When the dollar is dumped, our central bank (I believe) can just destroy the excess currency, so it's not a question of too much money in the M2 supply, rather the dumping itself will cause the dollar to lose a ton of value on the Forex and that will cause it to depreciate. Then, once the dollar is weak, it'll be really expensive to import all the goods that makes our economy run, and that will cause huge inflation, not too much money supply

@trevorwells8407 I am 77, and I used to hear that money that was classified as overprinted could be burnt. Then someone told me that they don't do this anymore. Our money system is so worthless, I just don't know. The 1950's were the best years for me, and the 1960's were not as good. Now our money buying value, I believe, is around negative 40%.

@@johnbethea4505 it's a bit ambiguous, but at the very least, the central bank isn't obligated to distribute that influx of dollars to the partner banks, where the M2 is counted. So even if it's not 'destroyed', it doesn't have to be in circulation either, so I think the only real danger is the 'dumping' itself and what happens to its value on the Forex. Obviously there will be other subsequent issues down the road, like our nation's credit rating, etc., but for the near term, I believe this is the extent of the damage.

I’ve been monitoring this as an (laid off) Oil/Gas consultant. Very few folks realize that this will affect USD values throughout the world. Chairmen Powell stated a few yrs ago that there was room for 2 Reserve currencies… this will decimate the USD in 10 yrs or less. Why would S.A. go against USD? 1. Sanctions 2. USA proclaiming that we are going “green” 3. Still involving USA in conflicts it has no reason to actually be involved in (Ukraine)

Part of the pact that Saudi Arabia signed up for a 1974 was to ensure the US would defend SA against any of the regional problems without an agreement then I don’t see the US defending Saudi Arabia and it makes sense that we would need to tap The keystone pipeline so we’re gonna need a president that supports the keystone pipeline

10 years is way too optimistic. Oil has been naked shorted in western markets since the war started, putting pressure on both domestic and foreign producers. That's why OPEC+ is all going to BRICS, and western oil companies are going broke. Once the dam on that breaks it's GG, and I don't see it holding for more than a year at most.

It's not necessarily the U.S. specifically, though they are intertwined. What it is, is the established global monetary system. It's been heavily based upon the U.S. Dollar for the last ~60 years as globalization took hold of the World. But nothing lasts forever and because the World has never been in this situation before, we lost our grip on it and it essentially bloated out of control. Now, the World is looking to find stability before they are dragged down into the abyss by the massive whale that is the U.S. Petro Dollar. But fast forward 60 years and whatever is coming next will find itself in a much similar situation. I can almost guarantee it.

Saudi Arabia, for the past year, has been selling their oil in the buyer's choice of currency. As countries dispose of their dollars, which is what is happening now, things will just go downhill for the US. The petrodollar is dead because all crude oil sales had to be conducted using dollars per the petrodollar agreement and that is no longer the case.

History tells us that any changing hands or replacement of global reserve currency is always happening slowly, firmly and yet suddenly in the end, whilst the tipping point has always been the beginning of overextended monetary policy which in the case of USD started after government bailout of Wall street banks initiated by Lehman brothers bankruptcy and exacerbated further to lead into FY2008 financial crisis.

Think. Two things. The international money trading system was based onthe management of private banks and the fees were huge. Gold or oil backing was irrelevant. The new Digital system will be based on Trust at the top levels and smaller countries will be able to use tokenized metals or commodities to create the same trust in their small currencies. One day reasonably soon the World bank will create a tradeable currency and many countries will sign on.

Is the mighty powerful USD currency a concern when Saudi Arabia decides not to renew the PetroDollar agreement? Can US still print money as usual from their 50-years of printing money? Thank you.

Well, the contract between the USA and Soudi Arabia end a day or two ago. We're very exceptional and we will be experiencing that very near future. Right now prices are up; however, I am taking sky-ricketing prices coming in the next few months.

So restricting Russia and Iran to a minor contribution to Oil Production is what "Minimal" mears? With Saudis added into the production of Russia and China it is magically a major irritation? Oil markets did seem to react to Putin and OPEC announcing a production cut. As the transfer of payments takes place, the benefits to those Consumers as well as those Producers, appear to look much better than simply delivering Oil to the Empire as a Tribute Payment? Does this Mean Putin is doing what Blinken claimed He would do? I mean before Blinken Weaponized LNG......

Such a move will not happen overnight. It will happen gradually though, like 1% per year. It will be interesting to see if whoever wins the US presidency will have to finally start dealing with the deficit, or if the can can still be kicked down the road.

Because oil is traded in USD, all other commodities and financial dealings are done in USD. USD based trade is way bigger than just the 2.5 trillion oil market.

Dollar milkshake theory says there is a bigger force than the petrodollar, that is the global debt market which is also denominated in dollars. So in the event of a liquidity crunch, the dollar will move higher and crush the other, weaker fiat currencies as everyone will be scrambling for dollars. That is why the dollar will only strengthen, at least midterm which doesn't mean it won't weaken against hard assets like gold, but it also doesn't mean gold won't crash temporarily when the liquidity crunch event comes.
