Actually a REBOOT would have a new cast playing the roles THIS cast originated, what we need is a REUNION movie that would be a pilot for CONTINUING the original series years later, much like Full House did with Fuller House

Brooke recently posted pictures of her w Heather and Deborah. They are still very close. Also, Brooke and Joann’s children were roommates in college. You can tell there was a general fondness for each other. Such a great show.

There is a guy on here who is doing airings of the episodes and commenting on things that occur. Look up RetroFat. This guy, Jeremy, who looks a bit like Bill, is the man doing it and it is great! Especially since he has gotten the original ABC episodes from somebody so we see the stuff that was cut from the USA Network syndicated version

Me too! I loved that show. Always wanted to dress like them and I laughed at that show so much!

I think they didn't want to start pointing fingers and such, but it had to do with ABC wanting TGIF to be all Miller Boyett shows. Maybe because they were all very similar or something and this show was a little different than that. So they took it off and replaced it with Going Places from MB, which even got retooled midseason before it was cancelled. They couldn't find another night to put this on, sadly, or at least bring it back midseason. I'm glad ABC has long since admitted this mistake.

Would have been good on Tuesdays. Head of the Class should have been cancelled after Howard Hesseman left

Rights issues are the bugaboo keeping it off DVD (mainly music rights---especially shows with the Lubbock Babes).

@@MDCSWildcats86 Warner Archive did the last 4 seasons of Growing Pains on DVD in 2015-16. Not sure what's so hard about just cranking these two seasons out to go with them. They also did the last 5 seasons of Perfect Strangers in 2018-19 and have been doing Head of the Class seasons since 2020 with one left to go. Perhaps they will eventually get to Just the Ten of Us once they get through these more long-running series. Of course, WB was just bought by Discovery and they may not be as willing to spend the money on these releases anymore.

Where can I find full episodes

One episode that seems a little sad is the episode where Marie goes to a convent for two weeks. Elizabeth drives her and they have a Twilight Zone experience. The part where Marie doesn't understand why Elizabeth is telling her not to do this and she is crying is moving.

He also directed all the WV episodes and is set to direct the next Star Trek movie

You know they recorded all the songs in their entirety. Heck, I’d pay to download them. Their Beatles’s version of This Boy (featured one the comedy night episode) was better version than the Beatles! Imo. Still got your fire and make something of it are really great songs.

I still listen to Still Got Your Fire regularly, Caught you red handed, If you want my love and If you want to make something of it. I d o believe they are all Steve Dorff Originals as he was the music producer for the show. I am still on the notion that Still got your Fire was meant to be release as a single on to the market to test out a possibility of a full Lubbock Babes CD. I love their rendition of The Beatles Im Happy Just to Dance with You. The Ballad of Sweeny Todd, Somewhere Between Like and Love. Maybe one day with newer technology, they will release all the full complet songs sung by the Lubbock Babes. I will be the first one in line to purchase it. :-)

RIch Blankinship. He worked on a number of 70s, 80s, and 90s sitcoms as the series editor and associate director.

Right, ABC wanted all the TGIF shows to be Miller-Boyett shows, until Boy Meets World happened anything that wasn't either got passed on or they cancelled it quick. The ratings were really good when it got cancelled, they weren't the ratings a dying show got. Definitely should have gone at least another full year, probably more. Huge dumb ass decision on ABC's part!

Despite appearances, that's not quite how it went down. ABC had no incentive to want all productions on any given night to be from a single producer no matter who. In fact, it would only cost them money, which I'll get to in a moment. What ABC wanted was for JTTOU to anchor TGIF as it had strong enough ratings that they felt it could carry the programming block and get these new shows some traction. That's why it was there rather than another MB show. You don't introduce a prime-time block consisting entirely of debuting programs if you can help it. There's no guaranteed draw. ABC intended JTTOU to be the top dog of TGIF, the one show that was safe in the lineup with the new shows positioned tentatively around it, reshuffled or replaced depending on performance until a solid lineup was found. JTTOU was essentially "safe from cancellation". So what happened? _Miller-Boyett_ happened. They strong-armed the network into relinquishing JTTOU time slot because their deal with ABC granted them a much larger percentage of the advertising revenue on any night that the 8-10pm primetime block consisted entirely of their productions. It's a standard clause usually made with TV movies in mind, not weekly programming blocks because that generally doesn't happen to fall to a single entity. But here MB found themselves with an hour and a half all their own and if they just had that other 30 minutes it would roughly _double_ their overall revenue from that night and on a _weekly_ basis. Their contract with the network was up for renegotiations at the end of that first season and they threatened to walk, with their shows, right to NBC or CBS if ABC didn't give them that time slot. ABC caved. A stupid decision? More like a stupid situation. But business-wise, there really was no decision. Even I wouldn't have let MB walk and I think their shows are formulaic garbage. But they consistently made garbage people liked. Better to sacrifice one hit show than to lose several potential hits to a rival network. Sucks for us though. I finally got my filthy hands on the entire series and watched them for the first time since the late 1990s and it holds up surprisingly well. It may even come off a bit better now than it did then, though that could just be because I'm old enough now to have a better understanding of it. It definitely feels unique and far from the generic drivel that was typical of "family sitcoms" at the time.

Shame ABC didn't renew it as a mid season replacement..as a back up.

@@zmbdog Thank you for the explanation, and you're correct, but you're missing one thing. The show could have been moved to another night, but ABC execs chose not to do it, which was a bit of a head-scratcher. Supposedly the assumption was that Just the Ten of Us was succeeding largely upon the merits of being part of TGIF, and wouldn't enjoy similar ratings if moved to another night. However, when the show's replacement "Going Places" flopped badly, which led executives to realize they had made a mistake. Clearly viewers weren't just riding along on TGIF and willing to watch anything, as they turned off their TVs when "Going Places" came on. Therefore, Just the Ten of Us had been succeeding on its own merits, not on the merits of the TGIF block! However, it was too late. The show had been canceled and completely dismantled, and it wasn't quite valuable enough to bring back. All they could do was own up to their mistake in order to pacify angry fans, and move on. Just the Ten of Us went down in history as one of the only shows to get cancelled despite good ratings and a cast fully willing to return.

It's a hit show, _you make room_ ! Or like Joseph said, hold it for midseason. You know some new shows are going to bomb, they can't all be hits. Might've killed JTTOU's momentum, but an established show is still better odds than any new replacement. Of course this is the same network that only recently owned up to a 1978 wiping session that had been rumored since maybe the late 1980s. This session destroyed significant chunks of _The Edge of Night_ and _Wide World of Mystery_ . Probably could've found home recordings to preserve if they admitted it back then. Instead they waited until well after any such tapes have vanished into the sea. ABC: Killing shows through incompetence for decades!

Warner is really slow. Only in the last couple years did they start putting Head of the Class on DVD. I imagine they will get to this one someday but that it is down on their list. But since Warner was just sold, who knows if they will continue to do these DVDs under the new leadership.

They weren't, that's the problem. They were under pressure by Miller Boyett, whose contract was up, to give them that timeslot on Friday nights. ABC didn't want to let MB take a hike because they were continuously creating more and more shows, and a lot of them were successful. The JTTOU producers weren't doing that, so their reasoning was to give in to MB, knowing that they'd have more hits from them. Step by Step became one of the later hits. Why they didn't renew the show for midseason is beyond me too. Guess they figured you don't do that with an old show. I'm just glad ABC admitted their mistake a year later.

@@sha11235 actually older shows can be a mid-season replacement they did it with step-by-step and Hanging with Mr Cooper in the later years? Also if it's true I heard ABC wanted Miller boyette to create a show for the 9:30 time slot.

@@jedijones Growing Pains was good until Kirk got all self righteous......TBH I had a friend who was a lot like Boner so I didn't really find him particularly funny or likable. The only exception was scenes with Carol....How many of us wanted to see them together?? I couldn't stand Eddie Also the backdoor pilot to Just the Ten Us began my 30+ year crush on Jamie Luner
