After knowing him as Cooper from Eurotrip for years, I was really impressed with his performance as this character. I woulda dug at least one episode focusing on his character. One the fly episode hangin out with tim and boyd or raylan
That's why it was such a crime to end the show. There were plenty of other characters who could've stepped into the spotlight if Raylen went back to Florida. Should've kept it going like Major Crimes after The Closer...
Gutterson was a just as much a badass as Givens....we just didn't get to see as much of him. If only somebody would come up with a comparable show to take Justified's place. I was hooked after the first episode, and couldn't wait for the next one. Miss it terribly.
Gutterson, is kinda nordic sounding, could Tim be from Minnesota or Illinios or something? Justified with another kind of rural america, preferably one not seen much, so maybe Minnesota, Illinios, Alaska or Nebraska, Montana, wide open ranges for him to snipe in?
One of my favourite things in this show is Art and Raylan both occasionally pausing to just stare at Tim like 'well God damn'. My favourite example is in Veterans when Drunk Tim arrives to get them into the VA, he's bordering into pleasantly rude to both of them and then asks if Art showed the doorman his ass wound. There's this excellent glance Art and Raylan share like 'sorry, what version of Tim is this?!' that to this day makes me howl.
Strong agree, could've done with a lot more Tim and Rachel. But I can understand why they didn't go that way... Boyd and Raylan bounce off each other so well, they wanted to keep the focus there.
There ain't never gonna be another Justified, not only Raylan and Boyd but all characters acted brilliantly down to a T, just finished season 6 and what a gem of show this is!!!!!!
Up to this point, Tim was just another geek in the Marshall's office. The first time this show gives a glimpse into the mind of Gutterson, and they show us a bit of badass.

really though. i mean there were great fucking lines literally every episode that I had to play back once or twice just because of how fuckin badass they were. like that scene where Art is talking about how badass Drew Thompson was lol
Hell yes. My only two complaints of the show are that Winona didn't re-marry Raylan, and Gutterson was criminally underused! To great of a character to not use more of. However, his character comes across as a Raylan 2.0, so I reckon that's why he wasn't used as much.
We didn't get to see it very much, but that look he gives Colt (the baddie in Season 4) when he says, "I wouldn't . You're not drawin' on junkies and dealers now." , was *such* fantastic acting by Jacob Pitts. I don't know why Hollyweird doesn't cast him in more things.
Too wholesome. Doesn't check enough boxes for race, alphabet person, etc. Can't run around giving out good roles to white males these days. Must be someone that identifies as something...Black/Korean lesbian trans woman, etc

Love the scene when a bunch of Hillbilly cops rolled up on Tim and Raylan and the corrupt Sheriff said, all you bring is this one guy? Raylan - Hell if I knew that this was all you got I wouldn't have brought him. Or something to that effect 😅🤣😂
His dialogue with the villain from Iraq in I believe the 4th season big fat dude. Was excellent together. They were like brothers together. Colt was his name!

LEGENDARY!!! Hands down the best casted show of all time. Every character was perfect. Honestly, even the minor/support characters were bad ass, Dewey Crow, Devil, Johnny, all of them. They don't make 'em like this anymore folks.
Only Raylan and Tim should be in the show if started again, with Tim getting more screen time. However it appears Raylan has retired from this show. Let’s give them both a cash incentive to come back. This is real tv.
Sure, a great cast but the two standouts were Damon Harriman as Dewey Crowe - a sublime comedic performance and, possibly better, Jeremy Davies as Dickie Bennett who won the Emmy in 2012 for Best Outstanding Actor. Truly was remarkable. He stole every scene he was in.
I wish I could be that confident about any skill. I work in law enforcement and do my best to appear that confident on a scene but it’s just me lying to myself in a very convincing way. But to be that good at something would be amazing.
I feel so bad for Tim. Everyone thinks he's kind of a douche when really, he's a super sweet and nice guy who just has a dry and sarcastic sense of humor LOL

The surname Gutterson is pretty much German? But Pitts has said his own family is from rural Indiana and when he'd visit he'd adopt their drawl, so that's what he's used for Gutterson.
I would love to see that! But with Pitts not being much of a big name, do you think anyone would pick it up? I wish Amazon Prime would pick up that idea!
The Comedy Bros I think that’s probably, unfortunately, the biggest obstacle. Plus Pitts as a person is pretty low key, I don’t know if he’d take a lead role like that. Since justified he’s had interesting but very small roles but I get the strong vibe that’s a choice he makes. As I understand it, being offered the part in Justified as he was, he negotiated a pretty serious salary and he’s just got energy like a dude who would be more than happy with that. I hope I’m wrong. I’d give my leg for it. We should petition someone. I tweet at Yost but he’s never listened!
While he spent most of his life in Indiana, from my understanding and research (im a writer and have written a DnD character based off Tim) he was raised partially in Texas as well. So you have that slight southern with the mix of the Midwest.
I love this scene, I love the line....but since I saw this I can't UN-see it. When Art drops the file on his desk, it hits the desk set, and lands on top of the pen. After the cut, the pen is upright again.
@@OtherSarah2 that pen was missing before the cut too. The pen in the holder on Art's right is upright and in the holder (other holder empty), Art drops the file folder (6 second mark), then when the cut happens and we get a front view of Art, the pen in the holder on his right is standing upright, the holder on the left is still empty.
To be fair, he was dodging sticks of dynamite that Boyd was throwing at him while chasing him up a hill. More unrealistic would have been Tim actually hitting him.
@@blppt I'd have to go back and rewatch to be sure but as I remember it, the scene I'm talking about is when they're standing outside of the cabin and he's just up the hill when they first spot him. This is before he starts throwing dynamite and before they start chasing up the hill.
He doesn't either. I wish that he would have gotten more screen time, him and Rachel both. I get it, this was Raylan's show but they were such good characters.
The more you know about marksmanship the more you know that even champion shooters do occasionally miss. The bottom-line is as target distance increases so does the need for marksmanship knowledge and skill not needed at lesser distances. Nevertheless it was a cute line in the script.
I always thought they were preparing for Tim to become the main character on the event that Olyphant left to pursue other roles. To bad this great show didn't last that long.
Graham Yost has straight up said ANY return to Justified would probably take the form of a Gutterson spin off.He actually wrote Gutterson FOR Jacob Pitts and no one else after seeing him in The Pacific, called up Pitts and offered him the role, explaining if Pitts didn't take it, Yost would just abandon and re-work the character and probably just focus on Rachel as the only other Marshal.
