Fellow theme park enthusiast Zach joins me to find out what happens when the park is officially open in Jurassic World. Released in 2015 and forgotten by 2016, Jurassic World brought us such memorable things as a consistently moist Bryce Dallas Howard, hilarious Jimmy Fallon hijinx, and an underwhelming update to what was once Zach's favorite ride at Universal Studios. At least we'll always have Judy Greer...
This is an audio commentary ONLY. It is meant to be watched along with the movie so you can raise or lower the volume on the commentary or the movie itself as you wish.

Poor Katie McGrath, her babysitter character really didn’t deserve that brutal of a death… BUT, she did get what is probably the most memorably, unnecessarily harsh death ever and it’s hilarious

Right? I don't know, I think all you can really say the character does wrong is be mildly neglectful. I feel like her voice and a scene or two involving her being on the phone is somehow steering the audience to dislike her, but I can't be sure, because in reality it's a perfectly pleasant voice, and I kinda hoped we were passed the whole "gosh women and their phones amiright" schtick.

Yeah, getting to be in a cool death sequence is based. These actors are real people, and real people like doing cool stunts on camera. I'd sign up to be a random dino mauling victim in the next movie. Imagine your face and expression of terror helping to sell the tension of a crazy action sequence before the main characters take their licks. The fact that people bitch about her death being gratuitous baffles me. Yes, she didn't deserve to die like that, but good people dying undeserved deaths is part of the point of selling the "nature beyond our control" theme. Our human values don't determine who gets eaten by dinosaurs. That side of the conflict is too primal for morality.

Apparently you would actually be able to outrun a T-Rex (yes on high heels), so it’s not entirely unrealistic. The director said it was cheaper relative to other blockbusters, and Universal did not want to spend money on animatronics. The director personally went to the people in charge of the budget and plead his case to have the one animatronic they used. After this movie was successful, the others had more animatronics. The newest one will have animatronics for 14 species.
