10 years into my career at GM Lordstown they closed the doors. A plant that my father put in 51 years, almost as long as the plant was open!!! My last day they announced they were building the Blazer in Mexico. Something that could have been built there in that plant and here in the U.S.A. Talk about a slap in the face to the people that worked there and dedicated their lives to. Not to mention the surrounding communities. I feel your pain brothers and sisters. Stay strong!! UAW 👊🏼
You're greedy and made trash. Mexicans work harder than you. The UAW fightsfor illegal aliens to work in the US, with your union dues. You DESERVE to be homeless. Union workers are pathetic.
Stop making garbage. A new Ford pickup is $100k, because they pay drug addicts to make trash. EVERY Asian and European car ia better than EVERY "American" car. You're juat lime the idiots in Hollywood. Go on strike, and starve.
I Love my Belvedere coworkers and I ruit for the best of all of them. A lot of them came to our plants Detroit and they had to do these things on short notice. Some of them had to make that decision to transfer in today and STELLANTIS gave them only 10 measly days to get their affairs in order and move to Michigan. One of my Belvedere couldnt even sell his home with in that time and he had to manage his living conditions here in Michigan AND in Illinois. These companies behind closed doors are ruthless when it comes to the employees. Treat the employees better who make you the Billions and Trillions of dollars
❤❤❤YES!!! A Labor party, comprised of US...the people who labor to make this country what it is. Let the workers control THEIR destinies. God forbid, the blood, sweat, tears, pain, and time WE give to these greedy corporations...we have EARNED a right to be heard, to direct OUR futures.
Where are the politicians that the UAW money backs? There should be a big return on investment here, yet we have crickets from Washington. Hope we invest more wisely in the future.
UAW takes money from Americans to fight for illegal aliens to work in the US. I'm sure that a prerequisite to join the UAW is a passing grade in special ed.
How about, Justice for Lordstown, Baltimore and Warren? We are still waiting from LAST contract. The UAW won in Arbitration, last year, yet nothing has been done
You got that right brother. I had 7 years at Trenton Engine, worked their 6 years prior as a contractor. That plant was cranking out engines like crazy! Now it’s pretty much done. WTF!!!

The UAW takes money from Americans to make sure illegals can work in the US. You guys make trash while you earn what, $125k a year? While your union "boss" makes $1M per year to not work. The car companies are your boss, twit. I only buy Mercedes, Audi, Aston Martin, and the like now. I'm too smart to be scammed.
And Kokomo, IN GM is about to be added to that pitiful list. You know. The plant that Used to make the ICs the whole world is back ordered on. The same facility that took that idle IC plant and in less than 60 days and retooled into manufacturing life saving ventilators the whole world desperately needed during the world wide pandemic. Yup. That's what you get when you have dedicated union worker's on your crew. High quality products done on time when needed. But obviously that don't mean shit to when corporate America needs to make and keep their trillions for the select few. So much for trickle down economics, heh. That's leaves whole communicaties standing in piss from being premeditatedly pissed on. Right to work that, fools. The working classes had better figure out sooner rather than too much later which side their bread needs buttered. And who exactly is doing that buttering for whom.
Stand strong Belvidere! UAW local 686 stands with you and Stellantis should be ashamed. Unbelievable. We can't give up. Corporate greed hurts us all and Stallantis is showing its true colors even regarding negotiations. We are all here with you. Stand strong Brothers and Sisters! Stand Strong
You're overpaid, and you make the worst cars in the world. The UAW makes sure illegal aliens work in the US, and fights for the jobs of losers that get drunk and high on lunch. You deserve MAYBE $10 per hour.
My heart aches for you. As U A W 1005 I know I could be in the same boat. These big corporations are destroying America in the name of the Almighty dollar
No, the UAW is destroying shit. You make GARBAGE. A mid-ranged Mercedes is better than the beat US made car. You idiots think you work for the UAW. Henry Ford was right. We need knee-breakers to meet lazy union slobs.
I came from Indiana to work for stallantis to provide a stable living for my kids in 2012. Then, less than 10 years, I was given 3 weeks to sell my house, find a place I've never been to and move to Detorit during inflation and now facing a strike. They still owe me 4,711 in profit sharing they stole from me, and I had to claim it when I filed my 2019 taxes. I'm still waiting for my money.
My father retired from thst truck plant also in fenton. im a UAW local 282 with Lear in wentzville.. looks like we got a historic strike this time...god bless us all brother hope your enjoying retirement
@@XRP-MillYou want more money, but you're too stupid to write your native language at an elementary proficiency. You're just like McDonald's employees. You're over paid to make disgusting trash.
whats sad is the cherokee EV/Hybrid is going down to mexico...and theres a perfectly good plant right there that already built the fucking thing....depressing...
I'm with GM for almost 29 years. I've had plants closed. I'm on my 3rd plant. Sometimes you have to transfer if you care about your career. Kids can graduate from any state.
Then where’s your kids going to stay, how will they eat when u have NO JOB??? Do u realize when they close a plant the whole community will suffer, local businesses bars, restaurants, gas stations will all close down. Nobody wants to transfer, but u going to throw away 20+ years and a pension bc your kids Friends and school?? I don’t think so. They’re are making these tough decisions to support their kids.
@@gerardomartinez3920 true not all . But many do seen it with my own eyes. Drive around the country there's a lot of abandoned places in a lot of states.. but not all.
our govt doesn't care. Belvidere is an impressive plant with great workers. But we all know that Mexico works for pennies and tacos. We have no way to compete with that.
@@zach9373I have to ask are you really going to try to blame Biden the guy that removed Trump's anti worker NLRB chief and replaced him with a pro labor chief along with other cabinet members and put forth a bill right away to make it easier to unionize, it's no coincidence that unions are finally making a comeback and wages are finally rising too .
@paul9912 they secured a transfer to another facility, so the last 17 years of my life wasn't a giant waste of time, after the company abandoned us so they could make a nickel more paying 4ft tall brown people 3 dollars a day.
@olivertwist1239 every company does that that's this size with this many locations. The union didn't secure that at all LOL if that's what you paid all that money for out of your paycheck every week enjoy LOL now you don't have a job because of it. If you worked at Family Dollar and they close that location they would give you the option to transfer to another store LOL I guarantee you those foreign automakers that have plants here without unions. I guarantee you those people won't lose their job. Just like this strike you wanted more money. Now you don't have any. Talking about them being greedy and your union wants a 50% wage increase and 32 hours of work but paid for 40. Already making 10 to $20 more an hour more than Toyota or Tesla. Talk about who's being greedy to make a few dollars more? I don't blame them
It's too bad from a customer standpoint as well, the Cherokee was number 1 or number 2 on the American made list for years so it was appealing for that reason. Jeep should have the Compass made in the US and move the Renegade to Mexico. They likely would get better quality and lower costs.
The public doesn't care. They think you shouldn't make the money you made with just a h.s. diploma. They want cheap vehicles and those are from non-domestic manufacturers. And these are people that claim to be patriotic and love the USA.
Sadly the plant is closed. Shame Chrysler. Thankfully those that were able to obtain positions with other Chrysler plants, are truly blessed. Sadly the writing is on the wall, it's like Janesville Wisconsin with GM all over again. ALL residents of Belvidere will soon see effects of the plant closure from income tax, gas tax, school taxes, and property taxes. They will all go up. Shame on the city of Belvidere for not diversifying. Shame on the county of Boone for not diversifying. Both placing eggs all in one basket (Chrysler) is horrible and both the citizens of Belvidere and the Union should be equally angered at the city and the county for not investing and bringing more manufacturing, more jobs. Of course shame on Chrysler for not being transparent. However that's capitalism. The big dogs don't need to share anything. My heart does truly go out to each and everyone.
@frankd.506 a majority of Union plants closed in the United States and moved to Mexico and China. Our manufacturing industry is nothing compared to what it used to be. Because of unions. So you are wrong on that sir.
No rubles for Putin Paul no direct contact, Corporate greed profit over people and the republiklan rewarding outsourcing is the problem not unions, non union companies can't compete with slaves making pennies either .
Why is no one talking about how they forced the uaw to work during covid shutdown without the 15,000 hazard pay? Every1 in america who worked during those days were paid for their services and got great respect like nurses doctors police and firemen, yet i personaly contracted covid 4x giving it to my 3 chilren all under the age of 6,i didnt get a thanks, i got penalties for missing work the third time bc i was unable to breath, almost fired from the disease. Lets start talking about it now.
The union is a laughing stock. You cannot have a union if you want a company to be competitive. People are already lazy naturally. Now on top of that - the union steps in to allow you to be quadruple lazy? It hurts the company and then ruins country. Money does not grow on trees. If you do somthing customer wants, YOU GET MONEY. That’s how it works. I greatly dislike unions because they say to the likes of Elon musk “you are not going to lead me, I am going to be lazy and keep on my job, and you can’t fire me cause I’m union proud ! “. Elon says : Ok, no plant for you. I’ll locate in another town, where people are hard working and enthusiastic about me and my mission
Contract season, they’ll end up putting a product in there. Question is when…. Might be a looong time before workers are called back. Unfortunately the company also has two engine plants, even if Belvedere gets to build batteries, one of the engine plants is almost guaranteed to idle. Then again look at Twinsburg stamping. Brand new beautiful stamping plant, torn down just so operations were all local to Detroit. Could be this situation here as well.
When's the last time the US made a good engine? The Ford straight 6? In 40 years, the government kept these morons working at least twice. I'll NEVER buy UAW trash again
They want slave labor they dont want to pay Americans higher wages. Its like this across all industries in this country. We are all affected in all trades. Keep fighting i know just for myself and others that i work with who are not in the auto industry, we fully support you and pray that the right thing happens for all of you.
@chiefhandlerdespisesthepoo8575 im talking about the fact that they keep sending our work to china and Mexico where they pay them slave wages. They dont want to pay decent wages to Americans they want the benefits of slave labor in other countries, and they wish they could get away with that here. Thank god we live in America, where we fight for our rights.
And to think all of these UAW members were encouraged to vote for Biden & the green new deal. They might as well replace the US Flag with the Mexico flag at that plant now. And to clarify, I am a UAW member with Stellantis. FJB.
The Don rewarded outsourcing he said he'd put a stop to it and just the opposite happened it went up significantly, Biden gave us the Made In America tax credit and is taxing companies that are outsourcing, don't understand why my other comment was taken down I thought I was being nice.
@@zach9373hahaha. Previous President gave LIP SERVICE and didn't do ANYTHING. Stop lying or do some actual research FFS. And stop making this political. It's UAW against the Big 3. Politics should either stay out of it, or support the Workers.
Yall know the automotive business. its ups and downs gotta roll with the punches. im member local 685 indiana and we dont want to see it close either. but seniority will get you to another plant
Stories a hundred times over while the UAW made deals behind closed doors. I feel sorry for the workers of Belvedere I blame both companies Chrysler and UAW
Sorry to hear this but there was a reason they closed belvidere - the Jeep Cherokee no longer fit the company’s portfolio. Also, the quality metric is a bit skewed for vehicles like the Cherokee which are primarily leased and cheap. Customers are less likely to report on issues because they know it’s going back to the dealer after 3 years. Therefore unlike more expensive cars like the Grand Cherokee and Ram there are less complaints per 1000 vehicles.
What? They easily could have allocated other product. And I don't quite understand this connection you're making between lower cost vehicles and quality metrics. I have never heard such a thing in my life. People lease and buy all kinds of vehicles.
@@Jason-kg3oc I work in automotive data analytics. A portion of quality metrics are based off of consumer reports and complaints. A lower cost and/or leased vehicle has a less likely chance for the customer to complain about an issue and dealership to make the repair compared to a more expensive/purchased vehicle. A personal example - I had a leased hellcat charger with miniscule knick in the leather at delivery. I didn’t do anything about it because that would require replacing the entire bench in the back. However, if I purchased the vehicle I would have immediately asked for that to be repaired.
Why should a private business keep a plant open that’s unneeded or unwanted just so they can pay wages UAW “ professionals “ are constantly complaining about?
@@dvdv8197 oh I am serious. This and government workers crack me up. They do this because they can’t possibly find another job making anything close to this crazy pay. I really am shocked any of theses companies have factories in the USA anymore.
