This just arrived in the post and I was super excited to share this with you guys. Have a watch and let me know what you think about Paragon FX's attempt at replicating the eponymous Barbasol Can from Jurassic Park
Great in-depth review! Thanks for shooting this. I'd like to see someone make a can accurate to the images from latest Heritage auction - did you see those? There is an inner machined piece nearer the lid where the top of the inner mechanism slides in to. This is great as an idealised version of the prop, I hope someday someone will make a 'warts and all' version based off scans of the original as there appear a few differences. This one is nice and shiny too I notice 👍. You can tell from a machinists point of view this has the bells and whistles, edges all look bevelled etc
Have been thinking of getting this, but I must say for that much money the fact the can does not screw is a dealbreaker. I should be able to grab it like a normal can without worrying about the whole centrifuge coming out. The stickers should’ve also been pre-applied on the vials and come with the liquid.
Received my copy from the US today. Nice prop just very annoying as a 'replica prop' they completely missed the fact that the original screen used prop has a working screw thread to remove the inside section. Hopefully someone will make another more accurate can in the future.
Got mine today. Had that same feeling. I am in love with the prop, not gonna lie, but I just wish they had made the can with the screw part inside to close it more tigthly, which makes it screen accurate and allows you can pick it up without risk of dropping the bottom part.
Quick question, I bought a replica once and the edge of the barbasol can was very sharp where the bottom had been removed. It ended up scratching the centrafuge up really badly. Is this one “lipped” or folded in on itself or anything or is it the raw and sharp edge of metal? Thanks for the video! Great job with the overview
I bought this and it's fantastic. Some might find it a horrific act of violence to modify the prop, but I added a nut to the top of the inside of the can so that the shell can be screwed into the base, just like the movie. It's a little strange that they didn't do this themselves. The top of the base is threaded already.
@@craigtheglasgowgeek4868 I think it was a 1/2 coarse thread. I brought the canister into Home Depot with me. I needed to stack two of them to get the proper height to reach the top of the inside.
