The lessons other wannabe artist could learn from their perspective, talent, professional demeanor, RESPECT😊😅🎉😂❤ not able to duplicate or repeat this Quality. Excellent lessons to be learned!😊😅😮🎉😂❤
I'm 75 and I listen to the early Motown sounds at least 6days out of 7. Because I have so many Good & Happy memories from this period. I sent Berry Gordy a note a few years ago and Thanked him for being the one that saw a vision and brought that vision to us. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dealing with chronic pain because of his arthritis. I know that pain all to well myself. But, I won't allow them to give me cortisone injections anymore. I had a couple long ago. And stopped doing that because it's worse in the long run and those caused him to develop diabetes. And poor Paul he was suffering from Sickle Cell Anemia and in those days there was no treatment for that, which is why he started drinking to numb the pain. He was never a drinker of alcohol. He carried a thermos of milk with him. He had always loved drinking his milk before. But, it got so difficult dealing with the pain of Sickle Cell Anemia. I had the honor/pleasure of meeting Paul Williams Jr as well as Dennis Edwards back in February 2016 for a Valentines Day concert they did I met all those from The Temptations Revue. And had my picture taken with them as well. They were all very kind and funny too. I told Paul Williams Jr that he looks and sounds a lot like his dad and I think that his dad would be very proud of him. He sings his dads part in the songs. But, now that Dennis passed away in 2018. I don't know if the Temptations Revue is still together performing. Back in 2003/04 I had the pleasure of seeing The Temptations in concert. Unfortunately, there was not meet and greet after the show. They were there with other groups, The Four Tops, The O'Jays and The Whispers. Easily the best concert it was a great show and even the comedian between each act was really funny. Would really love to see them all again. And then meet them too.

THERE IS NO GROUP COULD EVER COMPARE WITH THE TEMPS. JUST THE BEST SING AND DANCE AND NEVER MISS A STEP.SIMPLY THE BEST .YOU NEVER SEE ANOTHER GROUP THIS TALLENTED WERE 5 GUYS COULD SING LEAD GREAT
I can only say that I loved listening to each and every song I heard from the Temptations. I saw them once during my teen years and what I saw and heard from that grupo? As far as I was concerned they had it all!!!!!
Smokey Robinson is one of the song writers for Motown. He used to be the lead singer of the Miracles. Otis Williams is the only surviving member of the original Temptations.
The number ONE male singing group forever. Back in the day you could have a house party and just play Temptations records and everybody would be happy.
Don’t forget the Jive Five y’all! And if my dear father in law was still with us he’d be latge and in charge for the Ames Brothers and Nat King Cole and Louis and Sammy!
Well Sheldon, I can't speak for 'ever' coz I won't know what goes on after my death, but I don't see it happening within my lifetime and I'm in my 60's....know what I mean?...lol
Und auch aus America. Es tut mir leid uber den krebst.@@marie-rosedaly4234Ich wunsche Dich viel besseres gesundheit in die zukunft. Detroit und Motown uber aller Welt!..und The Temptations besonders!
My Sister has cancer but every day we just laugh and cry sometime because we lost our baby sister in 5/16/23 to a long illness ,so the oldest sis wanted to go to a nursing home to take the pressure off of me because I took care of parents , mom with dementia ,my dad with covid ,my sil with msl, my lil sis who passed from a broken heart ,my bro who has a bad heart but still here with me so no she not going in a nursing home .
I am a seventy five year old woman from the States of Arkansas and Louisiana and i have been listening to the Temptations since childhood and has always loved them. We would go to our neighborhood hangout and dance for hours. If i was younger i probably would cut a step now when i heard the Temptations.
Cruising around listening to Motown at 71. Still dance and sing to these 5 fabulous voices. Back in their early days if we were cruising we would stop the car crank the radio up and dance on the side of the road. We just couldn't help ourselves once their music got in our feet.....
Hello dear 77 yo Kentuckian via Kansas City and I fully agree; my suburban neighborhood of St Matthews had few black kids who were children of share croppers but all us white kids sold out Bo and David Ruffin and Chuck and Jimmy Reed and then those TX and MS cats and we were well entertained! Oooops I almost forgot Mickey and Sylvia and Hank Ballard and the Everly Brothers and Elvis and life grows short!!!!
best group ever there will never b another group of guys whose voices compliment each other like the Temps Eddie Paul David Melvin and Otis the originals love this group
I was privileged to be invited to dance with the Temps in the early, early 1970’s At a small venue where they were being filmed. Their performance and my experience of being a small part of their show has been a memorable experience of my younger life thrills.
The harmony of this band is incredible, actually many groups of the 70's including the O'Jays, Spinners, Bluenotes, Four Tops, Pips, Miracles, etc... had great harmony, unlike many singing groups of today. Really miss those days.
I WAS A CHILD BUT AS I GREW THIS IS THE MUSIC 🎶🎵 MY PARENTS 💓 LISTENING TO 💯 AND MORE 💯 AND STILL IN THE "GPB" STATION THEY WILL BRING THEM BACK WITH THE OTHERS OUTSTANDING 😃 GROUPS ❤️ AND SINGERS❤️ THAT GAVE GREAT 💯MUSIC 🎵🎶 TO REMEMBER 💓!
As I was listening to him on lead, my thoughts were that he probably could of had a great solo career at some point. His voice would only get drowned out by all the lead singers of the group based on the type songs they sang. He had a bluesy type voice and could of been like a Johnnie Taylor, Marvin Sease, or one of the other contemporary blues singers
You’re right! The Temptations could have scored more hit records! However Paul Williams had his demons to deal with. In the end the demons proved to be more than Paul Williams could handle! May he rest in peace.
I grew up listening to the Temptations along with Marvin Gaye,Stevie Wonder and Earth Wind & Fire.... My parents grew up during the Motown era...The greatest Male R&B group ever!! Hands down!
me too. I bet we are 100 % better than people who in my opinion listen to songs that don't even talk about God's love or love period, Judy divisiness and killing folks and doing perverted acts and things related more to non love
Man, o, man. Those cats had the genuine stage magic and shine. Whatever the "IT" factor is, you know it when you see it, or when it hits you. They definitely had tons of "IT". Kings of 5 part harmony. Back when they could truly boast having 5 lead singers. The best nuanced and coordinated dancing to be found to match those world-class harmonies. Powerful when they all were 20 - 25 years old.
Man, this is true talent...... It's too bad that music has deteriorated to the point that it has. Could you just imagine a group being on TV that sang and performed without being vulgar or exposing themselves for the shock value? Yes sir... This is true talent.
I remember seeing Eddie , Otis, Paul, David, and Melvin live in NJ when l was 16 back in 1967. What a thrill seeing my favorite group. I grew up a jazz lover and l am proud to say the only LPs and CDs that l bought other than jazz are the Temptations. Even though Eddie is my favorite, l must say that the glue to the sound of the group is really Otis. He was the most versatile singer or the group
The Temptations (these guys) was the greatest male singing group in the world. When Paul died and David got on drugs and was fired that ended the original and greatest Temptation group. The replacements never could equal these guys.
@@MichaelBowden-pb1rghe’s talking about when Melvin, Eddie, Otis, and Paul would share a single mic to harmonize while David or Dennis had their own mic singing solo.
The best group of all time was the tempting Temptations. I love them so so much all the groups in that era were good I just like the soul sounds of The Temptations so I take my head off to all the groups of the 60s and the 70s and thank God I was there to enjoy the ride. God bless.
All of these beautiful songs to and about woman...lots of great male groups but none excel the Temptations. They need another movie a better depiction . of the talent, class unmatched, tall dark and handsome men!!!😍😍😍😘❤
Agree completely. Another movie, a better depiction of the Classic Five, what each brought, their journey to Motown and creating the Temptations' legacy
I grew up in Detroit. Met Smokey Robinson (Miracles) and Levi Stubbs from the "Four Tops. Everything coming out of "Motown" during their early years was pure gold. It wasn't uncommon to see one song after another listed on "top song" lists throughout the nation, at one time.
One of the greatest Male groups of sll times.i grew up listening to the temptations they're sort of soundtracks in my life story. RIH to those who have left us.
My heart goes out to them because I don't know what they had to go through between the making of lyrics, dressing, families and travels but they were beautiful then.❤
Amazing music from an epic group. They were a part of my musical life in the 70's and they still stand out as one of the premier musical groups of all time. The Motown sound of the 60's and 70's will just never be duplicated. A great period for fantastic music. Never, ever tire or listening to it. Not enough superlatives in my vocabulary to cover it. Thanks for this snippet of pure gold.
This is GREAT entertainment. I could not buy a ticket and see any live performance today that would top the energy, preciseness, talent, and more from the Temptations.
Thank you Paul Williams for the wonderful singing and coreorafi you made for the group! There will never be another group with your talent and wondeful songs ever!
A little correction when they were new before being the Temps Melvin did the choreography but once signed to motown the late great Cholly Atkins who also did the ojays and spinners Jackson 5 and so many others did the dance steps
their accapella at the end of this video is so powerful...brought me to tears...this is raw..pure talent. today's music can't compare to what these men did.
This musical era produced arguably the best talent ever. The monumental things that were happening in the world at the time. The influence of worship, country, blues, carrlibbean, international etc can be detected during this majical time. It was something els!
One of the best groups of all time. I'm 54 now and remember the songs from my younger years, they give me fond memories of my family. Though I like the men one and all, I cherish the original group the most. These guys were some singing and dancing brothers.
I grew up in Detroit right when they got started, I will always remember the good times, going to the Twenty Grand, Northwestern High School, those were the days. Great memories.
I am 76 years young and enjoy the music of the music of the Temptations from original to the present. BLESS YOU OTIS WILLIAMS, YOU ARE THE BEST. 🎉 THANK YOU
Funny you should be 76 years old and so am I. Have been following the Temptations when they hit the market with 'Beauty's only skin déep'. Dennis Edwards moved into the apartment complex my brother stayed in and I used to run his clothes to the cleaners when Dennis was singing with the Contours at the Congo Lounge on Gratiot at Chene street. (Prior to the Temptations.
You can't hurt them anymore such that it will matter Otis no one really cares about this group The true stars are gone and everybody knows that never included you Sorry
It's so awesome that after 50+ years, we can still sing along to all of our favorite Temptation songs. What a phenomenal group. Thank you so much for putting this video together. 😊💖🎶
I agree and I always say, things were better because we were all dancing in this Country. Now that we've loss so many it gives great pleasure that RU-vid has all our music right here. If only we could bring it all back. Now we are seniors nearing our last year's, I miss my family too. Noone told me aging was going to be so painful or that death has no empathy. Since, loosing so many especially since covid there's hardly anyone left. I truly pray we will all be joined again in the after life. I tell ya, if it was great here well then we are surely in for a better reunion. Blessings ❤
OMY goodness the temptations was soooooooo professional sooooooo beautiful singers I loved them wayyyyyy back from my older brothers ❤ those 45’s & ALBUMS❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite group. I've seen them over a dozen times. The first time was back in either 1966 or 1967. Even saw their Reunion Tour concert at Radio City Music Hall. May I say a fantastic show 😀
first time seeing this video and it's wonderful. They all were fantastic but Paul was my favorite.... he sang with such emotion in his voice. Groups like this only come around once in our lifetime and maybe that's the way it should be.
THE TEMPTATIONS WERE AND STILL ARE IN MY OWN OPINION, THE BEST MALE VOCAL GROUP IN HISTORY SO FAR. WITH DAVID, EDDIE, MELVIN, PAUL AND OTIS WHO COULD TOUCH THEM CATS MAN? NOOOOOBODY!!!
People will always say that David was much better than Dennis as lead. The fact is, they both had much different sounds. David was pure passion with a greater voice range, whereas Dennis was gritty, almost gospel-sounding soul. Dennis' voice was perfect for that late 60s, early 70s transition to psychedelic funk, garnering the Tempt's first grammy with "Cloud Nine," and their second with "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." I'm just glad that the Tempt's success didn't leave when David did.
David wasn't a better singer than Dennis but I liked him better. I liked the group's songs in the Ruffin period better. To me the Temptations will always be David... and Eddie.
I agree with krame99. Without David the group would have never taken off. It was this particular combination of voices, attitudes and personalities that made this group. The majority of the hits by the Temptations were made by these 5 men. They had a few with Dennis Edwards. But they could never replace or duplicate David, Paul or Eddie. The replacements never come close to duplicating the magic that these 5 made. They were the greatest group in my life time.
I also agree with you there was a magic with the group but there were 4 very good singers David,Eddie,Paul and Melvin Otis was a backup at best he never sang lead on any of the groups songs. People just watched the movie and are going by false facts the real facts are that in 1965 the temps had three number one hits one Eddie sang lead on the other two David sang lead on. Now on to 1966 they had 5 number one hits Eddie sang lead on two of them and David sang lead on three of them. Right there are facts look them up do whatever you want David Ruffin is in a class with very few i can't seem to find one guy that can sing like him there was David Ruffin and Little Sonny Brown of The intruders I'm still waiting for two guys to step up and sing like them two. I would have put Levi Stubbs in there but the four tops found a great replacement for him so these are just facts not false to make a movie good when your own boss Barry Gordy says your the best to ever sing for Motown taking about David Ruffin that means something.
***** And those are the FACTS of this matter. .... People fail to realize a MOVIE will tell part of the story..... It's Hollywood and they only tell you what SOUNDS good, But in order to get the real scoop you have to open books. lol ..... Thanks for that True fact Knowledge Krame99
That acapella of "You're My Everything" at the end says it all. Those five men could really sing, harmony impeccable. I've already listened to it about 4 times, guess I'll listen a few times more.
Dennis Edwards was great too. My formative years were during the Psychedelic Shack era. Yes I'm old enough to know all the Ruffin era hits and they are timeless, but I was starting to buy my own albums not just singles then, and the Temptations were my favorite group.
69 year old white boy from the country in Oklahoma. The Temptations made me fall in love with Motown and many of the groups that were with them during that period of great music.
Thanks so much Josh for this treasure. I am a die hard Tempts fanatic. After looking at their choreograph I was knocked off my feet to see the precision in their steps.Believe me we will never see anything close to this type of commitment to perfection in entertainment. Temptations forever. ......
I wish we all had these days back. Nobody is happy as they were in the past and I believe its because we aren't dancing anymore! I pray the Temptations Living family is doing well and know that they had been loved and remain within us now seniors hearts. Blessings ❤
WOW. I am so glad you posted this. I grew up with the Temps and miss all the wonderful songs. I could watch this over and over. They are an awesome group. So many songs from the 90's and on can't even come close to the TALENT these men have THANK YOU for posting this. :)
They were the best Motown group, period, and that's saying a lot. all of those groups had moves, but the Temps had thee moves. Fun to watch and wonderful to listen to.
