A buddhist monk gave me a couple thoughts that stuck with me, and I think might apply/help here...IMHO. "Whenever you or someone else is being rude/cruel/etc to another person, they are only trying to relieve themselves of their own suffering." and "Whenever someone tries to give you their gift of suffering, you don't have to accept it. See it for what it is."

I like when an established pro shares their self-doubt, recent garbage photos, etc. as it tells me as an amateur there is an example of where I can grow to.

Justin, I kind of think that advice works as a general rule for life... Those who are successful push through and discard negative energy and thoughts -- and focus on upsides and positive energy.

Wait, what are these links I see? I thought no ads? "Nothin to plug". How can I NOT give someone from Rhode Island a hard time? All kidding aside, a great topic. I have been fighting the demons of self-doubt for a long time. You have to be a little cocky I think to survive and stay the course. You will never know if your work is good enough until you make the leap. Thanks Jason.

I had never realised exactly who you were, until now at 1.40 & 1.45 on the video, the capture and the subsequent editing (Im assuming you did give them some further impact by editing and they are not straight out of camera) are to my mind trully iconic photos. You have my utmost respect :) If I was younger and lived closer your workshops would be VERY tempting.

@@AskMOTT Vietnam is a possibility, my daughter in law is from there, a boat refugee to Aus in the 80´s. But so many places to see on the planet and fast vanishing time :)

Riddled with self-doubt. Yup, this sums up many years of my thought process. I have halted myself for years because of this affliction. The only way I have been able to get myself back onto my computer is convince myself that EVERYTHING I do, create, I do for me and me alone. It’s when I start to think I’m creating for others, I get all messed up. The problem with this mindset, is if I’m going to sell anything, it’s gotta be for others. I remain stuck sometimes. Does this make any sense?

@@AskMOTT Haha - sorry that was worded awkwardly. Not my actual work, but more so my approaching people at venues where my work could be seen. I most recently submitted some of my work to Lensculture for a portfolio review and receive strongly positive feedback.

Justin I have over 60k “keepers” in my Lightroom catalog collected since 2017 - I haven’t posted a photo online in over 3 years and I was wondering if you had any experience with feeling completely blocked from such an important part of photography; sharing your photos and talking about photography with others.
