Both Jeems and Lil Blade were ON POINT in this battle. I know it's hard to accept our favorite dancers getting beaten, but it's nice to know that there's a new generation of hip-hop dancers on the rise and these two are at the forefront of it.
+jawapulog I disagree, and here's my reasoning: Majid had good musicality (transitioning from one sound to another fluidly), technique, groove and originality (came in with his own distinct monkey style) while his opponent literally only did basic variations of footwork with no additional twists, and he only showed great musicality once through his entire round. P-Dog wasn't as great as Majid but his footwork/gliding had great flow/technique to it and he brought the energy, and while his opponent was a lot better (better groove/perfectly timed power move/etc.), he repeated the crisscross 5 times (including the combo part).
+Ken Inao You're right, when it comes to technique, originality and maybe even understanding the music, Majid may be light-years ahead of Lil Blade (who I'm assuming you're referring to) because he's been in the game far longer than Lil Blade has (Lil Blade might even consider him one of his idols, as I do). However, when it comes to battles like these, the best judges don't look for who can do the fanciest looking, most original moves on beat. What they look for is true musicality, meaning the one who more effectively communicates the music. And most of the time, true musicality goes to the one who FEELS the music better at the moment and communicates that feeling. For me, Lil Blade was able to achieve this by taking that moment and feeling the music in his rounds. True repeated a lot and his "criss-cross" moves may look amateurish, but looking at the big picture, all of his moves constituted a round wherein he felt and effectively communicated the music better through feeling. Although I can't find the video right now, even Majid himself has said in an interview in the past that when he judges, he doesn't look at the dancers combos or moves, but rather he looks at whether they really feel the music or are in the moment. I know this sounds all sounds pretty outlandish with all its subjectivity, but in a way, that's how I think hip-hop dance is more dynamic compared to a style that's technical-heavy like Bboying. I don't know if you'll agree with this long post or not, and just rule out Niki and the other experienced judges as "inept"; all I ask is that you (and anyone else reading this) be more open minded when looking at dance. :)
jawapulog I understand where people come from with that reasoning, and in this game it's totally plausible since how one sees feeling the music is completely subjective. I thought Majid felt it several times more than Lil Blade, but it's all subjective to who's watching in the end haha
Haha it's so funny how Majid tells Lil Blade in the second round "no tricks" and a few seconds later he nonetheless kills the beat with his trick and Majids reaction to that :D
+jeezy. this is the first time i've seen them! and i thought that they had it! what are you saying about bboy moves? i dont see people complaining when ukay, rochka or killason use a freeze in a battle Stop hating and give cred where it's due!
People downvoting because of the decision rather than the battle itself. Just enjoy it for what it is - a great battle. I would have liked to see more from Majid myself, but he will be back soon and kill another event.
+Olivar Rodén just 17 people clam down lol, u shouldnt care about likes or dislikes if u just here for the battle, doesnt mean shit to you, but just imo. it was a great battle none the less, im not a big majid fanboy, so i can say i thought they won, but both did fuckng good :D
Super late reply (just re-visiting this), but I was just going off of the vibe of the comments. Of course a battle as sick at this has more up- that downvotes, and personally I think it was very close. Majid won the first, second is very close, and the third I'd hand to Lil Blade. Lil Blade with a more skilled partner would make a killer duo!
I don't know maan, it was a cool battle and Lil Blade is a very talented dancer but apart from that few beat kills he repeat himself a lot and (at least for me) wasn't as engaging as Majid during the last round.
Yes thank you finally someone else that agrees with me! He repeats the criss cross more than any other dancer I've seen repeating themselves, and it's not just here lol it was also at Holland too
Lil Blade is already a monster at his young age but let's be honest Jeems is pretty average compared to the other dancers in the competition. Majid and P-Dog should have won. Easily.
Respect to James & Lil Blade but I think the judges kinda have fucked up here. And later, the battle against Rochka & Waydi - the same shit. Not because any of these dancers are my favorites, I really think the new generation still need to grow.
+SwordlessOne Wait what? You really are so biased to believe that Rochka and Waydi lost that battle? You sound bitter as fuck homie. The judges made 100% correct decision in this battle, they one sided that second round completely, no discussion.
u said ''I think the judges kinda fucked up here'', i don't know if you know this, but your basically saying ''The judges fucked up'', know what you're saying before you type. And there are also more opinions than yours
+d15craxx Are you dumb or something? Waydi and Rochka did lost their battle against them, to everyone surprise, myself included. Thats why he said the judge fucked up. Because they make lil blade and James win their battle against Majid, Waydi and Rochka.
His partner is pretty good today, you should watch Hip Hop Kingz finale Majid and Frankee Dee vs Luciano (Lil Blade) and Jeems, it's a pretty recent battle. You should also be aware people can improve, I'm glad Lil Blade never gave up his mate, unlike what you suggested him to do.
Its not what your potential is in dance it is how you dance on the day. Lil blade and Jeems won this fair and square. Artists get bored and start to divert their styles and also get bored of battling but all the crowd want is someone who is hungry and kills it every round.
I feel that lil blade & jeems are getting too much inspired for les twins. Everyone who saw les twins battle in fusion concept 2014 will agree as well. But they're still good, specially lil blade. Majid, as usual, killed every single moment.
Lil blade is really good, even if he loose against Majid, for sure. But the real problem is, it shouldn't be any extra round, Majid & PDog won in the regular rounds... It doesnt make any sens... Majid destroyed Lil Blade and Pdog is above James for sure. So basically, even Lil Blade is super good, the team Majid & PDog won this...in the normal battle. The last round, it's a 50/50, but lets face it, musicallity, diversity of mooves, sens of music... Majid overkilled the young man, which is completly normal...
