@@billythefxck lol I said the same thing in regards to Torres. He slid to second but the 2nd baseman had his knee on the bag, which prevented him from touching the bag. Torres was called out. And you're confusing this rule with something else. The defender was NOT preventing the runner from going to 2nd, merely preventing the runner from touching the bag.
I'm only halfway thru watching this but it's obvious he's a great fundamentally sound outfielder. Takes his time fielding the ball, which keeps his body balanced for a good strong accurate throw, never throws over the cut-off man, which keeps runners from taking extra bases on him, gives the infielder the ability to cut down advancing runners, and can redirect off target throws. He also is remarkably accurate, making it possible for a quick strong throw from the the cut-off man, and a quick easy tag for the catcher. And all these throws are on a line, strong arm. Of course, these are the best of the best throws, but still, very impressive.
Well of course he isn’t going to oook fast he’s 6’7 nobody that tall legs move like tyreek hills legs. They take bigger strides but it’s a lot easier for tall guys like to have a good arm with those long arms. Even though I’m 5’11 my wing span is 78” which is about 6’6 which allows me to throw 95-98mph for my height.
His mechanics are so good....keeping the ball on a line drive trajectory no matter the bounces at the end will arrive before the runner all day long. He hits the cut with exact same throw! Easy to teach but not too many guns like that, period. Well maybe mine back in the day, lol!
His throws are incredibly accurate. You gotta love his demeanor, Jeter reincarnated. Busts chops with the boys behind the scenes, but plays it straight with the media. Has that natural leadership and respect from teammates like jeter. 10yr deal and next captain is my prediction.
@@huh8896 "Jeter demeanor" silly person. Jeter had the best possible demeanor for an athlete. Natural leader and in a long season, his qualities are actually more important than whatever "metrics" you think matter more than anything bc that's all your simple mind can process. Human beings need strong and capable leaders to succeed at anything, especially team sports. Get a clue.
1:25 play is so undervalued. He spun to his glove side and threw a laser beam off balanced. 🤯 at this point give that man the whole damn check book and MVP
He plays the wall perfectly. Like a pool shooter banking their shot. He knows how the ball is gonna come off the bank, positions himself when he receives the ball and just releases. I mean its awesome
Mans got an absolute cannon. Those long arms act as huge leverage multiplier. Judge's defensive plays and base running I find much more interesting than home runs tbh.
Can't help but notice how alot of these throws are at yankee stadium, which we all know has a none existent right field. While it's impressive that he almost always seems to be accurate and keeping the ball on a low trajectory, most of these throws are coming from a shifted deep second base or the corner, where he's throwing from 50-75 feet shorter than most right fielders.
if you're learning the game of baseball, and in particular any outfield position watch from 2:32 on over and over and if you ever think working on footwork is not important - watch it again.
Arm strength is one thing.. but the accuracy of every one of Judge's throw is the truly impressive part of these clips. Every single one of them is a strike.
I haven’t seen a RF’r with such a strong and accurate arm that can pile up assists like this since Larry Walker in the mid-late 90’s. He’s a hall of famer now so he’s in good company!
Roberto Clemente of the Pirates used to have fungo's hit in warmup to him on the warning track and he'd then throw one to the plate on a rope. Right field at old Forbes Field actually had a dogleg and in the corner to get to home plate the throw had to go over the first few rows of the stands. I was a little kid and saw this in person...very impressive as the throw never got more than about 15 feet off the ground. He put so much backspin on it the ball just wouldn't drop (like airsoft hop-up) and it made a sizzling sound as it went by in front of me. Very few people tried to run on Clemente....for good reason.
As much attention as he receives, I believe he is the most underrated player in sports. Does not receive enough credit for how great he is. A once in a lifetime Willie Mays caliber player (in my opinion). People have allowed a seed to be grown in their minds that he is injury-prone. I am not sure. What do I know is when playing and healthy, he is incredibly good at both ends. He is also clutch in post season. Very fun to watch. Everybody likes him. Complete package for an all-time great. He can be the modern Mickey Mantle
He doesn't have an arm that's up there with the best-ever RFs, but his fundies are just about perfect night in, night out - always takes great routes, always makes the right decision, hits the cutoff man, plays caroms and ballpark quirks well, etc. And his throws are always dead-on accurate...
go Dogs baby. one of the most elite players to ever come through Fresno State. proud to say I've met him and as you can expect, couldn't be nicer. Judge fan for life
@@60ft6inProductions after hearing about advanced stats, I believe so. If the Yankees beat the Astros and went to the world series, I think it would have been a lock for him
I watched half of this video & 3 plays were bad calls. In other words, the runner was arguably safe, 2 xs clearly safe. And a couple of plays were not outfield assists ! Judge threw to the cut off man then the seco.d throw was the deciding throw. I'm not saying that he is a slouch, he has a good arm but he is no Ichiro or Jeremy Bernitz or Vlad Guerrero or Raul Mondesi or Larry Walker, he is similar to Dave Winfield in my opinion & that's saying alot. He has had a good start to his career & I wish him the best. I remember the game being played with appreciation for the little things. Stealing bases, bunting, how about this : running hard out of the batters box ! Anyone remember those days ? ! ? Anyone who wants to see true skill at the right field position or throwing runners out from the outfield in general, check out some of the names above. I know I didn't mention that any but there were never that many who did this well, consistently
did he just recently get one st home when he had 60 or even the night he hit the 61st? dude is a class act and maybe the best player in the sport of baseball worldwide
Also, when the plays are made in Yankee stadium, it must be remembered that the right field area in the Bronx is very much smaller than almost every other field in baseball ! Yankee stadium & San Francisco giants stadium have smaller amounts of field & so the advantage goes to the fielder in situations where the ball stays in play & is in play in right field. Again, I'm not saying that he is not a good player. But, as Winfield for example was given credit for his great bat, he was known as a decent thrower, not a great one, when it was taken into consideration that he played at Yankee stadium ! Judge seems to have a strong arm but more likely than anything else, he seems to have a average or slightly above average arm with above average accuracy which in the stadium that has that short porch, is very helpful & can be deceiving to people who are ignorant to the vast diversity of the wonderful game that is baseball. And yes I'm not a Yankee fan
When you look at him it looks like he is not throwing that hard so it messes with people. They seem to forget the dude is a giant and still has a cannon.
Man makes it look soooo easy to fry them out! However, Ichiro had a better arm and runners DID NOT venture far with him, he (Ichiro) still didn't make it look this easy.
Judge is a complete player. He hits, he fields, he runs, he throws, and he's smart. What more could you want? Most guys his size get stuck at first base whether they can play it well or not, or they become a career DH..
