I dont know about an automotive radiator but i know there are some people that have set up a cooling fan of some sort for them. I havent personally had any overheating issues with mine.
Andrew Camarata just posted a video in which he tests out a very similar micro excavator. He really puts it to the test in typical Camarata style and it performed surprisingly well.
hes at least honest enough to show its shortcomings and to reveal the real price for these machines. they run about 4k not 8k, they cant lift a load high enough to be of any real use.
@DieselRamcharger ?? the auction machines are 4k. They also dont have a warranty and may not even start. The Kymrons and groundhogs come with a warranty and parts availability. And they are $8500. Not hiding anything here.
I have a groundhog kh14G, essentially the same machine. I added blower fans to the side vents to draw air in and keep the pump and engine cooler. It gets "burn your skin" hot in the summer sun and that helps a ton. If you're digging stumps, i like the pick, tooth, attachment. I can rip a bush out in about 3 to 4 minutes with it and it leaves a much smaller hole when you're done. Lots of bolts will probably loosen up on you. Get some blue locktite and apply liberally. Also, dont skip that break in oil change. Its essentially.
@SpicerDesignsLLC I can't remember exactly, but I know a company broke off from Groundhog. I thought it was Kymron, but I may be remembering it wrong. I think they both originally ordered from Hightop machines in China. I know Nick from Groundhog, a long time operator and equipment guy, worked one on one with the manufacturer to have certain areas reinforced and upgraded, so he would have a superior product to the normal imported machine. From what I've seen, Kymron has done very similar upgrades. So I don't believe Kymron is at all an inferior machine. I've only worked with Nick when I bought my machine, but he was a true blue collar, honest, shake your hand and stand by his product type of guy....so I'm partial to Groundhog. But I'll admit I'm biased based on my experience. 😁
@@JamesThomas-dn6hz ive heard good things about Groundhog. I did consider them but i got a better feeling from Kymron. And yes kymron is the one your thinking of as far as your first point.
That was a good display of the machines capabilities. It takes time but as I always say, it's better and faster than a shovel! Usually less blisters involved with that also.
Powerful little guy. I think that extending the blade out some would help stability. Also, I think a rear suitcase weight bracket would help. Weights would be removable for service or when tail swing is a concern. I'm trying to decide on buying a similar excavator or a 1025r2025r TLB.
When you ger 62 years old, if your lucky enough to make it that far, all that jumping around stops .Flush type fittings are used in aircraft . They will not get sheared off upon impact. You are working in mud, You put bigger equipment in there it might get stuck. A real disadvantage for any equipment. Thank you for the video I 'm interested in buying one of these. I am very impressed with your video.
I rented a wacker Nelson about that size to put a drain around my daughter's house. I was trying to clean out a small section and the bank caved off and dropped one track in the ditch. No big deal. I swung the bucket around to lift the track out and it didn't have power enough to lift the track out of the ditch! I think I will buy one like yours for the next time!
Like the uses of the kymron ! I am just like you constantly woking on projects on the property and like the content that you put out. I have a langmuir XR table as well and enjoy working metal projects. Keep up the good videos!
As a former owner of a Kubota U-25 mini X (that I sold, as I thought I was thru with projects, then I bought another 30 acres...) one of these would be a step down, BUT, for the price, I am getting very interested, as I really miss the U-25. I operate a 30 ton boom truck for a living, and when I found a 1400 pound counterweight was a factory certified (important, gotta keep it legal) option, I bought one, and it makes all the difference in what I can safely do with it, stability wise. It would be very simple to install more counterweight on one of these, carefully and with testing. Too much counterweight could be bad. I've got bids out for shipping one to Idaho, but I could also drive there and carry it in my 1 ton flatbed, no trailer, small as it is.
Great video, sometimes I'll cut the trees down below the ground, leaving the stump and roots keeps the ground more stable especially on a hill. Also steel tracks would give it more weight 🤷
I would like to see a comparison doing the same work with your bigger mini ex. If you could do the same size area and digging the same size stump just to compare the time difference between the two.
Awesome little machine. Was really considering a Struck magnatrack. But, for the money this may be a better and certainly cheaper way to go. Looking forward to seeing it put to some more work. Cool!
@chestypuller4591 this is better than a magnatrack in my opinion. The other thing is the attachment options like concrete breaker, auger, and a few other things
Great demonstration. I’ve been considering one of those but my only hesitation is digging in the hard Texas clay. Since Abilene doesn’t get a lot of rain the clay dries out and is almost like digging in rock. I’ve rented the small Bobcat E20 excavators to dig 40+ mesquite tree stumps out and dig trenches for water lines; but that machine seems to be a lot smaller and a whole lot lighter. I can’t wait to see you dig a big deep hole with it; that’ll will give me a good idea which one I should consider.
I was going to dig a hole in the video too but it was so soft i thought it really wouldnt be a good judgment of its capabilities . I have some hard clay i can dig in when it drys out.
Awesome video really testing out its capabilities. I’m sold I’d love to have for my fire wood business bucking up logs as well as just odds and end jobs u could get into with it is endless
I wish manufacturers would have a telescopic counterweight. Think of a man lift that telescopes out. This would give maneuverability of a zero swing with the counter weight of a tail swing.
I like the 14 but it just doesn’t have enough ass. The 42 is still my choice for an investment machine. Thank you for the video, good stuff, and I like that there’s no bullshit editing out equipment quirks. It is what it is! I’ll be back.
I had one of the Chinezium units for about 6 months. I thought that adding weight to the base and maybe extending the front blade out 6 inches would have made it ride and perform a little better. Great video today.
It’s crazy what you did with that “machine”. I thought I was shopping for a 5-6 ton “machine”, but seeing what you’ve done, I’m really wondering if I should go this direction instead!! Awesome video Kyle! - - J.Andre. / Old Iron Acres
I have the RH14-3 made a set of clamp on forks for the blade. They are about 30 in long. Inabilities me to dig out stumps , rocks . Etc. With out lifting the backend up at all.
When you were working the "machine", were the tracks in the extended position? Also, Andrew Camarata released a video this week on the super cheap mini-X and he was working the snot out of it. Check it out. These little guys can absolutely do a lot of work for the money. Randy
I have an 2023 AGT Q12 (bought for 4,200.00) same thing Andrew Camerata got and i have been to the KYMRON facility in Muskogee Oklahoma. I pulled in their with my trailer and AGT on the trailer and compared the Exact model in this video because i thought the same thing. Austin at K&R let me unload my machine and do a side by side comparison to 2 of their 14 series machines. Both of them were way smoother than the AGT! The KYMRON also seemed to have more weight without a doubt. My AGT did not even have a counter weight was first thing i noticed. I also measured the pump on the AGT and KYMRON. The KYMRON pump was over 1/2" longer. Ultimately I sold the AGT last month and just bought the KYMRON XH20D and have been more than impressed and will have update videos soon.
I have been enjoying your Excavators series of videos. The 14 G seems to be an impressive little machine. (Machine😂). Curious to see how the renting thing works out for you. I considered this as well but with having owned Chinese stuff before I was wondering if the machine would pay for itself before breakage. Good thing is seems easy enough to repair especially with your metal working skills. Either way good luck and keep them coming. I enjoy seeing the two different size machines work to their capacity. Also have enjoyed watching people compare them to namebrand machines of similar size.
As far as ethanol free, absolutely worth it for all small engines! Especially ones where the fuel will suit for awhile. Ethanol in lament terms attracts water out of the air which then mixed with the fuel and water is heavier so it sits down at the bottom of the tank where the fuel is drawn from! Another tip, go get some StarTron from napa or wherever you can find it there. Mix that with the fuel, don't use Stabil that crystallizes. The Startron will help any water that does get in there burn off. When you buy ethanol free at the pump if it's a shared pump there's a good chance you'll get ethanol from the hose. I buy VP brand pre canned 5 gal is best value but still expensive $80.-100. A can.
Great video with the new "MACHINE"! -on average how long do you spend editing your content- just curious, your videos are always top notch! -what the heck is a wood yard? Lol firewood or an area to dry out wood slabs?! Cheers for Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks Chad! It takes about 12-14 hrs to edit a video. Sometimes longer. Thabks for the compliment on the editing. Woodyard could be both. Anything wood related for the most part. Thats where i will split wood and store it for heating our home
That little thing definitely has more power then weight. If it were my machine I'd probably try to figure out how I can add more weight to the back to help it from tipping over with a heavy load. Maybe something simple like a weight rack to hold tractor style suitcase weights, that can be removed very easily if I need be. Also I'd be looking into installing a axillary 12v electric fan to help pull the heat out of the engine bay.
Looks like the little Kymron could use a larger counterbalance. Might be a fun project to build a steel-framed counterbalance using the Langmuir. How big of a market is there for rentals like this? Did you have to get special insurance or are you offering supplemental insurance for folks who buy and break it?
Ya bigger counterweight would help. I havent got everything set up with the renter agreement and insurance yet. Ill have updates on the channel as i go through that process
I've never run an excavator, so please disregard my comment if it's stupid. I've watched many videos on these. The first tree you were digging out and the machine was bucking made me think. Im pretty sure i saw someone say on another video that if you turn the tracks around so the blade is behind you and put it down, it may not buck as bad
It does have a pretty decent counterweight. Im guessing is a couple hundred pounds. Not many of the 1 ton units have them but Kymron adds them to theirs.
The Kymrons come standard with the hydraulic thumb. I actually just posted a video going over the whole machine and Kymron. Good info if your in the market.
That's a handy little compact. Some of those tree stumps were calling for some tannerite though. 💣 BTW - Do you have a new swale work you need to do on the property? If so, would like to see what 'machine' you'd use. 🍻
Pro tip - no need to use ethanol free gasoline. Use regular gas and add Marine Stabil and Marvel Mystery Oil to it manufacturer’s recommendations. You’ll never have fuel problems if you do. I run small outboard motors that are prone to fuel issues. Using regular gas treated as directed will rarely cause fuel related problems.
I would pay the rental fee, Just to get to know that beast and also do your yard work. Seriously I would set up ten and rent for a few days you film and be the fore man.
I know zero turn is always a selling point, but I think those mini mini excavators desperately need a healthy counter weight. The sacrificed turning radius would make the machine so much more capable.
As one who worked with a corporate company in heavy equipment, the needle zirc fittings serve their applications but that machine would be great with a 500-800lb counterweight on the rear to offset the fulcrum and provide better safety to the operator. As your video shows, maybe something you would like to mention to kymron. 🤙
Hey Kyle another great video! How much does that Kymron weigh and what is the actual horsepower? Oh yeah…for the dismounts on & off the machine…I give you a 9.6 Haha!
That "MACHINE" is a little power house! Wow, the Kioti got mentioned 👏 😂 Any deer on your property? Great video kyle just needs beer and boobs to push it over the top haha.
Ya it really is. No beer this month and the boobs were busy running around with the girls. Shell be back soon. We do have a lot of deer. Havent seen any big bucks though.
@SpicerDesignsLLC ya after seeing your wooded area seems like a good area for deer. Dry January ouch. Well instead of doing a cheers ill give you a fist 👊 pump.
The teeth are bolt on so you could just remove them to get a smooth edge. I talk about that in the next video too. And the hydraulic thumb is standard on the Kymrons
Here is what i was told. The bigger the machine the faster you can get done. But the machine cost more. The smaller the machine. Will take longer to do a job. But the machine does cost less. I used a ht10b for almost 2 years.
@@edregister4530 ive since decided bot to rent it due to liability concerns. I actually sold both of my chinese machines and bought a larger bobcat. They are very capable though.
This model is optional with extendable tracks. I didnt get them. Just have to know the capabilities of the machine. Longer blade means less reach. They do have larger models too that offer more stability.
Hey Kyle! Few things.. Your going to kill yourself in that thing bwhahah. Better have a 40 hour safety course if you are going to rent it out 🤪😜. BTW I got the Hat!! Thanks. But noticed a few irregularities. First went down to the drive way to get it, then came up stairs, open the box, put it on and fell down the F*&k^ing stairs. I was so Pi$$ed off that I went to the machine, no i mean the machine, Machine... REFRIDGERATOR dammit! and got a Keystone light. That's all for now... got to take my new MiG welder that i bought for some dam reason and repair the effen branch that fell off the dam tree in the wind last night! Why am I cursing?
You'd be better off with a stumper attachment rather than the bucket for cutting roots. There's a lot more power in the slender blades of the stumper than the bucket in such work. Hopefully, Kymmar makes the stumper too. Otherwise I'd never recommend this little unit for stump removal as it would be dangerous for the average Joe. For ditching and pickup using the thumb it looks impressive though.
Interesting. Looks like a toy, acts like a toy. So tiny. Seems like it need some additional weight. I’m a firm believer in buying bigger than I think I need. I’ve never regretted that. Good review though. Thanks.
Thats specifically a motocross gas can from when i used to race. My bike didn’t run off diesel. If it were any other style fuel can i would completely agree with you. Glad thats what you got out of this video though.
Why do you think ethanol burns hotter? It doesn't. Don't get me wrong it's way better to run ethanol free fuel. Ethanol it terrible for engines and efficiency.
