this was actually really insightful. even as the show was rushed, these decisions were well made and you really pointed it out! well done!

Your analysis is so thorough that I wish more people could see this video. I would love if you would also expand on how Charlie's reaction to Vaggie's betrayal (secret keeping) is an additional example that propels her to self-reflection of her black and white thinking. Great video!

Thank you for pointing it out because i noticed this in the show too like you said. Angels do seem to get away a lot of things in the show, Adam being allowed to swear and not Charlie, moving up the extermination because it's entertainment and why the hell not?and getting rid of angels like Vaggie who only spared a sinner once making her a fallen angel . Angels and seraphim don't not even know what got them there in the first place and let Adam write what was required

It is interesting that, though she made the claim/accusation that Lucifer allowed the Exterminations to happen without a care in existence in front of the group, but not once did we see her confront him with those same claims. She's upset that he won't believe in her dreams, support what she's fighting for, but when she first voiced how she thinks about getting Lucifer involved, it's not “i don't think he would care, I doubt he will help". It's straight up accusing her own father of allowing genocide with a level of certainty of how it went down that, because she's giving us the exposition, we as the audience have to take at face value because she's the one narrating it as fact. Of course, the next scene, we're treated with a dizzying whiplash when Daddy Duck makes his debut, but my point stands: she never actually brings up what she actually accused him of doing to his face, the decision for him to help her is concluded by him choosing to believe in her, but it doesn't resolve what she initially voiced about him.

"So, why did Charlie say this:" "He just let the extermination happen!" ... cut to Husker: "Daddy issues."

When it comes to growing up and parental blame I did a lot of healing and understanding with the perspective of a struggling young adult. It was a lot easier bc my mom (the guiltiest party) looked back and grew herself and Apologized to me and had changed her behaviors going forward with my younger sibs. I was the first one at 16. My mom was just a child having a child and struggling alone. She did her best

This is a very beautiful video and gives very good topics to discuss too. Even if Hazbin is not perfect in any way, what I love about the show is the representations of the grays, and the difference between a good and nice person, the hard decisions that sometimes one must do when you literally have so little power over your own choices and the hypocrisy of the leaders/institutions that stand for "goodness" or in God's name. People don't get it when I say that Charlie is my favorite character and is a fantastic protagonist, just because she isn't as "flashy" as the other characters doesn't mean she's boring, I love her! She reminds me so much of those people with actual power that want to actually change things for the better, because they are good hardworking people that believe in the potential of others, but they are also sometimes a little naive and somewhat sheltered, so the normal population don't respect them at all and it doesn't help to make others listen to their ideas, because obviously it sounds like nonsense of a delusional privilege person. I hope that in the next season my girl will learn that sometimes if you actually want certain types of people to listen and obey you (as rightfully so, like Charlie, sweetie, you are the powerful princess of hell!) you must show them who the boss is! Like in her fight with Adam wow I'm so proud of her!

Great vid! So far I haven't seen anyone else point this part of Charlie's development out, so I'm glad you brought it up. :)

Personally, I think that what got Charlie to actually forgive her father was to see that he might actually be rejecting the sinners out of grief. Because he’s afraid of losing them, he isn’t willing to see them as they are and get attached.

He endured so much failure he can't get attached. Charlie succeeding with Pentious might be what's needed to help

My take on things based on what we have seen so far. Lucifer lost faith in humanity. To him it was his failure. And rather than take responsibility for it he turned his back on the sinners and left them to their own suffering. Instead he made ducks. Lilith maintained her hope for humanity. She was not gathering them together to fight. She was trying to bring Hell together as a community. With empathy for each other. Charlie's recollection of Lilith is one of her being the caring mother. Compassionate. Lucifer was remote and had lost his dreams. Lilith told Charlie about his dreams and she still fought for them. The scene we are shown of Lilith taking Charlie away from Lilith was not her leaving. It was her taking Charlie away because she was asking about Lucifer's past and dreams. It was triggering him and making his depression worse. It was Lilith's compassion. Charlie even says that her Hotel idea is based on her mother's crusade. It has always been about compassion and not power. Lilith was opposed by the more predatory Overlords and Heave. Heaven was afraid more because they didn't know what the rules were. And Hell raising a fuss may expose them. So they have to find a way to stop them from uniting. So Lilith lacks muscle for her goals. So she taps Alastor. While she is powerful her powers are more about persuasion and singing. So she offered Alastor a boost to his power in exchange for his soul and the charge to take on the uncivil Overlords. This fit well with Alastor's existing MO. And he chewed through the predatory Overlords. Leaving behind civil Overlords such as Carmilla and Zestial. But then the Vees arise. Matched in power with Alastor. And when Alastor confronted them he fell to Vox. It must have been a close fight because Vox is still scared of him. But Alastor had to flee. This left Lilith exposed. And this is when Heaven sent Adam to confront Hell about Lilith's endeavors. But Adam had his own agenda. He still was angry about Lilith turning her back on him. So he demanded that Lilith return to him or else his army would kill everything in Hell including the young Charlie and other Hellborn. Thus Lucifer and Lilith agreed to the deal. Because Lucifer had lost faith in humanity he did not stop the Extermination of them by Adam. But he did fight to save the Hellborn including Charlie. Thus when Adam struck Charlie the deal was broken. And that is when Lucifer entered the fight. And when Adam was dead Lute took the Halo up to Heaven and told Lilith the deal was over because Adam was dead. And that Heaven now saw Charlie as a threat. And that she had better go back to Hell and get her brat under control. So season 2 is going to see Lilith return to Hell to try to stop Charlie. She still loves both Charlie and Lucifer. But she has to stop Charlie or Heaven will find a way to end her. However Charlie is fighting for the same thing Lilith was fighting for and she still believes it. Thus Charlie will win her over and Lilith will join with Lucifer in teaching Charlie how to use her powers properly to defend Hell and all those she cares for. Go on and ask me about Eve.
