just use a pry bar for those Jack Stand tabs.  

This helps so much, my dumbass just gave up and just stored the two pieces together

Two problems with this 1. Can't use the center shaft as hammer or wedge 2. If the stand is too high you can take the center shaft out just use the base....

Why didnt you just put the roll pin in the hole at the bottom of the pawl that comes with the jack stand?

You can also take a bolt and not put through that bottom hole and do the same thing.

As if my big ass screwdriver 40 years ago, would have never done the same thing..
