My husband and I were very honored to have seen the 7 Temps on the reunion tour. It was late1982 I think. We sat within 20 feet of them. Got to talk to each one and get autographs. If I remember right Otis did the introductions. David was so tall....Eddie had such an angelic voice, soft but not real high.. I do remember David looked bored and glad it was over..he left immediately while others stayed on stage. What a memory...but alas I lost the autographs in all my moves.. And they were on the special reunion playbill. Wish I still had it but .....😒.
Otis still going strong 💪🏽 they really set the standards as far in groups and being in SYNC with being one and they made it clear NO ONES BIGGER THAN THE GROUP
I heard (and read )Eddie saying every time he sang this it reminded him of Paul, as it was the last time he was in the studio recording this, it was with Paul and Paul never got the chance to sing it live with him.
Man if they could have stayed with that lineup? Oh my goodness. Addiction is a killer of all that’s good. Saw them at Radio City, epoch. Miss this guys, the greatest singing group of all time.
When they came to St. Louis, they sang live. St. Louis doesn't play that. We could tell Eddie's voice was shot, But they threw down that night. I heard about issues but they were all there in St. Louis.
The 7 Temps made a reunion album entitled ... " Reunion".... with the help of Smokey Robinson And Rick James help. Then went on TV performances to promote the reunion RECORD AND TOUR ( this is one performance) On the tour that started in late 1982 it was quickly in trouble. David would miss most performances and the group paid huge fines each time he did not appear.. Eddie couldn't hit the high notes because of his huge smoking problem ( and it had been at least 10 years since the 2 had sung with Temps) David sang very little and mostly always unable to sing very well. Due to coke. ( not the drinking kind)... he missed so many that Otis Williams pulled the plug on the reunion part and continued the tour with the 5 Temps at the time. Himself, Melvin Franklin, Dennis Edwards, Glenn Leonard, and Richard Street. Big cities cancelled without Ruffin and Kendricks so they had to schedule smaller appearances in the cities to finish the tour.. It was a financial bust and hurt the Temps comeback as they had hoped it would help them. 😔 you can read all this online.
And the only reason Eddie and David were at the the reunion was because the fans wanted them to sing their original leads, and they knew that, I don’t think they really wanted to be there at all
The feeling was mutual. Otis and Melvin didn’t want to invite them back. Plus, they (David & Eddie) were broke, and desperately needed the money. Otis fired them in December 1982, after David started missing numerous shows, and Eddie’s voice was going because of his smoking years.
@@classic5-ruffinkendrickpwi277They both loved being Temps. I heard David and Eddie say the fans got cheated, so I know they wanted to be there. Shit just happens
There couldn't be a Temptations Reunion without the "VOICES"...it was bittersweet in a sense but Paul loved hearing those familiar songs and sounds🙏. This moment was meant to be...I Loved It!!!😊❤
This was when his voice wasn't as strong as used to be, due to him finding out he had lung cancer because of his smoking habit. He had to lip sync this performace which I know he wasn't happy about
Yea I just took the original sound off and dubbed with the song playing over it but they were lip syncing on the performance so it's pretty much a Remastered Audio
Ok I thought I was going crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm like...The audio and video are synched to a tee but this sounds too much like the record not to be the record. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 GREAT job with the sync! 💪🏾
@@christopherbryant366 if you read he said he changed the audio . They didn’t lip sync back then there was actually pure talent. Temptations was all about harmony .
Yes, David was lip-syncing Paul's part. Sadly, Paul wasn't there physically for the reunion because as you know, he had already passed way before it happened.
