I listened to BE without any translations the first time. When this song came on, from the very first note, I stopped what I was doing and LISTENED. I cried and cried. It hit deep and still does. We're so used to keeping everything bottled up inside, especially now with Covid everywhere, and people saying it'll get better don't worry. This song is saying telling us to stop and take the time to really listen to each other because being isolated from others effects us all differently. Any social or anxiety issues are made worse. The entire album is what we need right now.

*Instead of saying "hey cheer up", this song is like "we are in the same boat, dont worry"*

V wrote this song to address his own demons. He said in an interview that he wrote this in the lowest point in his life where he couldn't be sure if he could keep going. He wanted us to listen to this and get the message that if we're feeling the same, he's not sharing it with us as someone above us, but someone who's also having these dark thoughts, these struggles, so let's talk about this thing and deal with it together. V's such a gentle, gentle soul I love him for that

Blue and grey was written by V He said in weverse interview V: There was a time I was going through something like this. I was having the toughest time, but I couldn’t keep carrying that feeling around with me. Instead, I could use it as a kind of fertilizer. So I took care of that feeling by constantly writing it down in my notes. I just kept writing everything down, and when finally I felt like I wanted to try writing a song, I did. After the song was finished, I felt a sense of accomplishment, and that’s how I was able to let go of “Blue & Grey.” That was one way I wanted to try getting over my problem. What do you hope hearing about that feeling will do for listeners? V: Rather than just some stranger telling them to cheer up, I think it’s better to say something like, “You seem depressed lately,” or, “Seems like these days it’s tough for you to perk up.” “Blue & Grey” is the same: “You’re depressed lately? Me too. We’re in the same boat. Wanna talk about how you’re feeling? You wanna feel better, right? I know, but sometimes it feels like you’re being washed away by a whirlpool of stress.” I want the listeners to hear me saying that to them.

Blue & Grey is my favorite on BE album💜 Taehyung is the main composer and producer for this song! He is a lyrical genius. Originally this song was in english for his mixtape, but the members liked it so much they asked him to put it on the album! This song is a masterpiece! I'm so proud of Tae 😭💜

The last part where V sang he sleeps at dawn, there was a point where he can’t sleep with a lot of thoughts. He’d sleep at dawn and would even feel very sleepy at work. He would turn to weverse, social media to interact with fans and he would feel loved. But after that he’d feel empty - he talked about this during In the Soop. We’re all glad tho that he’s doing much better now, in an interview he mentioned that he had a lot of worries but now he’s happy - it took him a long time to be happy again. Thus, the song just gives so much meaning, color.

RM's rap is all about accepting the grey and learning to live and thrive in that grey world. There is a part in his rap where he reference "grey faces", which to me is so inclusive because it recognizes that there are so many of us who live in grey.

The whole song was actually in English. But V made a few changes for it to have Korean lyrics.

Tae is a genius for producing and writing this masterpiece. Most of us realized sth was going on with him since 1 maybe 2 years. (Which is totally normal, we all have these kinds of different problems, that's why his lyrics are so relatable.) He opened himself with that song to us, and that's probably just a snippet. I can't hold my tears with just one song, I don't know how I will be able to listen to Tae's mixtape. His lyrics are tough and comforting at the same time. I want to listen to his songs whenever I feel any emotion. Sadness, happiness, anxiety, hope, despair. Tae's songs are my saviour.

"I just wanna be happier, is that too much to ask for?" I cried so hard when I heard this part. Numerous times I've swallowed my pain and keep telling myself that I'll be okay, that other people are having it harder than me and I should be grateful for the life that I have. Sometimes I just cry by myself to release the emotion that I feel at that time, when I feel like it hurts a lot in my throat & I couldn't take it anymore. So it really feels liberating to hear them tell us, "Don't say it's okay because it's not okay." I hope everyone can find a healthy way to deal with their hardships.

I cried when I hrd this song..it hits so hard cuz there is always a time when we are stuck and there is a lot of pressure and depression and sometimes we are just on the verge of falling into never-ending pit of self-loathing but we have to get a hold of ourselves and survive.. i personally interpret “i secretly take back the words that are floating in the air” as tae finally being able to let go of these heavy feelings in the form of music. he mentioned in the press conference for BE that he was feeling burned out when he started working on this song, but creating something out of those negative emotions helped him get through it.

V mentioned during the conference that, there were days when he was suffering from a burnout, and in those days, he used to have deep thoughts, and because of that, he couldn't sleep, so by the time he had fallen asleep, it was already dawn. And that's what he meant in the last part of the song

Taehyung, I'm so glad he called this period in his life when he wrote it as "burnout" instead of the heavy of depressed. Too many idols passed last year and before because of it. It's something I've dealt with since I was 5, I'm in my 30s now. It's not easy, but I get by. One moment at a time, even if it is mostly sad, I'm still here. As long as I can.

When Taehyung wrote this song, he was having a rough time and I am so proud of him because he overcome it. Now he's sharing it through Blue and Grey, I love that about him. He's like telling us that we are in this together and we shouldn't give up cause everything will be alright. Blue and Grey is another healing song from him... When I first listened to this, I also said it has the same vibe as Sweet Night but when I read the lyrics, it's actually the contrast. This is so deep and V is such a soulful person and he wants us to understand him better on a whole new personal level.

As Jin said in his weverse magazine interview, when he first listened to this without the rap part at first, he already felt it. This is the second song he personally liked. The first is spring day 👑. Like even the melody without the lyrics can make you feel the emotions of the song and hits hard when you heard and understand the lyrics. Tae did a great job💜

I love how raw the emotions are in this song. Everyone can relate if we're being honest with ourselves. Our sweet V (and the other members) deserves a lot of praise for being so incredibly vulnerable. We can so easily put artists on a pedestal, thinking that they are above the rest of us common folk and that they don't experience things like we do. V just broke that image. He is human, he struggles too. That is what makes him so relatable. He has a gift with words that helps others to express themselves. This is part of the journey of healing. 💜💜💜

A lot of Armys realized that Taehyung wasn't feeling ok, he wouldn't smile anymore, he wouldn't laugh like years ago, he even wouldn't talk at all in a lot of interviews, but some other Armys said " He's just matured, don't assume he's depressed" But Taehyung couldn't sleep as well, I saw him a lot of times saying on Weverse "it's 5 AM and I can't sleep again" And Army "Tae please try go to sleep" A year later bts release this song, and here you are, Taehyung was depressed. The way it was worded is extremely personal and yet so relatable... I lost count how many time he was up this year till dawn talking to ARMY or saying he can't sleep, even the angel at the opening verse He always says that even if he has no religion he believes in angles and that they always protect him, and now the lyrics is looking for them I'm just glad he shared this with us and used writing as a way of coping

This is my favorite song from the album. Upon my first time hearing it I was overcome with so much emotion that I had to cry and I didn't even know what they were singing about. This just further illustrates V's immense talent at song writing. He's able to move you with his lyrics and melodies even with a language barrier. That's why I adore him so much as an artist and person!

Feeling anxious and depressed is something you could deny and brush off. In V's song, acknowledging these emotions doesn't mean you are weak. It means that through self-reflection, we could learn more about ourselves - flaws and gems. and sometimes, we do not need answers to our personal issues, we just need to know that there is someone behind us willing to listen and offer a warm hug...

I am sad to know Tae has gone through such hard times and I sincerely hope he is doing okay now. It was so nice of him to share such a personal song with us....it is sad but also so beautiful. I was especially impressed with the vocal line here, the harmonies are outstanding and give me chills....they all really did an outstanding job.

Remember at At MAMA 2018, V in full red and bawling his eyes out at the revelation that BTS considered disbanding. I believe this song was born from that time when he lost love for the craft and performances. We see the beautiful sets, exquisite wardrobes and smiling faces, but the heart lies within troubled many times. It's sad that it is from heartbreak that beauty shines in this song, but let us pray that V will love himself, his gift to the world and just be happier. And all who hurt will be happy, too

This song for me speaks to why BTS keeps me going. I have chronic depression and have struggled with it all my life and to hear someone adress and bring to light all the emotions that come with it makes you feel validated and less like you are alone in this. And I honestly cried the first time I heard this because I knew, without the lyrics I knew they knew. They addressed and they didnt brush it off and it's a powerful and comforting song. When I finally read the lyrics I resonated so hard with Yoongis verse and the Dont say it's going to be Okay. And I resonated with I just want to be Happier and the ground feels so heavier I am singing by myself. This song is such a Truth and it eases some of that gravitational pull knowing I am not alone and supported by BTS with my mental illness, because they deal with it to. And that is priceless. Its a.rare gift that. A group with a heart so big they make you feel less small. More significant. Like it's okay not to be okay, I am with you. That's what this song says to me and it means the world to me. I am glad you enjoyed the lyrics and thank you for insightful commentary.

Very simple line but carries some weight, " I fall asleep at dawn, goodnight". When a lot of things going and finally, your mind let you sleep, but it's already dawn

My interpretation of V's last line is that when we can't sleep, then negative thoughts come to our minds and the negative words remain floating in our heads keeping us awake, but at some point, we are just tired of thinking, then we take back these words and fall asleep.

I’ve suffered from depression and anxiety for a few years now. The words in this song are one hundred percent accurate! People do just say get over it. But they don’t understand it’s a daily battle even with treatment. I have good days and bad days. But never give in!!!💜💜💜💜

When I 1st listen to this song without knowing the lyrics, I shed tears, because you could really feel the emotions. But when I check out the lyrics I can't stop crying. You know when sometimes life is tough and tiring, you can't sleep because there's so many thoughts going through your mind and there's no one to share it with, until you really get tired and sleepy and it's dawn already. This is their way of telling us that someone understands you, coz even them or even other people that you'd think have all the reasons to be happy somehow experienced this. This song is definitely an arrow straight to the heart. It addressed something most if not all of us had at one point in our life had experienced or currently experiencing. This does not comfort in a way that tells you everything is okay. This is a different type of comforting. Its like its giving you the time to like "go, feel your pain. Release it. Let it all out. This time its just you. Adress it. Look at it closely".. It always feels good to let everything out. The more its kept in, the heavier its going to be. This song is just so relatable. It "humanizes me" it makes me feel - feel.

This monologue of Taehyung's is his real feeling that he went through last 1 year That's why its so touching. Last verse cast light to us how he's able to manage this grief , that is by put the floating feeling together into word finally he was able to felll asleep. Tbh, this song is my favorite out of the album. In my opinion this song is much better than life goes on. Of course LGO is beautiful, but this song hit me. Because LGO comforts you but this song didn't comfort me at all, instead it cried with me. When I got back from Iraq, I was "fine" for 10 years. Admitting I was depressed and getting help from the VA literally turned my life around. All the guys did a solo interview with Weverse magazine (there are English links on twitter). V talks a lot about this song and the meaning behind it.

This is one of the heaviest songs I've ever heard. Haunting and REAL. To show this vulnerability is such a gift. They just reinforce that they are human, facing the same things everyone else does....its not about money or fame its about being an affected human. I can only imagine how abrupt the stop was for them....jarringly and scary. They had been pedal to the medal for years then nothing. How scary for them and us. They are just people trying to navigate this crisis like us all. Gosh I love them.

I'm glad that Tae shared in his weverse interview more of a background how this song came about. We heard of bit of it on SOOP while he was in the canoe. My understanding is that the original didn't have the rap parts and that the rapline wrote those lines. I love this version but I also hope to one day hear the version Tae had intended for his mixtape. Even before I knew the words just the music and voice tones were touching me deeply. Now that I know the background it touches me even more. Bravo to all involved.
