Hey All! So we are on to Jurassic Park 2 - The Lost World. This one even though it has some bad ratings, I liked it better than the first one. It had more dinos, more action, and I get why the first movie has better ratings, and the merits in it, but I'm a biased guy who liked to see the action this one delivered.
This video is PURELY for commentary purposes, and is NOT a replacement for the original film. Please go watch the film if you haven't seen it.

0:04 Fun fact: This movie swapped openings with its predecessor. In the book, what alerts Costa Rica to the goings on of Isla Nublar (the island in the first chapter) is that some of the smaller dinosaurs, the "compys" attacked a little girl who described them to a local medical officer. Although, the details I used to say the first movie "borrowed" from the second book relied on a more nuanced recollection of the events and it's been too long, now. (The first movie was also released prior to the publication of the second book. It was a tongue in cheek kind of reference.) 💙

0:08 Michael Crichton's book is also a love letter to an older story, "The Lost World", by replacing some of the details with details from his first book on Jurassic Park - effectively a reimagining - that is all but completely discarded for the script of this film. Details of the second book remain, but many of the details were altered far further from Crichton's original narrative than was the case with the first movie. 💙

4:56 Yes, there's some tongue-in-cheek handwaving, as the book starts with a focus on Malcolm and his dismissal of the "rumors" of his death. I do believe that, although said to have died near the end of the first book, his body actually is on the helicopter when they leave and Dr. Grant observes the official response to the weekend 💙 Spoilers for the book "Jurassic Park": The second book happens on a different island, because Isla Nublar is bombed and destroyed as our surviving Heroes safely watch from their receding helicopter.

Hey guys. This is by far my favorite jurassic park movie, The Lost World. Thank you for reacting. From my understanding Spielberg wanted to make a sequel without the author having even started writing the book. But I love this movie and Spielberg. I recently picked up Spielberg's biography book at the book store. It is called all of his movies. I use to have a few maybe out of order JP comics from Topps not Marvel ha. I think the reason why The Lost World is my ultimate favorite is because, besides from the sentimental attachment I have with it going to see it with my dad in an AMC Theater and both coming out of it like wow 😙. We never wanted it to end. Seeing it now, I know it has its flaws, as an ultimate Lost World fan I can admit it does. But due to it not being perfect from its predecessor makes it so much fun. I think to myself how much fun Spielberg had directing this rather than, oh, The sequel has to top the first. Plus they are dinosaurs, what more can you do with dinosaurs. I mean storywise, I think if had been told animated it would have been a little bit lower and more creative but it wasn't animated and Spielberg still used animotronics & less CGI. Only when needed. One thing I wish could have been extended is the island chase scenes. Originally, there was going to be a jumping off the cliff scene with a parachute and terridactals, forgive my spelling, attacking it and the person but Spielberg saved it for JP3 instead. Cause I think it does go by really quickly, especially after they had said the village is a 3 days hike and it seems like it only took one night and a day at the most, to get to the village, but this is me as an adult watching it for the 12th billionth time. Besides Wayne's World 🌎. Well, this was a fun reaction. I like seeing the true geeky nature of reactionists, who know their stuff, geek out.

1:02:24 In the book, that scene played out fairly differently, because the accordion junction between the two halves of the trailer was pinched shut, due to the one half being flipped onto its roof. The movie doesn't even bother to address that junction.... It also bothers me that the entire trailer falls down around them and their rope isn't jostled at all by the parts of the trailer moving around, and perfectly falls down around them as if their rope was dangling exactly at the center and not ... over the same cliff the trailer was falling from Yeah, this movie bothers me in places lol 😅💙💙

41:53 It really is a shame we don't get more wide shots of this compound. That's a thing I think Spielberg would normally have done better, too, conveying a good understanding of the physical area 💙💙 Although: I think back to E.T. and I still don't understand the interior of that house lol 💙

Originally raptors were supposed to have stowed awway on the ship and eaten the crew but it never made it to film. That's what happens in the first book as well, animals are sneaking off the islands on boats. Also, Mike, Vince Vaughn doesn't play Cowboy in Full Metal Jacket, that's Arliss Howard lol

Hey thanks for watching these lil videos! I'm not sure if I didn't make it clear in the video, but I was referring to Arliss Howard playing cowboy in the reaction, not Vince Vaughn. At some point I even pull up some stills from full metal jacket in the reaction.

0:22 I believe Steven Spielberg is on record saying he doesn't like to do sequels in the first place. This movie was him breaking from that preference. If this movie may be used, I think it shows us why. In my view, the characters are missing the sorts of moments that his movies usually have - moments that show us genuine humanity of the characters in ways that we might not anticipate, whether they're protagonists or antagonists. It seems to me that this movie comes off as the "slasher sequel" to a potentially much more worthwhile movie. 💙💙💙 I have some views on how the third movie relates to the above views, but I will save those for the reaction to it 💙

1:00:43 It is a cool scene, but I feel like Deadpool's sitting next to me, joking about all the death and how terrible it is that nobody gives a * about all the nameless people being devoured by the secret heroes of the movie (*throws popcorn at his mask) lol 😅💙
