I always wonder what a bypass doser for ground coffee used for.

you are wrong, own an Jura machine, It is for ground coffee. The clean tablets are only for cleaning the grinder, and internals, the machine gives an alert generally when you do every second scale to put in a cleaning tablet. The sticker you see has warnings for no metal items, fingers etc because it goes to the grinder but the grind doesn't activate and gets pressed then water run through. It does have to be an certain grind though can't be a super fine grind.

You're correct, the E6 model does NOT include a functional bypass doser for ground coffee. Our demo model was mislabeled and threw us for a loop as well - sorry for the confusion. We'll be uploading a corrected version of this review shortly.

Who wants to drink already ground coffee? Just looses flavor

I was told about the feature at the store and didn't discover that you can't add ground coffee until I got it home.

It'll be in the making coffee part in the manual. You keep the door open then start a drink and it'll say when to add in the ground coffee. Jura also have video on their YT channel or on the DVD if you got one

It actually is a one touch system!

Actually it's pretty easy on the Jura's, it sounds like more fuss than what you actually do which it simply sucks up some hot water the hot water comes from the machine. Also has manual and auto rinse settings, and will auto rinse when you start the machine can also have an set start up time so it's ready to go before you wake up or when ever you want to ready to go.

That's a great, very deep question! We definitely recognize that there are diverse worlds of coffee that utilize and appreciate it differently. There's always going to be a place for craft espresso, and the more control that people have to play with is something that attracts people to 3rd wave coffee. On the opposite end of the spectrum, automation continues to be something the food world continues to move towards. So there's a place for both!

You know, it's definitely not a machine for everyone! But if it's a home that has a number of different people drinking throughout the day and they want ease, it's a great fit!

Have one here in Australia, Coffee here is taken to the extreme, Starbucks in Australia went bankrupt and is espresso only pretty much. So these machines are more for the person who wants the best out of their coffee but aren't up to doing it all manually everytime, The price is higher for that reason so if you want to upgrade or after a good auto espresso machine, these are well worth the money. We have the J8 or 6 an older machine have had it for around 3 to 4 years, daily use doing around 10 cups a day, working great the whole time IE never had any problems. The water filter and the scale alerts are a good thing as it helps to keep everything running very well. Servicing in Australia for any JURA machine is cheap at $380 AUD. you put it in pay around $80 and pay the rest after the pick up, service prices are the same across the board, I would expect US servicing prices to be cheaper but also the same across the board IE the whole country. I notice this place sells Rockets which is the manual version of this sort of machine. Paying the higher price allows you to expand what you can do with coffee based drinks, like doing coffee martinis etc, You'll want to upper end machines to get the better results.

Silent Traveler , Best coffee machine I've ever had! Worth every penny! If there's two or more coffee drinkers in the family, pays itself off in less than a year. And Starbucks prices keep going up!
