Considering how screwed over women get in the Bible, seeing Lilith get into heaven and live an easy afterlife is such a girl boss achievement that I can't help but respect it. Even if I don't end up liking her I can respect a women who takes back the good that Heaven denied her from the start and force them to acknowledge that they screwed her over from the jump and give her a break.

Good to see you're continuing with this - your remarks about the use of space are always interesting. Re your title for this reaction, they could have made more of Edwin having lived 100 years ago. Apart from his costume and a wider and more formal vocabulary than Charles has, I don't think it really comes through.

Agreed! I think they did they did a good job within the scope of what they set out to do, but if the show had more time for slower character progression, Edwin vs modernity would have been a great thing to put more focus on, both for building his character and for angst and humor scenarios.

How inbred are the Goetia?...yes...Goetia is a family name and they are the only birds, one big family. So theory they are Shedim, extra dimensional species, which we know there are other realms and reaches of reality in this setting, with one or more families in Heaven (we see similar bird humanoids on billboards and such when Charlie went to Heaven), so the Goetia are a family that serves Hell.

So this is total fan theory territory and one shippers don't like. So Loona's reaction to Bee'lzebub as super awkward and defensive might be more than just because of Tex, and Bee's attitude towards her especially as she seems to come down off the high she had at the start might be because Bee might be her biological mother. So the adoption papers has Bee's signature on it...which stands out more in season 2 with the altered document seen in a background shot. This same theory has suggested Sourcream wasn't an insult but Loona's birth name. There are additional theories as to why Loona would have been put up for adoption and passed around different families ranging from teaching her how awful hellhounds have it , to Bee is just high most of the time and didn't realize how bad the adoption system was or know that a governor/governess she sent Loona to legally bad dumped her in the system, among others. Loona's past either way is a mystery a d Bee's signature on her adoption papers is cause for other fan theories... although personally find it weird she would sign every adoption paper just because Hellhounds come from Gluttony, it's like thinking Satan must sign all adoption papers for every imp put up for adoption.

The Goetia seem to be the ones who care about regal status the most, being power wise between the Sins and Overlords but having the responsibilities to manage the affairs of Hell properly while the Sins are treating Hell like a circus to have their fun, like demonic gods or celebrities vs the image obsessed Goetia. On another note there is a fan theory all but confirmed that each ring of Hell was home to a different species of Hellborn (or multiple) and the rings were originally separated but were linked fairly recently so the regular hellborn have forced a hierarchy with each other based on power and hybrids have been popping up as they interbreed.

'Via and Stolas have very much the same way of communicating, but 'Via is far more bitter. Both need counseling. I grew up in a shit household, so I do have deficits on how I act, even at 61. Plus, I'm fairly sure I have mild Aspies, because sometimes I just don't _get_ people. When people act out, like Karens do, I stand there in confusion, going 'WTF?" because it makes no sense to me. Or when I try to explain something to someone that should be well understood, and they refuse to get it, I just don't understand why they _don't_ get it. Willfully ignorant or stupid people baffle me. My half brother who was six years older than me would do crap that made me go 'Why are you doing this, you are going to get us both in trouble'. But he wouldn't listen, so we got in trouble. My mother insisted I was 'born old' because I seldom acted like a little kid, and understood things on an adult level, but not a child's level. I would go into the over stimulated meltdowns, but I noramly hid when I did that. I still do.

Isn't it kinda unfair to say that his getting emotional/teary eyed in apology tour makes him childish/immature? Doesn't that imply he shouldn't cry when he needs to for fear of being viewed as childish? That he should bottle up his emotions until after Blitz leaves and cry alone as he did after Ozzies (and Full Moon, too, as he banished Blitz the moment he saw him cry for the first time)? I'd argue it was good that Blitz saw this more vulnerable side of Stolas, the real Stolas rather than some immortal, untouchable prince who can't be hurt.
@kyratries
@kyratries 4 дня назад
No matter what I personally think about crying and showing emotion, doing so in public is not considered an adult thing to do. If an adult is crying in public, we assume something is really wrong. With a child, it may be a very simple issue that is easily solved. I’m not implying anything, just looking at behavior through a societal lens. Hope that helps!

I'm going to say this because I've been saying this for a long while. From the very beginning Stolas started a sex for services situation with Blitz. They never had a romance, they never dated. From the very beginning, it was always sex for services. Stolas started this whole thing and ended it on his own terms without Blitz's input. Stolas is a prince of hell with money, power, and privilege. And he used his privilege to be able to have Blitz sleep with him once a month in exchange for an item that allowed him to do his business. And throughout this whole thing the owl has been nothing but condescending, classist and spineless. My issue is why does everyone gloss over that ? And I think it's because most people are just like Stolas. They've got selective memories and selective hearing.
@ashebennett7726
@ashebennett7726 5 дней назад
Bro that’s a bad take. First of all, nobody is glossing over anything. Second of all, being royal, doesn’t mean your life would be easier. Ever heard of sword of Damocles? Never compare your behind the door scenes to someone else’s spotlight reel. And no, it wasn’t always sex for service in Stolas’ perspective. Stolas always loved Blitz, and blitz took advantage of his feelings to get what he wanted. Blitz does something and Stolas says “well why don’t we keep doing this?” Two people making an agreement, which Blitz could’ve turned down btw, to have sex in exchange for something doesn’t mean the entire relationship is inherently based off of sex. Only if the two don’t communicate that which both are at fault for. They made the agreement and both assumed two different things. To blitz, it’s just business. To Stolas, he hopes for it to develop to something more. Both which are VALID outcomes. And he did not just “spring it all onto him”, he just didn’t spell it out which most people don’t when courting someone. Stolas did show how much he cared for Blitz by running to his side when needed help, texting blitz things that aren’t sex related or for favors that didn’t involve sex, and blitz constantly ignored them because he didn’t think it was possible which isn’t on Stolas. Even the scene at Ozzie’s when people accused Stolas of “being ashamed” of being seen with Blitz which doesn’t make sense otherwise he wouldn’t have gone in the first place. Stolas was ashamed of being called out for destroying his family for sex and Blitz misinterpreted that. And most of all, when he gets called out for that AND when Blitz says their relationship is only “about sex” Stolas was disgusted with himself and makes moves to cut the string he unknowingly had Blitz on. Point is, Stolas and Blitz are both products of their own environments. Both are flawed. Difference? Blitz is self destructive and ACTIVELY hurts people on purpose. Stolas is naive and a bit ignorant and does things that UNINTENTIONALLY hurts people but then PROMPTLY changes his behavior and tried to fix things (though not perfectly) once it’s brought to his attention. You can acknowledge when someone is flawed, but let’s not act like Stolas does things on the same level as Blitz does. Especially since Blitz is just as vulgar, if not more so, than Stolas is.

Tell me you didn’t actually pay attention to very much of the story without telling me you didn’t pay attention to the story. I love how people like to make stolas out to be some kind of sex pest (who never spoke about anything other than sex when it is very clearly shown over and over in the show he is constantly trying to get the relationship to evolve past a sexual relationship and just hang out cuddle or talk) when the only one whose grabbed peoples genitals without consent is literally blitz lmfao. He is sexually aggressive to his employees constantly who very clearly do not want him to be AND he’s been a nonconsensual voyeur to m@m’s sexual life *many* times, by his own words-- if you want to go there. Also; y’all never acknowledge the fact that blitz stole that book from HIM in the first place and literally tied him up to the bed and was just going to leave him there like that for who knows what to find him. sexually and physically exposed. He took advantage of him that night on a whim, not out of a want. I swear it’s just the whole stolas is a prince thing that blind you guys to the things done wrong to him by somebody like blitz.

Hell has an ecosystem weirdly enough. Honestly in this series the Pride Ring is really more "Hell" in the traditional sense while the other rings are more a Gehenna or Makai (demon world), with people, places, plants, and animals all native there.

Lulu world and LooLoo Land (which has exorcist, sins, and sinner themes in the backgrounds as easter eggs), raise some questions. In Hazbin Hotel it seems we only see one city, Pentagram City and a red rocky wasteland around it. Lucifer's palace is not in the city (we see the map during a power outage), the Hotel is just outside the city. The theme park (Lulu world) is also not visible. The imps live in Imp city, this helps keep the two shows apart while both IMP and the hotel being in the pride ring. But it also means the pride ring is bigger than we think and the overlords are more like mob bosses fighting over territory in one city...and it sounds like at times that many of them and the sinners don't even know there are other locations outside the pentagram, but other sinners are in Imp city, just not as many.

There are a ton of theories to Lilith in heaven. Top 2 i like are that Lilith played Adam and is using being in heaven to sneak her own forces into Heaven like a secret invasion, the second is that, that is really Eve in Heaven and she looks just like Lilith and is pretending to be Lilith so Adam thinks she's is heaven while she is really somewhere else on a big scheme, this way if Adam noticed Lilith wasn't around in Hell he'd think he knew where she was. That said the question of why Charlie or Lucifer wouldn't know comes up, or if she qualifies as a Sinner (Sinners can't leave the Pride ring, but Lilith might be able to and go to the other rings or snuck to Earth as some demons can using Goetia magic or Asmodeus crystals). So something big could be in the works there.
@TheRhuen
@TheRhuen 6 дней назад
On the being harmed thing and all the videos and comments online about it, i wish they had said killed rather than harmed as that makes more sense. Sinners can be harmed but they always regenerate, except when angelic weapons are used (which side bar does Alastor have a stash of angelic weapons or at least a knife as the overlords he adbudcted are implied double dead and not just tied up in a basement somewhere), same with demon royals like the Goetia, angelic weapons are needed for permanent death. So maybe they meant angelic weapons were needed to kill an angel not just make them bleed or rip off their wings.

On the color scheme, its a classic as well for other studios and comics. Marvel once had a rule where villains were in colors such as green and purple if not grey. While heroes wore either bright colors like yellow or American flag colors (red, blue, white). Hulk was the one exception back in the day but it reflected their ambiguous alliance with good guys or being destructive.
@TheRhuen

I have the feeling Alastor thanks to soul dealings knows some things Charlie doesn't despite the age gap (Charlie is nearly twice as old as him) as Charlie was a sheltered princess. That Lucifer and Lilith and some other powers may be in Charlie's corner thst could veto a deal for her soul, or her soul would reject such a deal and reveal to her how out of the system the devil's daughter is. So Alastor played it safe but so vague, Charlie doing something for Alastor where no one gets hurt... that includes him, so the compulsion element likely in such deals will require her to save him or let him get away at some point after he betrays them or is about to be punished for his actions.

great video! I agree with what you said about how Stolas needs to develop more as an individual separate to the roles forced upon him/the ones he's taken on. Something else to factor in is that isolation was accompanied by abuse from Stella. From her claims about their sex life in the Circus, (which was bordering on SA..."i swear he just lays there and i have to do everything for him" - Stolas is clearly disassociating and she continues), and her surprise when she catches his backhand, (showing this to be the first time he's defended himself - although its unconfirmed). This definitely influenced the whole "my life is over i guess" feeling he got. Stolas himself is wildly depressed and a borderline alcoholic (not excuses for his behaviors just explanations). I only hope that Stolas gets to go on a trip or something just by himself, (or even with Via as a cute way for them to reconnect), after an apology to Blitz and the M&Ms and his fricken butler (looking at you Seeing Stars) for being pretty classist and disrespectful. If Blitz and Stolas do "get together" at the end of the season, I'd find it premature unless they execute his arc efficiently. Stolas needs time to develop platonic relationships or just opportunities to discover who he his; apology tour is a good step in the right direction - but he was again at the party because of blitz. Amazing analysis again! Would love to see one on blitz since people like to blame him for everything.

Could not agree with you more, stolas was isolated throughout his entire childhood. he doesn't know how to love, he doesn't understand what's wrong and what's right emotionally. Since his only sort of real "relationship" was with stella, there was no possible way for stolas to understand what it's really like to love someone. It's not like Blitz has a bunch of friends either. He's been more or less isolated since his childhood too (if you don't count Fizz until he was burnt). The bottom line is at least the owl had money. And his livelihood was not tethered to the book. If Blitz didn't have the book then, his business would be belly up because he couldn't complete his assassinations on Earth. Remember, that Stolas started this sex for services situation and he ended it on his own terms without Blitz's input.
@Birchlead
@Birchlead 4 дня назад
@@seeleunit2000 you are really blunting the story down and ignoring a hell of a lot of nuance in your statement. If you remember, watching it, Stolas did not exactly *start* the sexual relationship. He may have been flirting, but he clearly did not expect blitz to return the flirting because he immediately started backing off, and it was blitz who went on the aggressive side of flirting in order to literally steal the book. He literally bit the fuck out of his shoulder without even attempting to ask if that was something he remotely wanted to happen and was lucky that stolas is so inexperienced with sex that something like that level of nonconsent doesn’t even cross his mind. blitz literally ties him up with the intent of leaving him, vulnerable and sexually exposed to who know what in that party considering his wife was not opposed to slapping him through what we’ve seen in other episodes. He decided to stay because of a little bit of pity and his own sexual gratification, this is not that goddamn one-sided. And y’all bring up shit about this sexual deal, when blitz is the most sexually aggressive and abusive out of anybody in the show. He literally grabs Moxies genitals without consent and has watched him and his wife nonconsensually multiple times. I don’t understand why y’all constantly act like the book isn’t stolas’s. That it’s some detriment to potentially keep that book from him when it was never his in the first place. Which blitz could well try to legally gain entry to the living world, but he doesn’t. Stolas does that for him as well. I think a lot of blitz fans which I am as well, tend to write off a lot of the owls struggles because of something is stupid as money. I really don’t understand why that is so relevant to the internal conflicts here. Besides the fact that we are showing plenty of other relationships of high status, demons, and lower status demons in loving relationships that seem to be nigh affected. The queen of gluttony is dating a Hellhound to which blitz is a literal pretty much owner of though he does claim it to be adoption. It was literally a pound. He bought loona. But not one person comments on that relationship. I think the status thing is in, blitz his head more than anything else. considering the way, he thinks nobody could ever love him, contrasted with the crowd full of people he’s hurt. His self hatred overpowers any healthy relationship he has ever had.

I agree with everything you say. I'd go a step further and say there's three main Stolas's right now. the Father, the Romanticist and the Prince. The Prince is his role in the Ars Goetia, his social status, his education and all the stuff generally in that ballpark. That part of himself is why there' s certain things about himself he just cannot see, because they're just part of being The Prince. He doesn't expressly value being The Prince too highly, but it's solidly baked into him. He'd sorted out a workable balance between The Father and The Prince - which isn't too hard as The Prince includes fatherhood if not necessarily actual parenting. His life was entirely on rails, and staying on the rails might not be super comfortable, but it was fairly straightforward. And then Blitzo broke into the place and woke up The Romanticist. And that's where Stolas basically implodes, because he doesn't really know anything about The Romantacist, his wants and needs, or how to balance them with.... literally anything at all. Including itself. It also broke the existing balance between The Father and The Prince. Being two things was simple, being three things just shattered everything he knew about how to function as a person.
@kyratries
@kyratries 6 дней назад
I would not say that managing two selves is simple…but the idea of a Prince persona is interesting. I suppose I would most place the appearance of that persona at the end of The Circus while Stolas is disillusioned with romance but also rejects his life with Stella (and recognizes how trapped he is by his status all at once). There are many ways he could be broken down into pieces! Dad and When-With-Blitz stick out to me because of how very drastic the difference is when he is dealing with the two people in Hell he loves and are the ones most tied into the effects of childhood isolation.

The 2 different kinds of stolas theory is interesting. Because I have been struggling to understand how the pretty self absorbed Stolas we se in Murder Family and Loo Loo Land (where he basically ignores the social cues from both Octavia and Blitz) can be so diffrent from the one we see after Ozzie's, in his messages to Blitz and in Oops etc where he acts a lot more caring for others, even people pleasing at times. I like Stolas (just to make that clear). But, yeah. He has a lot of issues as well that he needs to work on.

Also. I think it could actually be more Stolases (?) then two. We have the caring dad stolas, the battered people pleasing husband stolas, and then we have the self-absorbed immature stolas who just found his sexuality. And possibly other stolases as well. Like the angry, deflecting Stolas who have a hard time being self-aware, that we see in AT.

My impression through out this series, and the same in Helluva Boss is that the hellborn demons don't really understand humans. Their only experience with then is sinners who are transformed into monsters and unlikely to care anymore about Earth norms. So they are guessing at what gets them into Hell and what the Sinners think is the opposite of their behaviors that maybe got them there. Charlie unlikely believes in waiting till marriage to have sex, but knows some Sinners have said this was a thing.

On the Stolas hiding behind the menu point, remember that was /right/ after Ozzy brought up his daughter, "My dark lord how the mighty do fall, You used to have a smoking wife, a kid, you had it all, I hope you didn't give it up so you and him could get it up" I think that his hiding was more out of shame of himself and how his actions affected Octavia, which the song called him out on in front of everyone. He didn't seem at all ashamed to be seen with Blitz in public before or after that. He shamelessly flirted with him at Loo Loo Land and the Harvest Moon Festival, and he told Asmodeus without hesitation that he has feelings for him.

Aw, I loved the bubblegum pop from the fight scene in the second Stryker episode. Just sucks there is no full version (there is actually one for Mustang Dong believe it or not) Nothing beats Two Minute Notice though, that one is so satisfying!

Another cool but heartbreaking detail is the thread snapping looks like two hands reaching for each other 🥲

I love when reactors are super analytical and pause to talk/ to take in the details ❤ definitely subscribed. Another blink and you'll miss it detail is that Blitz starts to tear up when talking to Stolas in the van at the end, but pauses to collect himself (when he says he's not in the mood)

If you want another funny facial expression, rewatch the House of Asmodeus song and when Verosika starts to sing and drapes herself across the table, look at Stolas' face lmao
