flakisimo they do but you have to look harder for them and outside the USA. We are like white people- we like whatever sells, whatever is popular. We say we want more Black, diversity we call it, but check in with the behavior. Do we mean it? Is that evident in our everyday practices, in our creativity, in what we produce or manufacture or own? We’re becoming...still.
Morals and Values . These movies today are brainwashing some people into thinking that is the way families are supposed to be (Bickering , drama , chaos etc). But I beg to differ , anyone else agree ?!! Raise your children right and you won't have to worry about a thing or be the Ruins and they will take it from there.........!
@@Serenityafterall so are You Yourself besides in this day of age so much easier say than done even if Your raise Your Children right there are still those who will influence those who are raised right end up going bad regardless especially when We have no support from Our Own Society who sees the worse in Us anyway!
Movies to enlighten our masses, wake us up and to educate us has fallen by the wayside. I recall, as a kid, when black folks were more loving towards each other and had a stronger spirituality base. IDK, granted there are more single parent households now, and the roles for parenting have increased in responsibility due to this. I believe that for our people to get a leg up on this, self-love and love for each other is a force now to contend with, but it can be done.
I throughly enjoyed this movie, on a lazy, rainy Saturday afternoon. It brings on feelings of joy and unity towards all people. Also, it shows Mr. Van Peebles softer side.
Oh my God! I remember this movie! This movie takes me back to the 1970s when I was in my 20s. Movies back then portrayed positive images of black people even though their was a protagonist and antagonist but yet and still, black people were portrayed in either a historical, heroic, or spiritual way.
Yeah MY Name is TAMMY ANN OFIELD N YES I DON'T EXPECT FOR MY NAME TOO GET BIG IT DONT MATTER BUT PEOPLE TALK ABOUT I WANT THIS N THAT BUT YEAH I GOT THIS OR THAT BUT I GOT THIS OR THAT BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY R YOU HAPPY NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT GOT BUT IT TAKES ALOT HAVE SOMEONE TOO LOVE YOU WITH OR WITHOUT
now that's what families in any color act communicate and be prospers life in a clean way . thanks for a film like this. now we had maverick films were on the sepia touch of many color. they're free on RU-vid. I also today Jah bless. we had to open a yr own venue. if you seen a family movie when every generation love. thanks to you RU-vid,reel back and maverick films.
Love this movie that's when family stood together and really loved one another the brothers are the guys from Sounder. There's another wonderful Christmas movie with the grandma Bea Richards A dream for Christmas it's a wonderful movie check ii out
@@lauraveney1412 I’m absolutely sure that is a global problem and not just in the “south”. What is not is the opportunity to own land and resources, plant nutritional food in your yard or acres of “real”estate that increases your wealth as it increases in value
That's how it is meant to be. Unfortunately we have all been dragged into the miserable matrix of today. Watch this for further insight: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ybxSECS9jxY.html
@@getoutofthematrix3757 I totally couldn't agree with You more We came a long way since this film now a days it's all about Hood or Reality shows & films like this garbage show Empire or Power for example but thank God for the Cosby Show, Black Panther, & Wakanda at least to gives Us really something to really think about how to wake up & start making some real changes for Ourselves within Ourselves & within Each Other yes We need changes to happen to the fastest before it's too late Family!
This movie really made me miss my grandmother. There's nothing like a grandmother's love. Once she is gone, it seems like the family structure changes. They have wisdom that can carry you for years.
So true there is nothing like a grandmother and her love. My grandmother has been gone since 1985 and I still think about her at some point in every day. My grandmothers name was Enola, she was 1st lady to my grandfather who was a Pastor. Some of my family calls me Enola Jr. because I am all about the family and making sure we stay close as a family. I wear the name proudly with honor 😇
I second that emotion and agree a thousand plus percent as well as Elder Robert & Brother Kevin Hooks & the late great Legendary/Elder Lincoln Kilpatrick almost the most underrated Actor who been in almost every films in the 70s on up to Hoodlum!
Than don't sleep with white bore children dear 😀😃most of black they're with white boyfriends white girlfrends dream of white family white child i don't like that
@@yasminenazarine1629 you say that.in next breath you will say white is no diferent to black people.well you obviously dont like that.my grandaughter has black partner 2 kids.THEY DONT SEE COLOUR JUST A MAN THAT LOVES AND RESPECTS HER AND A DAMN GOOD DAD.THEY DONT NEED PREDUGESS. were all human beings black or white were all same as god is colour blind
I feel like this is the time period I’am really from. When you had a VILLAGE to help. Mother, father in the home. Innocent times. When I watch things like this, I feel a ya home feeling, like a longing... I don’t belong in this time rn. 😂
Although I'm white being from a poor coal mining village in south wales.to see one of our kids get to university my god makes you proud.when I watch these films it's about family values in home and love and respect for your grandparents.all sadly gone an era of love respect and family
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Sorry for your loss of your Father. My prayers are to you and yours, may you have the strength to carry on, the previous memories to keep you in great spirits and the love he had to you and your family is forever imbedded in each of you. I'm living in the deep South and it's no other place I rather be. I've lived in the big cities and have traveled extensively. Every place has some issues but the people here in the south are genuine and thoughtful and kind. They don't mind assisting you in any way. Of course you have to be the same way in order to receive it.
That's right Sister Keisha L this kinds of movies should be made today to uplift Our Family and uplift Our People besides Hidden Colors & every once a while Brother Spike Lee Joints!
Corrections this kind of movies back then should uplift Our People to start supporting Our Own & stop being Victims of the systems of outsiders' racist/sexist interferences against Us of fighting & hating Each Other!
Yes I agree.i know this comment isnt about this wonderful film.but it makes me think about the real red indians america just took thier lands and shoved them on horrible land they were treated as bad as black people we didnt have this in u.k but when I watch these films I honestly didnt know alot of how black people were treated.not allowed to drink out of whites taps schooling.got america has wronged so many people
This is how life should be. Just simple country life. Not the matrix that many of us have been tricked to embrace. No wonder people in those days were leaner, healthier and stronger. Thanks for a beautiful movie.
I stopped sewing my yarn wig to watch this good movie...movies today are terrible and once you leave broke from damn near spending almost $100.00...you learn nothing and mad because you spend that must cash, clueless about the theme shown...good movies like this one with your own race is priceless...thanks for posting!!!
I wish tv shows were still like this. I’m only 19 & watching just one episode of this has showed me how many values we lack today. I come from a biracial family. (Black & White) & It really bothers me that I never got to experience what it’s like to have a family that sticks together like this. This is how family is supposed to be.
I can't put into words how I enjoy movies like this. It's good old fashion love, hope, and joyfulness! Thank you to whomever responsible for allowing us to see these movies. God bless you!
My Family is Black too,and a long Time I didn't understand how important its for old black Grandmams to be with her Family when they feels the Death are looking around the corner. By the Way, whats happens with the Black Middel Class today in the United States?
I really enjoyed this picture. I also hope that many "city kids" will one day get the chance to experience family, culture and traditions "down south" as some say. This definitely should have been picked up as a weekly series. Hopefully, some aspiring film-maker will envision family life in the south.
This is an Excellent movie, a must see. This is the way family is supposed to be. Together, love, happiness, guidance from God. Family is truly a blessing.👍
I Love classic, old sitcoms & movies…. This was a Good movie, Great Storyline & Amazing Acting! Cicely Tyson was so gifted and Talented.. That woman could Bring To Life Any Character, she tapped in to! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I really loved the father & son scenes!
This movie really shows the beginning of the end. Gang culture, black people who forgot their roots (south), husband and wife talking at each other not to each other, feminism. Sad man...
Wow! What a lovely film definitely one to be proud of! People were just being people. Family stuck together young and old, husband and wife actually listening to each other showing consideration and patience. Kids even the older ones showing respect in his own way as he grows into a real man like his father. The father showing love to his son(s) and attention to his daughter just by being present, a simple play date and talking with his girl will make that young lady grow into a wonderful woman like her mother! I'm so happy I watch this... now let's see if I can find another like it...
Elder/Madame Cicely Tyson was beautiful back in Her days I don't care She still beautiful to this day today but Elder Robert & Brother Kevin Hooks are just as effective I didn't even know there was another Son/Brother Eric Hooks I wonder what ever happened to the Hooks Family? I know Brother Kevin Hooks is still directing TV shows and some movies!
Serenityafterall I’m from the South and there’s nothing wrong with moving away for better even up North. Just never forget your where you come from and visit from time to time! Truth!!!
Why Brother Tyler Perry? What about Brother Spike Lee or Brother Ryan Coogler & few Others can't say Brother John Singleton because He's home with Our Ancestors. But aren't They're just as important as Brother Tyler Perry Himself?
BET NEED TO STEP UP THEIR GAME. THEY NEED TO SHOW MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS INSTEAD OF RERUNS AND THE SAME MOVIES OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I DID NOT KNOW THIS MOVIE EXISTED! THESE MOVIES WOULD DO WELL ON WEEKENDS! “JUST SAYIN”
Today was my first time seeing this movie in all of my 42 years, and I thought I'd seen all the old films. Thx @reelblack for sharing our rich heritage.
I enjoyed watching this movie , there is so much real life experiences and challenges that family, church and the wider community at large encounter; but one thing for certain family matters. I must also say the ease of not having to mute or endure raw sexual activities or continual cussing using the 'F' word was welcoming. We need more movies like this one.
That woman sitting with Ciciely at the table in the kitchen , is the same woman from Down in the Delta. She lived in Chicago and took her family south too. I like how they linked that❤
No+ what a beautiful movie 🎬 this particular movie took me back to a place I once called home in the very deep south where you appreciate what you had and how to survive if you moved to the city with the bright lights and your elders taught you wisdom but always said pay your taxes you can always come 🏠 back home they where true facts. With great memories. Thanks for the upload reelback.
Touching story line on the black family experience unique to those who lived it. I wish we saw more of these. Thanks for sharing this beautiful movie and great acting also! 👏
I'm going to say this, in the south 60s 70s 80s 90s when family values hadn't fallen away the generations did graduate and go to work asap, own a home by 30 and stay on the same job 10 to 30 years. Knew 40 was getting old and retirement is in your 50s. Enjoying leisure all your 60s and beyond with no stress... Now all my northern relatives thought we were slow down South, many may still think we too simple.
LOVE the family dynamics in this movie. I wonder if the worm on the fishing pole at the end was from his worm farm. Also...God works in mysterious ways.
