Last week we saw the British Olympic team selected at the 2024 Aquatics GB Swimming Championships and while there were many fast swims all around one race in particular stood out among the rest…the men’s 200 freestyle.
I can’t see GBR losing. They will use Bird and MacMillan (maybe even Joe Litchfield) to rest Scott and Richards in the heats, assuming all4 arrive in shape the WR is surely going to go.
Thanks I appreciate it! I pull from a few sources for different stats. I use SwimCloud a LOT because it has a lot of different meet results in one place so I don’t need to hop between several different sites. If I ever can’t find a result in there (normally because it’s too old) I’ll look for the results in SwimSwams result library. I also use Speedo’s event rankings for the top times in the world this year because they update pretty quickly. USA Swimming’s database is also really useful for finding the top performers/performances of all time in certain events so I use that quite a bit too.
Only team who I think has a legitimate shot at challenging GBR is the US but it’s really a similar situation here as in GBR minus those who will be on the relay
McMillan/Bird/Guy/Dean in prelims to make sure they get a centre lane. Richards/Scott/Guy/Dean in the final, if they all swim well WR and gold no matter what. If mistakes are made they could easily see themselves losing to Korea, Aus and/or the USA, these countries can all swim in the 6:59 low region.
