Fields is very scary until you realize he cant beat you passing the ball. so when its time to throw just rush 3 and drop 8 in zone or blitz him and he will shit in his pants. you cant scheme QB's to greatness in the 4th quarter. ultimately, a QB has to lead your team. you cant lead your QB. This is the most spineless display of coaching I have EVER seen. Fields was decisive and absolutely balling through 3 quarters yet the coaching staff once again decides to take the ball out of his hands instead of letting him go out and win the game. This season is supposed to be about evaluating Fields as the answer at QB (I believe he is, but that’s besides the point). But instead of keeping your foot on the gas and seeing whether or not he can win you the game, this coaching staff once again plays “try not to lose” ball and gets conservative. Why? Because they are so scared of losing their jobs that they are praying to squeak out a win against a good team so they have an argument for staying another season. Pathetic.

@darkprometheus

@@JJ-zr6funo it isn't. The defense gave up 3 TDs to the lions hurry up offense. 1 TD just before the half and 2 TDs in the last 3 minutes. Lions saw something in the bears defense and flus couldn't adjust. It's one thing if the offense isn't scoring points but the reality is the offense gave the defense a 12 point lead going into the last 3 to 4 minutes. As a defense, you need to be able to stop a defense from scoring there especially when you know they are going to be one dimensional with the pass game.

I agree. His special mobility and running must be weighed against the loss of not setting the offence up to be successful passing. Bears have a run game. They need a pass game. Fields keeps them one dimensional. Added to that, I don't know if it is a height issue or a mental issue but Fields takes just a tick longer to make reads. This is unlikely ever to be fixed. Why do they keep him? Marketing trumps winning.

It’s obvious what bears are doing. They arent building an offense around fields cause there’s 0 chance he’s a bear next year. Bears will never have that kind of draft capital in a QB stacked draft again. They will trade fields for exactly what he’s worth. They can sign Williams or maye or whoever to a 4-5 year deal for a fraction of what it would cost to keep fields. Fields has 1 cheap year left, only reason why he’s worth something now in a trade. if bears pass on taking Williams or Maye…. To keep fields just to stack a team around him so he looks decent. It doesn’t make sense financially, and doesn’t make sense cause Fields isn’t very good and it’s year 3. A D2 rookie runs the offense just as good almost.

JF needs that Brandon Marshall type receiver to help him out. That big, tall, athletic receiver with a big wing span that can just go up and get it, where the ball doesn't have to be thrown perfect every time, but the receiver can still make a play on it, like Cutler had. I don't watch college football. I don't know if MHJ is that guy or not but they need to identify that guy in the draft or get him in free agency. I want to like Tim… and I do like the way he breaks down most plays… but he tips his hand throughout his analysis. Fact is, he has been unfairly attacking Fields for a good chunk of the season… and because he has painted himself into a corner, he strains himself in this video to pick him apart. THAT SO CALLED TOUCHDOWN that he missed, where you said, “CJ Stroud would have thrown the ball” was borderline idiotic. Stop the film 3 seconds before the wideout finally breaks free, and you will see a Defender 2 inches away from Fields’ face. It is only AFTER Fields evades trouble that the wideout breaks free. With the way our conservative, tight arse coaches preach ball security and considering the way our wideouts are known to run the wrong route, only a fool would have thrown that ball up for grabs while his wideouts were blanketed -- especially not to EQ St.Brown who is a borderline cut/practice squadish type guy/often inactive. DJ Moore he is not! The ONLY wideout we have who has earned that kind of trust, is DJ Moore. Period. For instance, Mooney (a guy I like) self admittedly has times when he is out there running the wrong route... and he is in Year 4. A lot of that - poor coaching. Tim, if you are going to criticize a player, be sure you do the background on the team FIRST. It is a "team" game after all.

This is Fields’ third year in the NFL, and though he has missed a bunch of time (only nineteen starts) his development still seems stuck in rookie mode. Pointing that out is not on JT. It should be recognized by anyone who follows the NFL closely.

Let me know when Fields actually figures out how to throw between the hashes from the pocket. Until he figures that out, along with improving his slow release, fixing his inconsistent footwork, can actually go under center, make proper presnap reads and adjustments, audible out of bad plays, make proper RPO reads and not freeze up in the pocket then get strip sacked JF is a failure and the Bears need to take a QB high in the 2024 draft. Send JF to Atlanta and let Ryan Pace sign him to a long term deal. That'll set the Falcons back another 7 years.

He definitely looked a lot better in the pocket this game but i think you can still see him getting jumpy and scared by pressure. The play at 24:25 (assuming he is actually throwing to the post), its that pressure from his right that gets him. He sees it coming and looks away. Same thing on 42:10. He just looks like he sees 64 getting beat and panics. Moore is the only reliable weapon he has. Scott, Mooney, velus, st. Brown have made too many of his balls look "bad" or overthrown, but in truth, when you watch the film they actually look decent. Imagine mhj opposite Moore 😳 maybe some ol improvements but looking for another qb ain't the answer. The bears need to find an oc that can work with an athletic qb that has a deep ball. @46:43 I watched another video earlier where the host was reviewing the Baltimore Ravens against the Jacksonville Jaguars. To show you the incompetence of the Bears' players: the Baltimore running back looked as if he was trying to take out the knees of the defensive lineman he was executing a cut-block against. Boy-the that defensive lineman ever honor that attack and go head-over-heels. The overpaid in-line tight-end it's just doing a "Golden Retriever snuggle" instead of a legitimate NFL cut-block.
