I've really learned a ton about the chess match side of football and understanding of all the aspects that go into each individual position watching your videos over the past two years or so, maybe three. Especially when it comes to O-line play being more than big guy smack big guy and bigger guy wins, where that really only works with Aaron Donald 100% of the time. What quarterbacks are actually looking for and how receivers get open and how those things interact with one another were things completely foreign to me until the last twoish years of watching football as a guy who could never really cut it in for real contact sport, allowing me to enjoy the game from new angles and just seeing how things work and now some plays develop and I know they'll work or that they're dead from the start. So my understanding of the game is at least passable now. So thank you for letting me enjoy the game of football and not get bored of it because violence only goes so far on its own.

Indeed. I've been a lifelong [franchise] Madden player, and over the past few years, I've been taking the things that Brett has been teaching on this channel and applying them to my Madden play. It has improved my play, but has also exposed how the video game fails to simulate so much of the nuance of football. So much so that I started making a series of RU-vid critiques called "How Madden Fails To Simulate Football" (ru-vid.com/group/PLP09SVYGwaRJE_95YyXSMpEb3TfDt2Dlz), and every episode so far has used clips from Brett's channel (and others) (with full credit and links to the original sources, along with recommendations to watch them) to let Brett explain these concepts so much better than I could. Brett's videos have not only improved my enjoyment of football as a spectator and fan, and have made me a better student of the game, but it has also improved my Madden play and my ability to recognize what that video game does well and does poorly.

Yea, players spend hours every day during the off-season and season before games watching tape on how they played and how they can apply different plays to help them the next game and also watch the other team and specific players in general and how they can counter them, and that’s where the chess part comes in because offensive and defensive play callers call plays that they believe can counter the other and that’s how we see big plays happen on offense and defense because one play caller outsmarted the other, also how to scheme your offense and defense, how to use wrs to get other wrs open and that becomes the first read, what to do next if that fails, how to spread a defense and bite on certain plays to confuse the quarterback, this game is so much more complicated than what an average fan watches, it’s amazing

The Bears, between 2018 and 2020, were 25-13 in Trubisky's starts. They were only 3-7 when he sat. They're 1-2 this year, and look terrible now that's he gone. The guy that was supposedly the problem. Maybe he wasn't the problem. Maybe, just maybe, he wasn't bad. 2 play off appearances in 3 years. A decent kicker away from a win against the Eagles in the play offs. A catch in the end zone by Mooney on the flicker bomb from Trubisky last year and maybe they upset the Saints in the play offs. He didn't shank those kicks, and he didn't drop that perfect deep ball. Just saying. I think, today, we saw the difference between a good Qb and a bad Qb, but it seems to be the reverse of the average Bears fans perception.

Dan Orlovsky is one of the greatest QB minds in the history of the NFL. If you ignore the 0-16 season or running out the back of the end zone for a safety. Or literally anything else he did in his "career".

Chris Simms is undoubtably the best analyst when it comes to evaluating QBs. He rarely missed and hit massively when he had Pat Mahomes as his best QB in 2017, when everyone was on the trubitski train and he went against the grain the following year by putting lamar jackson and Josh Allen as his top 2 qbs when everyone had baker or darnold at 1. You can’t just dismiss someone who’s been surrounded by nfl wisdom his whole life, dad was a super bowl Qb, he made the nfl and learned from guys like Gruden, and think he doesn’t know what he is talking about because a torn spleen ended his career short. Field has problems, and while Brett is intelligent, he literally called Herbert the next trubitski last year while Simms had him as his second guy behind burrow. The track record leans towards Simms over the youtuber without a doubt

I am so glad you put this together. I think a lot of teams are going to be upset they passed on Justin. It was frustrating listening to sports talk in the morning in February thru April and hear the mostly half thought out rationalizations that were being made as to why guys were getting pushed up the draft boards over him. Also good to see that he may not be going to a coach berift of any offensive acumen, as I was worried Nagi would bury him under terrible schemes and play calling.
@t4d0W
@t4d0W 2 года назад
Maybe those teams will be upset but if the Bears can't put anything for him then he just takes his 2nd contract somewhere else where they already have the pieces for him. Fit is becoming more apparent with the NFL franchises and they won't be afraid to make big moves if it means finding the QB when they have the other parts solved. Which is why some teams are willing to suck and continue building on other pieces until they get in line for a draft year where they get a chance to not only pick a proven starter in the top 1~3, but have the pieces to make them be super productive while on their first contract.

That's 1/8.3 drafts that the 4th QB taken is any good. Culpepper was no good without Moss. Now it's 1/12.5 Drafts and Lamar and Carr are 2 in the last 9 drafts. Now you're hoping 1/12.5 can be 3/9. Good luck. All the other 4th QBs taken end up out of the league or backups within 3 years. In 3/4 of 2022 mock drafts I've seen they have 2 Ohio State wide receivers being drafted in the 1st Round. Remember Mike Evans and Johhny Manziel? This is worse. When have 2 Wide Recievers gone in the top 1 or even 2 rounds and their quarterback succeeded in the NFL? @@jonnycameron2850is so you seriously believe that BS about just cuz he is from OSU, C'mon man lol. Look at all the geats, did they come from 1-2 schools or conferences? Hell no, it's more on the guys intelligence, athletic ability & most important imo coaches in the NFL. Would Tom Brady be the same guy if he went to the Browns or Washington no way! College prepares them some yes, but I don't think it has shit to do with them being a franchise QB. I'm not getting to optimistic but I do believe we are closer then we have ever been to winning playoff games & getting to the SB. I mean look Mitch wasn't the best but yet we got to the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years. Fields is better than him, no doubt lol. @jonnycameron2850 2 года назад
@@Mandy_39 Mitch is good, he had the potential to be our QB for the future til he retires but he was poorly managed. Nagy is an idiot and he kept changing shit on Mitch. One game, Mitch gave up and took reins and he was cruisin' until Nagy told him to quit doing that shit and start listening to Nagy then Mitch was suddenly back to his "bad self". But for that busted QB. No you don't get it. He isn't smart, he is a one-read QB and he will be exposed quicker than you can say, "I'm a dumbass for believing in him!" Name at least one QB to come out of OSU to go on to have a successful career. Protip: YOU CAN'T. He will be Haskins 2.0, Pryor 2.0, Krenzel 2.0 and so on. The Bears need to be sold to a better owner and then the new owner needs to scrape the whole team, save for a few like Mack, Monty, Kmet, Mooney and some more but that busted QB gotta go. Then they need to TRADE for an already established QB that has proved themselves to be great and skillful. WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THAT BUSTED QB OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT HE IS ALREADY A BUST.
