Jura Error 8 fix | J-Z-ENA-GIGA Brew Group Repair 

I just want to say THANK YOU. I can't tell you how thankful I am for you guys and your helpful content. It took me a while, but I was able to follow your steps in the video to get my brew group cleaned out, o-rings replaced, and issues resolved. My Impressa F7 is 15+ years old and has cranked out 20,000 cups of coffee, and it's still going as strong as ever thanks to you guys.

Thank you for this valuable video!!!! The Error 8 on my Z7 had been plaguing me intermittently for a few months before I decided to make the attempt to repair it with the guidance of my daughter. She's methodical and precise, while I'm sloppy and lazy, so having her supervision was of utmost importance. The disassembly was a bit more challenging the first time. The second time we did it, I think it took less than ten minutes. We had to reassemble the gear box, piston cup and piston three times before we could get the unit to move smoothly on the arms. It is critical that the piston be inserted fully and the position of the gear box be exactly where you demonstrate in your video in order for the final unit to be properly in alignment. One minor criticism though...your video skipped the reassembly of the drain valve group. It was easy enough to review the disassembly and work in reverse. Between the cost of postage to send the machine in for repair, the labor charges and the cost of a new brew group, I think your video saved me close to $500. That's a lotta beans!

This is an excellent video, well presented and illustrated! There is no way I could have put my brew group back together without these instructions. Great job!

God Bless you! I’m amazed at the engineering that went into the design & evolution of the Jura machines! Astounded is a better word. I’m grateful that you share this unique & indispensable video of rebuilding the brew group. It’s unbelievable that you tear down this complex amalgam of parts to each component. Then repeat the process so effortlessly. Kudos to you! I’m not sure I will tear down mine when the time comes; I just may opt for buying a rebuilt brew group! 😂

Very useful. I had the brew group out because I had to replace the grinder burrs and removing it was part of the process on the ENA9. I hadn't really intended to do much with the brew group, but watching this and the parts guru videos convinced me that it wasn't that big a deal. Without the video, I'm sure I would have had a tough time refurbishing it. It definitely moves a lot more freely now that I've cleaned and lubricated it.

Great video and the parts I had ordered worked well, it took a couple of attempts to reset the piston correctly to ensure free movement..Also I had an error of missing tray when I turned it on. Somehow the microswitch became dislodged. I was able to put it in the correct position and it works great. Our Jura has made over 14529 coffees!

At 18:34, I would wait to place that bushing on the post until AFTER you replace the upper piston and gear wheel so you don't inadvertently drop it and lose it. Then when you are ready to replace the arm, lay the brew group flat on the workbench, put the bushing on the post and replace the arm while keeping the brew group down flat on the workbench. Hold that arm firmly in position as you flip the brew group over to reassemble the other side in the same fashion. This way the first arm won't fall off and you lose the bushing. After you have both arms on, hold them firmly in position as you install the top cap so neither one falls off and you lose a bushing.

Regarding Error code 8, before disassembling each bit of the brewer, it did a try to simply but it in its initial position after removing just the brewer and thoroughly cleaning up under the tap. Initial position is when the plastic blade is all the way down. I did not do it properly the 1st time I cleaned it up and this caused the problem. Now the machine works like new.

Very ....VERY usefull video. everything is explained into details ...why how and so ....great great video , so thanks alot from here , where its leaking from the piston , and we got the whole family coming grrrr , but for now i will try switching the orings and clean, so that it might work just for tommorow and then i hopefully have my spareparts

Hi and firstly…. This helped me so much..thank you very much. Unfortunately, i followed all the steps and my brewing unit moves freely and when i reconnected to my coffee machine, it runs and exactly as it used to. Except… I have same issue i started with…no coffee coming through anymore… ive used a screwdriver to trick the sensors to have a look, and it seems its leaking from the point in which the drain valve meets the lower piston and a load comes out of the wastegate. I really think my drain valve is faulty but i did do something alittle silly when reassembling. So i used the 'revised metal cap' for the drain pin, and it wouldnt sit in the pin properly, so i hammered it which ended up bending the tip very slightly and i have since tried to realign it. It seems ok but does have me a little paranoid that is causing the issue. Other than that, my reassembly was spot on. I tested the movement of the piston in a clockwise motion and it was smooth (which took ages to master but thats because i stumbled on this video so thanks again) Any advice on the above would really be appreciated. As im not sure if i should spend money on another pin, or just get a fully refurbished one. I feel its something very silly thats causing it, which is ashame because ive replaced all the o rings now

Thank you for your videos! Sooo, my Jura ENA 8 is "spitting" whenever I make coffee or hot water. It sputters and I have opened up the side and cleaned out the excess coffee grounds plus used the Jura cleaning capsules to try and make this go away. Awy help on how to fix this problem is greatly appreciated!!! It's driving me crazy!

Great video! Am considering rebuilding my ENA3 brew kit. However it’s only producing very coarse grounds regardless of settings. I’ve taken apart and tried various calibrations, even as “tight” as possible and still getting very coarse grounds that do not form pucks. Presume this is a grinder issue and not brew kit seals, etc. HELP!!

Better lighting would have been helpful. There were a number of places where showing something from additional angles or going a bit slower would have been helpful. Finally, I think you skipped over the reassembly of the drain valve after its o-rings were replaced.

Is there a special rules for Jura to leave dry the majority of mechanical parts, please? I mean- the metal rod (axel), metal bearings, any plastic guides, lower piston gearwheel group, etc. Thank you

Fantastic video! Am rebuilding my first brew group for ENA3. Top of the upper portion of the lower piston seems to hang up in the piston cup. Have reset the lower piston several times making certain it’s pressed all the way down but then not going thru gears smoothly when that lower piston gets to top of cup and hangs up instead of cup moving/ejecting forward. Any ideas?? Thx!

Thanks for the video. We changed whole brew group but however, the grounds are a wet slurry instead of a plug. Any idea on what may be wrong?

Is important to know that before you put it back the home position is when the coffee recipient has the door all the way down

Two questions. Rebuilding my first ENA3 brew group. 1) the little pipe shaped piece that fits at bottom has a small gasket that fits on the 90 degree bend end, does that gasket just fit on END or does it need to be put on further past first ring? 2) bottom of my brew unit does not have the brown plastic shroud that fits at bottom. Our family has a ENA5 that does have this brown shroud so wondering why this is? How is this brown shroud removed? Sorry system won’t allow me to send photos. Thx

Thanks for this. Its hard to read the tube of lube you used on the O rings. Can you tell use the name or a substitute. Obviously it has to be food friendly.

My x7 is making an insanely loud noise and giving me the malfunction eight error. If I get it taken apart and find the broken piece will you definitely be able to source parts for it?

My Jura dribbles after dispensing a shot? It seems to be dispensing extra water at the end, something appears not to be turning off properly any ideas?

Hi, I'll be on this one in a while, thank you :) In the mean time I have a XJ 9 impressa pro I have on my bench. The water tank panel screw is not a screw. it just looks like the end of a metal stud. Any clues? Access from the front panel maybe?

I wish you’d have more detail of gearbox alignment. 15:15 or so. Very hard to see. I assembled it backwards leading to error 8. 😢

Thank you so much for this clear video. I have a problem with the piston. It keeps popping out of the socket while I am sure I reassembled correctly. What could cause that? I have greased all the o rings also.

Just a couple of objective criticisms because I found it difficult to ascertain the correct fitment. Notches lining up with notches does not adequately describe how the parts, gearbox, should be aligned, subjective and open to interpretation. Your finger covered the part so I was not able to visually determine correct fitment. And the spot light is burning out the video at the point of interest, two side mounted lamps would be a better option. Not being critical a informative and accurate video just let down by a few minor issues.

You missed so many steps in the reassembly of the brew group and drainage valve it was like doing a jigsaw puzzle with my eight year old nephew who wants to demonstrate how clever he is by hiding several pieces of the jigsaw puzzle and going "Tadaaa!" at the end like some kind of amateur magician.
