Great. You'll find they ride well and are real easy to work on.

Some important background information on these incredible bikes. From the ground up, these bikes were a brand new design. These are NOT clone bikes in anyway. For the most part they were well made and well designed bikes. As Dave mentioned the biggest issue (that quickly got solved) had to do with excessive clearance on the transmission bearings (bushings) inside a number of the gears. The transmission manufacturer installed the wrong size bushings and delivered some transmission cassettes with the gears that ever so slightly wobbled and caused the circlips to fail. This allowed the gears to move around on the shaft and potentially lock the rear wheel. This was quickly diagnosed and remedied. This occurred on a number of bikes that got out the door. Not all but enough to warrant having the tranny checked out by someone familiar with the fix (like Atlantic EH LLC over in Elkton Va.). The vast majority of bikes that you see on the road have likely had this fix especially if they have more than a few thousand miles. The bikes you need to be aware of are the brand new bikes that were never sold. They will need the transmission bushings checked and if necessary, replaced. Not a terribly expensive fix on these bikes as it simply requires removing the primary cover to get get access (no need to split the case). I would not be afraid to buy one of these if you can get it under $10k. These bikes (once properly prepped and with the tranny fix), are impressive bikes that are reliable and will run strong for many years. They're essentially metric cruisers and have many parts that will swap with well known metric cruisers. The entire fuel injection system, to include the Sagem computer, is period Triumph and everything is still available. The same goes for the entire ignition system as well. Everything's still available but you'll need cross referenced part numbers to other manufacturers (this is available for most of the high wear items and other consumables). Because of the Hanlons and the tireless efforts of the initial owners of these bikes (originally a tight knit community of mostly old world Harley guys), back in the early 2000's, ALL of the issues have been solved, including alternate cross manufacturer part numbers. So it should be possible to keep these bikes running well for many years. To get ALL of the information you need to know about these bikes you must check out the Excelsior Henderson Riders website h-t-t-p-s-:-/-/-w-w-w-xhmotorcycles-com (remove the hyphens), and or call Atlantic EH over in Elkton, Va. (h-t-t-p-s-:-/-/-stores-superxparts-com ) Jamie over at Atlantic has been involved with rebuilding and servicing these bikes since the first ones rolled off the assembly line in 1999. Once you buy one and make these contacts you're going to meet several hundred serious motorcycle people who are some of the most helpful people you've ever met. They love to ride and keep the these bikes running and will make sure you have the info to keep you riding as well. You will be welcomed into one of the more exclusive motorcycle clubs (several gatherings of owners occur in various states every year and until recently a few hundred owners would get together every year for Rolling Thunder and ride into D.C. as a group). - BlueMax1910

You are absolutely correct. And probably said much more than I could do in a 15 minute video. I've been to Atlantic EH several times. Jamie fixed my fuel pump. And I've met DH as well. I purchased one of the prototypes from him. That's in the shop someday for another video

DONT WARM IT UP ON THE KICK STAND IF THIS IS BONE STOCK. OIL PUMPS WILL SUCK AIR. only warm up upright f you do not have pickup tube update. These are not metric bikes. Nothing metric on them. #525, was 310th off the line, now has 50000 miles. I do all my own work. You are a good ambassador for the brand and I thank you

You may want to pull mufflers on this one. Top muffler is wobbling. Muffler brackets will tear or loose weld.. typical for our Xs

Thank you. I did not know about that one. Can't say I do that much except to film that it runs in this video. I'll check with Jamie on my other EH.

Jamie Jones is good stuff. Another vendor in Minnesota is Duane Judge, also very good. I get cornered, they are my go to... Always willing to help

Cool Retro Design... Too bad that the new manufacturer couldn't continue building these bikes. It takes a while to work out all the kinks, and they could have possibly been producing some great bike's by now. I love the looks and style of the Henderson. Thanks for sharing ✌️ 😎 🪶

I read that the guy's partner embezzled all the money, forcing the company to go under.

Boy, that's near the end of the run. You'll be happy to know the fuel system is actually very easy to work on
@Tron-Jockey

If you drained the gas tank in 2010 then you'll likely need a fuel pump. Don't panic, the alternate P/N (AC Delco EP274) is I believe the same as for a '90's Ford Escort. I've always kept my Super-X with a full tank of gas even during the winter and started it at least once every two weeks or so to let it idle until warmed. Except for a crank angle sensor and a rear cylinder coil pack replaced last year it's been running fine since I bought it 22 years ago.

When properly updated, they are perfectly fine. There's a small but very supportive owner's group on Facebook for them too!

Was that think as clackety as it sounded on the video? Sounded like a tin can with a bunch of nuts and bolts rattling around in it. I bought $1000 worth of EH stock, back in the day...hoping this would take off. Bummer that it didn't. Drove by the old factory a few months back. So sad to see the Hanlon's run the company into the ground.

I don't think so. Sounds pretty much the same as I remember, but I'll dust off my other one for a second video and we can compare. Stay tuned and thanks for the input!
