Looking at the lyrics, I think this is one of Jeff’s best works. Usually people complain that his lyrics are bad, but the double meanings in this song are incredible.
as a sondheim junkie i love seeing motifs in musicals, especially when they sound as amazing as this-- this entire musical is basically just motifs sewn together to make new songs and i am NOT complaining lol
one of jeffs most complex songs very falsetto but to character act and sing this flawlessly is a goregous work he really pushed himself in a way i havent heard from him probably ever
