Many cultures with arranged marriages do not allow a divorce. He can have mistresses; she cannot. If she is caught cheating, she will likely be killed by either her in-laws or even her parents and siblings. So of course the divorce rate is low.
Hi grandma and Wade the "pantomime cup is actually a shaving mug the soap goes in the top with the hot water in the mug and the shaving brush goes into the water via the "spout" hope this helps love your videos !
Just watching you two makes me happy. I find myself laughing like crazy so many times cuz you guys go great together! Mother and son who love and respect each other shines through.
Metal tankards often come with a glass bottom. The legend is that the glass-bottomed tankard was developed as a way of refusing the King's shilling, i.e., conscription into the British Army or Navy. The drinker could see the coin in the bottom of the glass and refuse the drink, thereby avoiding conscription by not taking the money.
I think, that pan with the "holes" that Grandma asked if it was an egg cooker , is an Aebleskivers pan. My grandma has a cast iron one when i was little. Its a Danish donut hole.
Davy Crockett fought and died at The Battle of the Alamo (February 23 - March 6, 1836), a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution. Following a 13-day siege, Mexican troops under President General Antonio López de Santa Anna reclaimed the Alamo Mission near San Antonio de Béxar (modern-day San Antonio, Texas, United States), killing most of the Texians and Tejanos inside. Santa Anna's cruelty during the battle inspired many Texians and Tejanos to join the Texian Army. Buoyed by a desire for revenge, the Texians defeated the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, on April 21, 1836, ending the rebellion in favor of the newly-formed Republic of Texas.
I’ve got a set of the Lennox ornaments. They’re beautiful! I’m like Ashley, I collect Christmas decorations. I also am a collector of frogs. I would be very interested in purchasing the frog ornament. This has been my favorite video yet. We used to put that tinsel on our tree every year. Limb by limb, a single icicle at a time.
Hi Wade and Gramma V You guys are a hoot. I love your guesses on some of the items. That silver dish with the holes is a flower frog. Nice one. The cup that you thought was an adult cup is a pig nose when you tip it up and drink out of it. LOL. Leta
Pantomime is a comical play put on over Xmas time. Very British. It is just a print on the shaving mug. A bar of shaving soap goes on the top, hot water goes in the bottom and a stubby brush dips in the hot water and then rub on the soap to make a lather to brush over the face before shaving. Rinse the brush in the hot water. My Dad used one every day until he died 4 years ago.
The music box tune is "We Wish You A Merry Christmas", and the parts should be loose. The skaters have magnets on their bottoms, and there are moving magnets under the 'ice', so all of the skaters move all by themselves, while the different tiers rotate too.
the exposure meter is for photography. It told you how much light was available at any given day or time of day so you could set the f-stops on your old film camera appropriately. Nowadays our smart cameras have built in exposure meters.
The maple sap looks clear but it is very sweet. As kids we would go steal some of the sap to drink. It takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup. The season does not last long at all. The nights must be very cold and the days a little warm. Spring time only. Some places in the world tap the white birch trees also. These storage bins have been great. I hope you made lots of money! You will have to tell us and show us how many items your mom or wife keep.
The metal kitchen tool at 48:22 is a "Slice-a-Slice"--it's for slicing a slice of bread in half to make it thinner and thus lower calories! You put the slice in between the sides of the tool, stand it up feet-down and hold it together then slice down with a bread knife. Quirky old kitchen tool!
Love your videos your guesses as to what something's are are so funny. Will be thinking about Grandma ventures tomorrow as she gets her eye operation done.
Good luck on your eye surgery 🍀🍀🍀My father had it and could see fine soon after it. Everything just seemed blue and very clear because he was looking through his cloudy lens for so long. You will be so happy to be able to see so clearly.🙏👍🍀
Davey Crocket..the war was the Mexican american war --southerners mostly ---settled in Mexico-what is now Texas--they passed the Nueces River which was the disputed boundary mark, the texans wanted to be independent //then part of the union--one battle was the Alamo--"Remember the Alamo" --that war---Winfield Scott was the main General--Lee and Grant fought in it as well.
Opps I hit some wrongbutton but try putting the the tea pot and measuring thing together, and you'll have have an old fashioned drip coffee pot. Signing off before before I hit another wrong button. Ann Lyn from N. M
The tune that is playing on the wood music box is we wish you a merry Christmas. We wish you a merry Christmas. We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
the powder you are referring to from taco bell was the pack of seasoning that was added to the ground beef when we cooked the meat fresh in the store. just like back in the day we would fry the taco and tostada shells fresh and make the refried beans fresh in the store. now everything is received from a processing plant and just warmed up. also that fan like item that was in with the kodak stuff is the flash mechanism that attaches to a camera and the bulbs fit in that. the bulbs are only good for one flash. unused are smooth surface and the used will have a bubbling surface to them.
at about 39:00 you are tryin to figure out what the wooden thing is. It is a book holder not a cutting board. It was commonly used for cookbooks on the counter and today it is a entry level project for wood working at grade 7 here in Northern Alberta.
OMGosh, Tinsel. Grandma Venture, my mom did the same thing-- 1 strand at a time and we didn't dare put more on. It was lead tinsel back in the day, she stopped using it because of the static problem the "new tinsel" caused pulling off the tree if someone walked to close to the tree.
I'm coming across as a know it all but I just want to let you know the exposure meter is used with old film cameras to get the light right there was no auto settings then the thing that fanned out was a flash a bulb goes in the middle and the wire went into the camera and the ring adapters are for putting on filters and some are for lenses I hope this helps from Fiona in Scotland
The glass cylinder art item at the beginning really surprised me because I'm spray painting two pearl white . Put the first of three coats on yesterday . Definitely Coca - Cola .
Not long before grandma's cataract removed hope everything goes well mine did so please don't worry I will be thinking about her lots of love ❤ from great Britain ❤ 😊 💖
Another great video 🙂 The Karlovy Vary mug is from Czech Republic in Europe 🙂 There is a city name Karlovy Vary. It is the biggest health resort sanatorium in Chech Republic 🙂
Wow! Just found your poshmark store!!!! NICE! so many beautiful, and interesting things. Too bad the bear wreaths only got $20 they were super cute! Love the old tools, kitchen stuff. I'm keeping an eye out for arts and crafts/sewing stuff, antique or new. and an antique egg stand I've been looking for for years that stores the eggs on the counter, in a spiral, so you can eat them in the order they are layed. Very handy if you have a few chickens and don't buy eggs from the store. I keep watching hoping to see you find one.
Kilts are worn in Scotland and no we don’t wear them all the time. Only special occasions, like weddings, Hogmanay etc. Rest of the time we dress like you guys 🙈
The meter is a light meter for measuring your lighting for setting the camera exposure for a totally manual camera. The fan type device is an old time Flash for a manual camera, those bulbs go with it. The wire plugs into the camera. The cigar box holds camera parts for various different lenses to make the lenses fit onto the camera, the short cylinders are what held rolls of undeveloped film when purchased, they later came in plastic cylinders with caps. Somewhere there might have been a manual Kodak camera if not together with these items.
The wooden piece that I was talking about was the one you asked if it was for slicing bread but it’s actually a gravity bookshelf just lean your books on it I love mine and it was perfect for the kitchen for cookbooks
Think the cups with the sipping spouts on them that you thought might be whistles are Karlovy Vary Sipping Cup from Czechoslovakia. Used to sip mineral water at spas.
Exposure meter is for measuring light before taking a photo. The round metal fan like thing is a flash device that the flash bulbs go in to create light for taking the photo.
That glass.piece looks nice against your rock wall. Pepsi person here. Pepsi has more bubbles....love the bubbles. diet Pepsi mixed with Dr. Pepper. Awesomeness.
Coke! Hands down! No comparison! Smart lady, that momma of yours😉 Sun drop beats all when it comes to lemon lime flavor Soda. And Dr Pepper is always the best back up.
