The weight test is great, but it’s not enough.

It’s not just coins that have this weight test problem. I’ve seen it with bars as well.
The manufacturers are getting better at making counterfeits.
Always use multiple testing methods.
If you or someone you know would like to test metals with the Pocket Pinger, the ping test tool in the video, they’re available at CoinPingTest.com
Disclaimer: All the risks associated with pinching a coin in between your fingers and tapping it are present when using the device. The ping test is used for alloy identification. Always compare the sound of a potential counterfeit with the sound of a known authentic or trusted data base. Any difference in sound is a strong indication that further testing is needed. Always use multiple testing methods.
A simple ping test really can save you from a counterfeit situation.
The Pocket Pinger has contributed to catching over 100 fake coins, all confirmed.
If you catch one with yours please reach out. There’s a valuable lesson to share in each story.
Dozens of Pocket Pinger demo videos can be found on the profile.
If you know someone that might like or benefit from this content please share it with them.
Happy hunting.
Test your stack.

That real ring says it all! I always test with weight, measure with calipers, magnetic slide and, you got it, my pinger!! (I usually start with my pocket ping Tester!)

On the ping test. Is it true that (1) a real coin can on occasion test bad but usually test good.....and (2) that a fake coin can NEVER test good. Thanks!

Hey W Alkerone, 1, I’ve seen real coins fail the ping test when they’re badly damaged, have a lamination issue, cracks, have been tampered with in someway, or just right out counterfeits. 2, I’ve never seen a fake coin with the correct dimensions and weight as an authentic coin pass a ping test, there is a law for this principle, but I don’t believe in absolutes and recommend every one use multiple testing methods.

Hey, the apps are great as far as I know. If you found an issue with one please report it to the app company you’re using! And also let me know about it so I can learn from it! A lot can happen with the apps, like microphone quality, back ground noise, current update on the device, current device, I always recommend people test a couple times on the apps just to be more sure. Also to use multiple testing methods. Definitely weight and dimensions.
