I bought a wagon with the 3.1 $600 all I did is change out the trans sol tune ups brakes oil changes . Some drunk dude hit it in the rear next to my exs house he made it right and paid for the damage. My average was 21 mpg in town and with the cruise on at 65 it got 30 mpg . I never got the rear fixed I sold it for 700 with about 198,000 on the clock stikll going strong never let me down never ! and plowed through snow they dont make cars like this anymore

Thanks for sharing ! I've owned many Z24s growing up. Currently have an 87 Z24. Love these cars, hate seeing them in a salvage yard.. especially when they are on that good of shape 😢

Yeah these are definitely cool cars I for sure wanna get my hands on one my self . That cowl induction hood is one of the big things I like about these plus that 3.1 and 5-speed manual is even better . I have a friend next to me that has a 91 model same setup but green and been wanting to race my 87 celebrity eurosport 2.8 and his z24 has way over 300,000 miles

Most of these type cars are probably not missed today unless one has a very low mileage little old lady car. Rust probably took the majority of them off the road with their thin metal not being a match for years of road salt. My mom nearly got killed in a Chevy Citation when the rear brakes locked up on it.

This is true not many care for them much anymore but guys like me on fourms to find all parts we can or try to keep what we can find and put them back on the roads . I like the body styling and how gm did certen things with style back then unlike now days I'll forever own something 80s and 90s I don't own anything newer than 05

@@KnuckleHeadGarage27 At the store the other day I saw a Chevy Lumina which I hadn't seen one in probably 10 years (my brother had one and drove the wheels off it). The car was a '93 and had just 13,000 miles on it and you likely guessed right that it was a little old lady car. His grandmother was the original owner and passed it to him since she is now in her late 70s and doesn't drive anymore. Me I'll never own anything past '05 either as I can still fix older stuff. My daily weatherbeater is a 2000 Ford Ranger. Cars don't rust here in Arkansas as we don't salt.

@@jacobhogan509 Yeah Tons of mini Van's at this yard , I rebuilt a van I had from parts at this yard lol and I've not seen any intrepids I've been looking for one of those my self to get coolant fans from one for my S10. There might be some K cars but I'm not sure honestly I stay in the GM section more

Good luck if you're looking for k car parts. I'm always hunting for Dodge Daytona and Shadow parts.

It wasn't scrapped for something minor I'm betting. Looks like it was sitting for a long time before it made it's way to the bone yard.

Definitely was and some family could have scraped it I've seen that many times

Yeah that's not clean for an old car - that's straight, at best. Bet you there's not much left of the floorpan.

@@KnuckleHeadGarage27 With that mileage, it served its purpose. The hidden boxes of parts mean someone attempted to fix it and keep it going, which is very commendable. I have seen much newer cars in better shape at junkyards (granted not in the last 2-3 years) and even bought a few (I still have my 87 Pony purchased in 2006 from a wreckers) so yeah, this Cadavalier has served its mission well past its expiration date, just like the space shuttle.

@@the_kombinator yeah I've seen cars in even better shape than this with lower miles mint paint and interior like a cream puff car but yet it was junked just sad I see so Many oldsmobile cutlass ceria's 87-95 and buick century's of same years in good shape usually just sad so many getting wasted yet I can't save them all but some of these vehicles 80s and 90s should been saved

@@KnuckleHeadGarage27 O gad you're bringing me back to high school, where my gf's mom would drive her 85 Calais (not a straight, rust free panel on it) and in passing get me to fix it (gladly, it's my gf;s mom, and it's a challenge I'm not familiar with because I only dealt with Hyundais and Fords at 17) and I did - and by God, the takeaways were: Iron dukes are INDESTRUCTIBLE. Single-mom-I-don't have-money-for-oil-changes and what-are-wheel-bearings levels. The Calais.... utter horseshit, they'd deteriorate to a 3/10 but CONSISTENTLY STAY THERE until cockroaches roamed the earth. Legends? Survivors? Started every time though. That particular Calais went straight to the wreckers when my gf's mom upgraded to a 6000-LE (which I also later got "gifted" - not a bad car) and gave it to me. I gave her the two wheels with enough tread on them to last a season for her new car (the 6000) and otherwise had a fun time with it on the way to the scrappers but.... No, not a lot of 90s American domestic cars should be saved. No. Just no.
