A federal pension only kicks in if they spend 5+ years with in the federal government. I.e. President Carter isn’t pulling a government pension, only serving 4 years in office.

I lived in Michigan my whole life. She was a pretty decent Governor. John Engler was a nightmare. Did the entire state in by slashing taxes on anyone with money and spent like a drunk sailor. He amassed enormous debt knowing it would be some Democrat Governors problem and his party could use it to blame that person during subsequent elections. Which is exactly what DeVos tried to do when he ran against Granholm.
