video about the drive, but also the trip in general. If you check out my channel and search "Japan" you'll find the first two parts from my Japan vlog with some friends. Editing new parts as we speak.
I wound up here because of a video exploring the origins of Super Mario Bros. music, which featured "Summer Breeze" by Piper as the Star power theme inspiration. I went to find that song to hear the whole thing, Plastic Love was in the suggestions bar, and it's been off to the races ever since
Junko Ohashi was my musical juggernaut, when I was 13 I use to put on this very song everyday because I couldn’t get enough of it, I vividly remember rewinding this song numerous times to the point where I would never get to the ending because every point of this song was beautiful to me. Her music would always get me through different points of my life even if I was mad at the world and not happy with my current state of life, I’m now a sophomore in high school and seeing her death also pulled the plug on the music side of my life. I hope you are resting in peace knowing you made people smile with your music. Even through death your essential soul will live on and your essential music. Whoever is behind this account, thank you for helping making this women known, you are deeply in my gratitude
Her music greatly impacted my life, as well. She brightened up my days whenever I felt sad. I’m so happy she blessed the world with her talent! RIP Queen!
You are way too young to be talking about different points in your life and your love of music dying, live some more years, explore the world, and come back to music like this.
On this lively stage In this buzzing lobby The side of a face I knew long ago Looking at the time and the entrance You're waiting for someone Turning around Noticing Even now I love you so Give me just one more chance At tonight's concert I can meet you again And even though I mustered my courage There's only ashes left of my cigarette My eyes still searching for you Turning around Noticing Listen! I love you so Now our faces meet I chased you, outside was rain But I can't go home like this Running up to you Holding you close Listen! I love you so My heart only wants you Turning around Noticing Even now I love you so Give me just one more chance (translated by me - message me any requests)
I remember listening to this at a smokey jazz bar in Tokoyo during the summer of 85. I met a girl named Kiki, she was the cutest Japanese girl I've ever met in my life. We hit the town, went to an arcade, ate amazing ramen, and enjoyed the amazing Japanese scenery. She then asked if I wanted to go to her apartment and before I could answer, I woke up.

I don't know why, but every city pop song i've heard until now gives me really nostalgic vibes from a time i didn't even get to experience, I don't even get a single sentence beyond the ones in english, and still the few songs i've heard manage to push that feeling into my heart...

She died. I used to listen to her in middle school. She made a lot of my early teenhood more comforting. I hope she rests in piece knowing she made people’s lives brighter.
Sorry if I'm bothering you but I have in Discord a community where we discuss and talk about Japanese music join if you're interested discord.gg/neWh8ve
Can confirm it, i found out about City Pop back in July and since then RU-vid has been recommending me more and more of it. Not that i'm complaining 😎😏🤗

I had to watch a video in engineering class explaining "why the World Trade Center went down" and the mechanics behind it. Breaks my heart. It's an engineering marvel that one civil engineer in a million gets a chance to create. Shame a beautiful masterpiece went down like that. This song and album picture makes me feel like I'm in the 80s, when the World Trade Center stood tall in the New York skyline.

Geoff Smith Really. Your okay with it as long as it stays up? Then you shouldn't be okay with them taking it down......this is contradictive logic of the next level.

Matsubara Miki's song Stay With Me went really tiktok famous and got #1 trending song on lots of music streaming services. Tons of people are listening to city pop now.
I got into it because of sampling music. I listen to the tracks normally before thinking abt samples, and Japanese city pop is a genre that stuck with me after this song specifically. This song is definitely one i think abt alot lmao
why do people find it so surprising that the album cover is the old world trade centre? i mean no wonder people would take pictures of it its new york and it was also quite the pretty place.
I swear the basslines from Japanese artists in the 80's completely nailed the simplicity is key aspect of Bass. Such unbelievably clean, easy to follow basslines. So good.
I swear japan was just cranking out a crazy amount of funky hits for a whole decade. Very high production value and they understand the art they're performing... so genius shout out to the performers!
