Yup, it is so easy to internet shop, but if all the small businesses close, that internet shop will bump up it's prices, and reduce the customer experience.
@@CalmBiker that is a good way of doing it, is why I have often waited until going to Motorcycle Live up at the NEC to buy gloves as you can try loads on and also check reviews etc on your phone before committing to buying from the ones that fit and are comfy. Buying blind off the internet with kit can be a PITA as sizing between brands is so often very different, same with helmets.
i had a chance to do a two hours in pouring rain with them.. for the price i expected for more i guess they really soak the water in them so it took a day just for them to fully dry. the heating is not bad but my thumbs were freezing even with heated grips. probably not for weather below 10c
Ahh that is interesting, I rode in torrential rain for around 7hrs and the only part of me dry was my hands. Out of interest, do you wear them over the top of your jacket sleeves or under? I wear them under my textiles, which stops the rain running down my arms into the glove!
Well we don’t really get a lot of that “winter” around here so my cold weather gloves are somewhat cheap because they will only get used for the morning of a cold ride then promptly changed around noon. On the other hand, I will wear a liner in my Alpine Stars SP-8 gloves and that seems to do the trick, again till noon when i will remove the liner. I do agree with supporting local stores, sure you may pay a little more, but it’s worth it to keep the $$ in the local community if possible.
Depending on how organised I get today, I might fit them to the bike. I don't get a lot of vibes off it, but enough to make the tips of my fingers tingle after an hour in the saddle.
Watched this a few days back and forgot to like and comment! Nice looking gloves, I wish we had a local shop that sold gear. Some of the dealers do, but the selection is not good.
Ahh thanks for popping back to do so... it is very much appreciated by me and RU-vid likes the interaction too, so helps my channel stay in their good books too as a bonus 🙂 I have a motorcycle dealership in my town, and they do have quite a lot of kit, but it all seems to only fit skinny people when it comes to clothing, and people with really long fingers wrt gloves lol... my mates shop is around 1hr30min for me to get to, but they have some great stock, and in sizes that fit me! 🙂 I've found bike shows can be great places to try kit on, and often you can get a discount too... but you have to be careful to only go for well known brands, as a lot can be nasty cheap stuff that may fall apart in an off.
Nothing beats being able to ride to pick stuff up for your bike rather than ordering online. They actually look fairly decent - there any mobility issues with those gloves?
It certainly makes getting the right size easier, which can be a pain with gloves. I'm mega impressed with how waterproof they are so far... rode a 260 mile trip back home from Cornwall last weekend in them in absobloominlutely horrendous torrential rain where even my Rukka couldn't keep me dry... but my hands stayed bone dry the whole ride. The only thing I've noticed with these regarding mobility, is the little finger on the left glove is a bit stiff
@@HippoDrones yeah feel your pain I got stuck coming back from North Devon to Exeter and was wearing full waterproofs (apart from gloves which I'm now exploring).
Haha... I think it was a few years of winter salt and road grime that broke down the leather... but it doesn't bode well for how they would stand up in an off!
@@HippoDrones Yeah, imagine you are riding in winter mess and BAM! a snowman jumps out in front of your bike. You go into a slide only to end up wearing swiss cheese looking gear and you fingers get cold.🥶
It is puzzling... although, the finger that got worn out is the one I use to clear my visor and camera lens in rain.salty wintery roads... so possibly the road grime wears them down more, I'd hope that a glove would stay together at least until after an off... which is one of the reasons I didn't go for the same brand as I had prior, am hoping that the Five gloves are a bit tougher!
Soggy crotch, been there many times 😂 I've never bought gloves that cost over 50 quid but I have some Halversons gloves and write what a difference when you chuck a bit more money at something. All that rain reminded me of what's coming over the next couple of months ☔
