The jury also viewed a video of Megan Imirowicz being confronted by police. She could've chosen to live with her mother. She could have called 911 after she threw lye on her father. She could have gone to the hospital when her friend said her dad was in bad shape. I'm sorry but she was 18, not a goddamn 5 year old incapable of understanding what she did. This man suffered for 5 months. 5 months of extreme pain, both his legs amputated, and then had a trachea tube inserted, robbing him of the ability to speak. Spare me the sob story.

Unless you’ve actually experienced having a parent as a drunk, you have no idea what she was going through mentally. Forgotten birthdays, bad living conditions, verbal abuse, and who knows what else he’s missed out on or what he’s done to embarrass and hurt her during her years growing up as a teen. We all know how teenage girls can be, and her mental status was clearly effected by this man’s behavior. I’m not justifying her actions but it’s clear he’d done enough to make her reach a breaking point. I know I came close plenty of times. Seeing my dad stumbling up to my cousin’s graduation after being told to stay home, I pushed him a number of times, he fell over and hit his head. He easily could’ve did from that and it wasn’t my intention.

I don't believe she knew the extent of what happened. Meagan was focused on her graduation which she deserved to be. Meagan wanted an escape from that filthy house and drunk disgustingly dirty father -no disrespect but come on he couldn't even get up to urinate in the bathroom? Can you imagine? Feces and bags of urine by the couch, bugs, animal feces and garbage everywhere. We think how rude she throws garbage at her Dad but garbage was everywhere. I'm certain Meagan wanted to have a special graduation and his decision to drink and not care really affected her and she had it. I believe she grabbed whatever she could and threw it at him. Who has LYE a deadly poison in the house without storing it properly and explain it's dangers to teenagers? Never in a million years would I even own LYE but his house was filthy and probably had repeated clogged drains which might explain why he didn't use the toilet. Think about the whole situation together...we couldn't fathom sitting on the couch much less living in those conditions for any time period. Meagan needed to get away! I don't blame her. She's a kid who's brain isn't fully developed and who's only focus was her celebrating her courageous graduation. I was raised with an alcoholic father and a clean house and I know the underlying hate, frustration and wanting a break wears on you. I bet Meagan cleaned and cleaned but eventually gave up on it focusing on her basic needs and school. He wasn't being a father he was a burden and she loved him regardless. I can see her completely losing it throwing things but not intentionally grabbing a deadly substance to hurt him badly. I think going to a cleaner jail and being out of that toxic situation and home was a break for Meagan. Imagine he bombed the house with them present in the house without leaving and opening doors and windows to air it out? Poison from bug bombs causes severe memory problems and amnesia. Dad could've grabbed the LYE himself being at a .3 which is over 3 1/2 over the legal limit. I find it interesting how it's on his hand the way it is as if his hand opened it. Just saying. Drunk people do amazingly dumb things and don't remember. I'm glad Judge was compassionate, fair and right on with her decision and 100%™agree with it. I hope the Best for Meagan and pray her dreams come true and she can forgive herself. Id like to see her brother's history. She cared for her very sick dad too for a long time and endured extreme neglect and abuse. Her brother escaped and then comes back the Hero? I don't think so. He was able to spin this to benefit himself and was in denial about his father's alcoholism and should have been there for Meagan before this all exploded like maybe reported the conditions of home, the neglect etc. live your best life Meagan.

She picked up a bottle with clear warning labels saying that the product was dangerous and CAUSED SEVERE BURNS. After she threw the lye on him, she poured water all over her father. She knew the two would react! She then went to her birthday party while her father suffered from these fatal burns. She had no remorse, she was even frustrated with her friend when the friend made comments about her dad. The friend said she was worried about her dad and the defendant hung up on her! IMO Megan was old enough to keep the house clean, i use to be much younger than Megan when my Mother was sick in hospital and i took care of the house, my Dad, also made my Dad, my Brother and younger sister lunch at night for the next day. I use to clean the house after school, made a homemade dinner for us. After dinner our three kids do the dishes. my Dad use to drink a lot of tea and i made sure he gets he's tea all the time. No Megan she is useless. I made sure the house is clean at all times and was only twelve years old at that time. Maybe our Afrikaans speaking children is just brought in a very different way. I thank God for it. ❗🙏🙌

My dad was an alcoholic, it was hard, but as much as I wanted to live apart from him in my youth, I wouldn't have done this, neither would my siblings, neither would most children of alcoholics. My dad lived to 100. I got to know him and understand him more the last 30 years. I forgave him, I even washed his feet (literally) after he broke his hip and I cared for him a month. Forgiveness gives us a better life and we can b satisfied how it all turns out in the end, tho I will never forget the terrible things he did when drunk. I don't believe a person who would do this should ever live freely in our world, they r broken, but if she truly wants forgiveness, God will let her live freely in His heaven. I hope her dad is there and she joins him one day and they will both be restored and healed of their brokenness.

Rough home life???? Well cry me a river, I had a similar rough home life growing up as I'm sure many have, and I would NEVER have dreamed of throwing Anything at my parents, such horrible disrespect, those crazy defense lawyers just act as if it was normal to throw things at ones father and it was bad luck that it just happened to be lye! If the house was so filthy why didn't the lazy daughter clean it up or how about the brother or other siblings? Where is the mother? She doesn't know how to clean? Angry because you didn't get to go to a hotel for your 18th birthday party and get your hair done?!! What a spoiled brat, lots of people are WORKING at age 18. Hanging up the phone when you find out your FATHER is in the emergency room cause all you want is his credit card number? What is wrong with people? I certainly hope she is punished for this, yes the father had issues but it sounds like he never said anything negative toward his daughter, wait till she gets older and sees what life is really like, little brat.

This “girl” turned 18 that day & she’s an adult, not some snotty nose little baby. They keep trying to make the Dad out to be this horrific person because he was an alcoholic but alcoholism is a disease. My best friend is an alcoholic & he’s the nicest guy you would ever meet with the biggest heart & he’s NEVER nasty, mean, intolerable or says anything foul mouthed! He’s a functioning alcoholic. Not every alcoholic is bad! Then they speak of how disgusting the house was…well, Dad wasn’t obviously a cleaner but Megan could have cleaned the house! Her mom testified her room at her Dad’s was a horrible mess! Why wasn’t she helping out & cleaning? The day this happened, she was big mad because it was her birthday. How many Dad’s forget kids birthdays? I know a lot of them can’t keep track of dates! So she gets mad at her Dad because he’s passed out & she throws lye & water on him while he’s passed out & people think she didn’t mean to do this? If she didn’t mean to do this, why would she throw the water after the lye to activate it? Why did she send her friend to the house to get his credit card info instead of going to get it herself? Why wasn’t she in the least bit concerned when her friend & brother both called her to tell her that her Dad was in the hospital? Wouldn’t she ASK why? No, she hung up in them! She never even ASKED them why because she KNEW what she did! Her mom was covering up for her on the stand today if you watch the trial. BUT..she made a great point…the kids CHOSE where they wanted to live! So Megan didn’t HAVE to live with her Dad, she CHOSE to live there! She could have lived with her mom but I’m sure she would have had rules there she didn’t want to follow! What she did is HORRIFIC! Her father spent 5 months dying from the injuries SHE caused him! She wasn’t crying today when her mom testified over her Dad, she was crying for herself!

She was acting like a spoiled brat and was mad at him !!!! I don’t think she tried to kill him. However she was not concerned or worried about if she caused him harm or injury!! So I feel like manslaughter is appropriate charge! But 18months is a slap on the wrist for what she did to her father just because she was mad and frustrated! Written before i knew there was a verdict... Both my parents were alcoholic and broke my heart often, especially my mom. She had no conscience and was very cruel, but i would never have thought to harm her; i just wanted to get away from her. It was pure torture living with her. I was ashamed and felt dirty being near her. She did terrible things to many, not just us. I left. It cost me dearly, but i probably would do it again. I was put in jail. I pleaded for help, but no one would, so i ran, which is illegal! It was many, many years ago. I am old, but that trauma never really leaves when things come up. It comes back so clearly. Too bad. I get over it quickly, but it is funny how this reminds me. Again, i would absolutely have NEVER hurt her in any way. I loved her in spite of her. I did not want to be like her, either. Both of my siblings died at a young age because of her damage, but i determined at 12 to leave as soon as i could and live differently and away from my goofy family. I really loved them, but we are talking physical and mental survival. So i can understand her deep sadness, anger, and disgust, but to do that, wow! It could be symbolic in a way to cleanse him in her mind... to get free of his gross behaviors and gross odors. I hope she gets mental health help as well as a fairly lengthy sentence.
