Yes, a little worse than the Ceratosaurus trying to hunt during the mayhem. The scene could be beautiful and entertaining, but it has no sense at all, as 90% of the movie. Sad to see this franchise going on in this way.

@@DonatoColangelo I believe the dinosaur attacking was a carnotaurus, and the only reason it did that was to add 'tension' or get the ball rolling so the door locks on Owen.

@@appledawn6303 yeah, Carnotaurus, my bad. And yes, for that matter you are right, the attacking animals were added to create tension (they failed nonetheless, imho). However, this choice of having an animal behaving in illogical ways (in this case against the instict to run away from a clear danger) weakens the whole thing from top to bottom. One of the problems with these movies is that it depicts animals behaving as monsters. I would have preferred the tension was centered on the real monster here, the pyroclastic cloud. *That* is the monster, not the animals, cause the cloud won't sort dinosaurs, humans, people, while the animals will, and in a situation like that they would surely run. It is too easy to use the animals for whatever you need to make happen in the story and, in the process, you transform the animals in non-animal agents. In some circumstances also Spielberg perhaps treated the animals as monsters or made them doing improbable things (compys hunting down a man for revenge, for example), and I recognize this, but those were few moments in 2 movies. Trevorrow has transformed the franchise in a monster series where the animals are heroes and villains many times.

Rexy is actually seen for only 20 seconds, but they were action packed. Starting at 2:16, when she cancels the carnotaurus. I like how she seems to grunt in satisfaction right after. Followed of course by the great roar of triumph, which is rudely interrupted by the sound wave from the volcano. She then stomps off, shaking her head, no doubt to try to get rid of the ringing in her ears. Everything is great in that scene. Up until that time, the music is frantic, as they are trying to escape the volcano and avoid getting trampled by terrified dinosaurs, then the suspenseful music has the carno is going for Owen, then after Rexy intercedes, a triumphant note. Also, that long shot where Rexy roars is great, as you can see how much bigger she is than Owen.

I believe carnotosaurs were opportunistic predators, I wouldn't put it past the dinosaur to try to make an easy kill in the mayhem. It is somewhat unbelievable to me though that the carnotosaur somehow believed that a fully grown bull chasmosaurus, (or whatever horned dinosaur it was supposed to be), would be an easy kill lol

Notice how she shakes her jaws, after subduing the Carnotaurus at 2:19, We also see her doing this after killing Mills(notice how she uses her foot to "divide" him rather than let her jaws do all the work) and Fending off the other Carnotaurus at the mainland(ramming it with her head). Our girl's in her twilight years and thus her jaws are lacking their former strength, even her roar(still Awesome though) is losing its "Pizzazz".

She did suffer from a tooth problem which hindered her from hunting normally for a time. That is probably why she is considerably slimmer than in JP1. Check out Klayton Fioriti's video which describes this in detail.

@@Santosificationable no the trex in jurassic world is a new cgi model because the one from the first movie jurassic park get lost. This is the main reason why it look so different. They made it different only because it's a similar model but not the same. They also didn't use autodesk maya in 1993! The file from the 3d model was different.

I swear, all of this totally convinces me that Rexy is actually friendly. Poor girl is so misunderstood ;-; I wonder if JW3 will have a Rex hatchling (Maybe actually one of Rexy's young) that gets "tamed" from birth by a main character, that develops into something like blue. Raptor and REX squad? Hell yeah, that'd be awesome. Probably harder to make it cute, though. You can't do the same kind of baby training that blue did with a half-ton behemoth of a Tyrannosaur juvenile.

Yeah, ever since the Spinosaurus killed a T-Rex its like they made them really sensitive about another carnivore replacing them. Like here, Rexy actually KILLS the Carnotaurus by stomping on its throat, and then it bullies ANOTHER Carnotaur at the end of the movie.

Dinosaur was my childhood before Jurassic park. The Carnotaurs were terrifying in that movie, but this scene depicted the animal far more realisticly because Carnotaurus was obviously a lot smaller in real-life than it was in Dinosaur, and it would be taken down pretty easy if it ever tried hunting an animal like Sinoceratops, which is like 4 times its size

To many and even myself, the Tyrannosaurus Rex is a perfect example and proof that even an animal can be a heroic force for nature. You know what I think it means whenever the T-Rex roars after winning? When the T-Rex gives a heroic and epic roar, it's basically saying, "It's over. You are all safe now. This kingdom is now mine." Schoolnurd for once, the sound editor got it right. The eruption is a ways away compared to Rexy, it's gonna take a few seconds for the noise to reach that position. You don't see that very often sadly

The carnotaur was alive while Rexy was doing her victory roar, but what killed it is when she began to retreat from the eruption, she used all her weight to walk on the Carnotaurus, which presumably crushed its throat and spinal cord.

Being one of the seasoned veterans of Isla Nublar, Rexy is smart enough to not head toward the cliff, like all of the other dinosaurs in the stampede. She got caught shortly after that, and got off the island, unlike most of the dinos that you see in this scene.
