I feel like people hate monika just because she killed everyone, but that's not just monika's whole character, she did that because she wanted you to love her, even if it was just a bit of love you gave her. She was lonely on her world, since she was the only real person on there, she didn't know how much it hurt you to kill everyone, for her it's just deleting, she wanted to get out of there, she regrets everything she did and that's why she gave everyone another life. Actually, she didn't delete them, they were on another folder by what I remember. On the doki doki menu, she has her arms open to you, not saying welcome, but trying to get you to take her out of the literature club, when you delete Monika, she realizes the damage she did to you, and feels bad, regrets everything and apologizes, you break her heart, you make her sad. So basically, the only villian of the game is you, breaking the girls hearts by saying no to they're confession, deleting them, leaving sayori alone. And more.
