A truly deserved tribute to pharmacists everywhere. They are amazing patient advocates who don't even THINK about sleeping until the Doctor responds their multiple requests for patient refills.. Thank you all!
My wife is a P3 Pharm Student. They definitely earn that pay. She hasn't decided if she wants to do a residency yet but she does want to work at Hospital and not retail.
I remember this patient who has chronic pain and had a buttload of IV and PO narcs prescribed and her pain was still not in control. The pharmacist perused her chart and talked to the pt. and whipped up a combination of PO meds which only included ONE narc. This finally controlled her pain and was able to go home in a couple of days. I love pharmacists. They are the unsung heroes in the medical field and in our hospital, they are always SUPER nice and are willing to answer questions...they also tube up candies to the floors on Valentines day and Halloween. :) I am currently a nurse, but if given a chance to switch fields, I would like to be a pharmacist.
Love the pharmacist shout outs! Hospitalists tell me a diagnosis and I give them options to treat. Give me some more time and I can see what their insurance covers so no Prior Auth is required on discharge.
Please don't forget us BS Pharms who did 5 years of school and especially those of us who clinically specialized for 4 years and then took an exam from Hell for board certification! 5 year pharmacists should have been grandfathered in or at least allowed to take a competency exam but all the new pharmacy schools opening up just saw the $$$ in making BS Pharms into Pharm D's.
I have yet to meet a pharmacist who isn't compassionate, professional, and slyly funny as long as they are being given basic human courtesy, and that's whether or not I approach as an RN for medication information or as a patient family member. I've had quiet crushes on most of the ones that I work with because of how wonderful they are when I need their personal help (you need their general help at a remove all of the time)!
I wish I had y'alls pharmacists. The ones I get my drugs from are great, but the ones I work with are all rude lazy jerks who blame every issue on nurses.
as a former CPh. T this is beautiful and i love you sir. idk what the sig code for love is but i hope you don't make it DAW 1 and write the pharmacy that i will be required to fill it at as CVStress
