I think a la Fischer there's more merit in experimenting off the beaten path than memorising lines (which is stupid and anti-spirit of hcess). I would love to see a classic time format Fischer Random tournament but for political reasons we are deprived.

Pragg just laid Anish across his skinny knees and spanked him as though Giri was a club level patzer! Holy shite, what an attack! Beautiful, completely insane, but the combinations and bishop forks are so elegant! Phantastic game and analysis. This really shows the great abilities of these top players when they stay away from the Blitz type games. It also demonstrates the supermodern approach to chess. As said in the video, it looked like a Morphy massacre would happen to White but instead, Black was outplayed in very sophisticated fashion. One can only wonder, would that have happened to the incomparable Morphy himself or would he have found something extra special?

The Be3 line looked far trickier if Black plays Bxe3 instead of exf3. Likewise, both b+k vs. 2r endgames didn't look "crushing" for White. It's harder to coordinate two minor pieces and White's pawns are all over the place, so not exactly a done deal.

@TheQrstOne
@TheQrstOne Месяц назад
Amateur here, but as white i wouldn't capture with Rxg1, as the only other piece that bishop threatens is the pawn on h2, which is defended by the rook on h1. Granted, that's giving away a free piece.
@TheQrstOne
@TheQrstOne Месяц назад
I do think g6 would work after Ke2 instead of e5, preventing the aggressive capture, but rapid games tend to force errors as there's an added time crunch.
@honestcommenter8424

@@honestcommenter8424, again, I'm an amateur, but you see that the pawn on h2 is the only other thing that bishop threatens, right? I'm assuming Stockfish captures with the rook to not give away a piece, but there's nothing preventing, as you stated, the Queen taking that rook.
