Excellent video Gwion, I'm a massive fan of RC in 00 and the Jurassic Park layout was one of my favourites on the show! Thanks for showing us the innards and how you did it.
@@GwionRhysDavies Excellent! I'm in the (slow) process of converting my fleet to RC, not done any road vehicles yet so will be watching with interest. Even more fiddly than the little Bagnall 0-4-0ST!
I was delighted to find this video clip as I've got a full-size Land Rover that runs on rails. He's called Plimsoll. He's a 1957 Series I. Oxford Diecast has made a 1/43 model of him in standard road-going trim and I understand that they will be releasing a 1/76 railway wheel version at some point. However, I'd love to hear from you with any advice on how I could convert the 1/43 version of Plimsoll to railway wheels. What scale wheels would I need to source?
Converting a 1/43 scale model is a little trickier as it needs bearings for the 2mm axels but is definitely doable, I used Bachmann disk wheels for my conversion however I do fancy they are a bit on the small side. I'm tempted to take another crack at making a more reliable landrover to run off track power in 1/76 scale as I now have far better components and tools to make it possible. If you're interested, I would love to do a collaboration video making these models and comparing them to the real thing. Drop me a message if you're up for that.
