Manchin gave literally no substance in this press conference - he has refused to give specifics on the particular items of the bill he takes issue with or his proposed solutions publicly and this press conference was no different.The reason Manchin and Sinema both refuse to make their stances on specific items in the bill public is because they don't want to be crucified by their more progressive supporters. This may work for Manchin in West Virginia but it likely wont work for Sinema and she's going to have to get her progressive base back on board or she will likely be primaried. This press release is nothing more than buzzwords with no substance.

Part of the whole purpose behind the bill he is opposing is to reserve additional funding for Medicare (as well as other programs) which would aid in preventing their insolvency - *that's what a spending bill is* . Are YOU dense? In any case it doesn't matter. Manchin is going to do his little dance to secure his lobbyists' interests and then back the bill just like Sinema has already done and just like they've both done in the past. The only question is whether progressives will accept the compromise.
