What he does now and forever will never matter…fact of the matter is MARCELL is and will go down in history as an Olympic gold medalist after bolt. His name is in the history books regardless. Lots of good runners who have never even medaled at any champs let alone the Olympics. You are remember for the bling not the perfomance, in any sport it’s the bling 💍 🏅.
@@DaydreamingTrackWelll...it kind of is fair because his "sports nutritionist" was involved in a drug scandal and he has not been the same in the 100 since they stopped working together.
Not really. If your point was just being remembered for winning the gold yes. But what Kenteris did after that did matter and still does because his gold is tainted in a lot of people's eyes.
One underrated thing about Marcel Jacobs is his ability to maintain composure and stay calm under pressure. He keeps his running form very well. That’s something that might pay off on the big stage. Others could be faster than him, but when the lights cameras and intensity is on, they fold. I don’t think he medals in Paris, but you never know
@@claudiofarina7502yup! 🙌..Wind definitely helped a bit but I really like how he keeps such a smooth form and doesn’t tense up. Running multiple rounds at the Olympics that way will help him save some energy and not blow his load
@@keenannorris3309Uhmmm...blame Bolt. He spoiled Track & Field fans globally by getting us accustomed to FAST TIMES. Hence 9.92 is considered slow by current WORLD standards (Lyles, Thompson, Seville, Tebogo) and the Bolt benchmark.
Jacobs had one hell of a run Euro indoor champ Olympic champ 100 & 4x1 World Indoor champ 60 Euro outdoor champ 100 2x Euro outdoor champ 4x1 Got married Signed a few big contracts . Jacobs is a made man he overachieved
@@user-ki4xw2rb8q yea I’m with ya. However Jacobs had a streak where he kept pulling out of meets that’s where the negativity started also it was a scandal around his original training camp. Jacobs overall has done well
I tell my athletes I train … you only have to win 1 event in your life .. the Olympic Final … ( I literally showed my athletes how it’s possible to qualify and get to the Olympics by coming second!) …. If you win that final … EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING else is irrelevant ( world records, rankings etc). Go ask any athletes in any sport ( where the Olympics is the Pinnacle ) …. If they would give back everything they have ever won just for that Gold Medal … and all serious athletes will give the same answer.. yes. Once you have won one Olympic gold … that is it you can retire ( sure if you want to win more medals that up to you). Understand what an Olympic Gold in athletics means … On the day it counted, against the best in the World , where everyone has trained specifically for that race … you won.. you ARE the best in the world. Full stop, no excuses, no arguments nothing… It doesn’t matter if Marcel Jacobs never runs a race in his life again … He has an Olympic Gold medal in the 100m! There are ONLY 10 men still alive today that can say that! There are only 9 Countries that have ever won gold in the 100m in the History of the Olympics USA, South Africa, Great Britain, Canada, Germany, USSR, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Italy!!! Let that just sink in for a while !
Today 9.92 for Jacobs, honestly i would be scared if i was a contender. Omanyala is always a bluff, he can make under 9.9 only in Kenya. 9.90 of the cuban Montoya is a joke, they must cancel that time. So it's 3rd best time of the year for Jacobs. It's him, seville and lyles for the medals. I don't see others.
now he just won the european again and today he ran a 9.92, constantly running faster each time since the europeans, getting in shape for olympics. I wonder if Mr. Gatlin is still of the same opinion about him
Jacobs ran 9,80. You don’t run that by accident. Let’s not forget it would’ve beaten Bolt in the prior olympics: and that only Bolts 9.69 and 9.63 times were faster. Put some respect on his name. This is nothing like the 2003 championships where the quality of the field was low and the winner ran 10.07. That said, doesn’t look like he’s close to that peak again and don’t expect him to factor in the final.
ahahaha, he will never run 9.7s and thats what it takes to win olympic gold. Jacobs was juicing hard during 2020 and remarkably got to a level he has never approached again.
@@2011hwalker9.80 gets you a gold at every Olympics besides 2008 and 2012. Even 2016 when bolt will his last gold he ran 9.81 so it is no guarantee that you need 9.7 to win gold. Although it does look very possible this year with 3 athletes who have pb's in the 9.7s one who has done it twice (omanyala) and another who has some it 3 times (kerley)
@2011hwalker he is in better shape then before the tokyo olympics, his pb before the olympics is 9.95, but now he ran 9.92. He could go faster than 9.8
There are a lot of talk about Jacobs on the internet. For me, he is a superb runner and no "one hit wonder". He won the Olympics in both 100 and the relay, the indoor world championship in 60 meter, the European Championship in 100 meter, so with this record of achievements we have to view him as a very successful sprinter. In Oslo this year, it still doesn't look perfect technically for him. In this race it also looks like he's limping if you look carefully. We'll see if he manage to get everything in order to the Olympics. With Paolo Camossi as a coach he reached very good results. Now his coach is Rana Reider. Future will tell if Reider is the right guy for Jacobs. I'm not sure about that. But as I said, future will tell.
It wasn’t a fluke, Carl Lewis. However he got the perfect storm like Carl Lewis. The problem is he’s not running 9.7s in an era where 4 guys run that time. Two of those guys bookend his 1 championship win (Kerley and Coleman). He hasn’t beaten either of those guys since. In any 60m race he’d not be seeded over Coleman and Lyles. With the emergence of Lyles and Oblique only he’s not time seeded, he’s area seeded vs Zharnell Hughes. Bolt has changed the metric for greatness by winning 3 Olympic 100m finals. There was a time when winning one was enough to cement your legacy and I think Jacobs’ legacy is cemented. He beat all-comers!
@@Hengel_AndrewsI didn't say your grammar was wrong, I said I didn't understand due to your grammar. And I didn't say I didn't understand at all, I said I didn't understand exactly what you said. But I'm from Sweden and know that there are a lot of things I don't understand when it comes to english. For example, when it comes to idioms and slang in english, I can be totally lost. Or on a more comical note, when I hear Fred Kerley or Trayvon Bromell speak, I'm lost too. One time though, I came into an argument with a guy on the internet about an expression he used, and just out of curiosity I took our argument to a english speaking professor in the english language at Stockholm University. And that time he confirmed my suspicion and gave me right in the matter we were discussing. There was simply more to it than my adversary realized. I'm not saying this is the case right now, it was just a story I found interesting. And I wanted to share it with you.
@@Ezigoing not really looking for anything my point is just that he was far from a 9.8 guy before his 9.8 he ran in the olympic final, so That he's far from a 9.8 guy now is not itself like a reason to to think he's not going to run 9.8 again. I dont know if That's something you disagree with but that was just my point. But im not really looking or hoping for anything. Im just looking forward to the olympic games to see high level track and field and see who is the best.
Guys research Kishane Thompson from Jamaica 🇯🇲. He's not very popular as yet because he doesnt run much and was injured. But his name will be in the media alot more at the end of this month. You heard it first here😊
Associating Jacobs with the word fluke is disrespectful to him. No way can a man win the Olympics and it be a fluke. He was the best on the day and that is saying a lot.
@@loopvil369 that's insane logic. you could say the others in the race did not race to their capabilities but Jacobs ran 3 PR's in a row, peaking at the perfect time. That's perfection, not fluke.
hahaha ok bro. He went from 10.1 to 9.8 by "harder training" lmao. He was juicing hard in 2020, when testers couldnt test athletes because of the hysteria around covid. Complete fraud.
@@karaokekingskingdomwell that's if you man you have to win gold to not be a one hit wonder. We can take gatlin for example. He won good in 04 and never again but he still got plenty of medals whereas jacobs hasn't even medaled at a world championship since 21. And he probably won't do it again because he's already in his 30s and that's to many people running faster than him
@@wesleyowens4089 Personally i would rather go down as olympic champion and (and potential record holder/breaker) not win anything else rather than vice versa.
@@epicperson137 And Omanyala recently Still, there's no way his winning it. I give him non-automatic qualifier at best for the final, otherwise he won't make it.
Marcell is an Olympic gold medalist so regardless what will happen he will be remembered by many people, especially as an Italian. Having said that, it is clear that he lacks of consistency and he will struggle reaching the final this year. He managed to go around 10 seconds in Finland recently (which is good) but people like Noah Lyles are currently on another level.
It's hard but he can win! He started with 9.94 SB in 2021 and 6.47 at 60m indoor. In 2024 he didn't run indoor running 9.92 SB. He potentially goes to the PB depends how run in the heats and SF, if he arrives wasted in the final...but he is one of the potential winners. The others showed bad timing to be healthy, to lead the peak of form exept lyles,de grasse, (coleman so and so..kerley so and so, simbine, omanyala so and so). In 100 meters I see Jacobs after Lyles, but really close!
In jacobs 2021 season, he only ran sub 10 once before the olympics. He was consistently at 10 flat that whole season. Hes also consistently at 10 flat this season. he knows how to peak and he will do it at the olympics.
Injury isn’t an excuse, if we give Jacobs that. Well Coleman was suspended in 2021, Bromell was injured in 2021, if both men were available they’d have beaten A heathy Jacobs. A healthy Jacobs wasn’t going to beat Kerley in 2022 either.
I wonder if people would be calling it a fluke if he was representing USA or Jamaica? He came and ran the fastest time in the most high pressure race - no one who should have been there was missing and no one high profile pulled up injured. He also ran 9.84 in the semis and 9.8 in the final - no human being alive can fluke a 9.8 let alone twice - you run those times because of the work you have put in.
Lamont Marcel Jacobs' 1st Place win was definitely NOT a fluke. It was a win against "B level", journeyman competition. You can tell that he's taking it easy during his Drive Phase, to make sure that he doesn't re-injure himself before he arrives in Paris.
I trust Jamaican and American sprinters more. The consistency they exude is world class. In Europe they can focus on the field track.Don’t attack me 😂😂😂😂😂
JACOBS 9.92 easily... don't understimate him... he has a unique mindset Then there's chituru ali 9.96 (first time under 10 sec for him), he's improving fastly... Italy's gonna win 4x100 again
I am not a fan and don't see it happening again. However, the fact is that he is the reigning Olympic champion and did win the indoor 60m dash. As for the European titles, he could have walked backwards and still win, so there is that.
The Africans, Caribbeans and North Americans have nothing to worry when it comes to the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay looking at the times I just witnessed in the european athletes competition. All medals will be going to the top 3 I just mentioned 💯
@@dijkb You can say all that but the Italy that won all the events in the European athlete competition beat any of the records that have been set by the Americans....... am waiting........
@@destro4450 I got nothing against Italy, I just like mocking the arrogant americans. the US boys and girls are fast but they are 4 individuals and not teams. Italy this years is fast and is a team. The USA have a habit of dropping the baton or doing .changeovers outside the zone.
I am not a Jacob’s fan but he looked good in the European champs , especially the relay. Maybe he was injured on and off or maybe he plays with TUES , who knows . On another note why does Kerley get a pass? He makes bold statements on Instagram and hasn’t backed up one of them in the last 2 years. After a bold statement on Instagram that doesn’t come to pass the very next day on Instagram he’s unaccountable and bragging again, he’s gone to one of my favorites to I don’t know what is with him. Thoughts. I am open to legit disagrement.
I think Kerley is not alright. It's sad, if I were someone near him I'd go for an intervention... He needs to get well again and stop running his mouth, it's getting embarrassing and it's hard to watch...
Big fan of Jacobs here, but i doubt he will win again. Maybe medal, i hope, but winning is very hard, the comoetition isn't here to play, and the field is stacked. He has been a fragile athlete all his carreer, since when he was in long jump (which he left cause of injuries). He looks good again, but not in the same shape, and he kept having a lot of issues that didn't allow him to train as well as he needed to. I hope I'm wrong thou.
I believe marcell was on the juice so was Elaine, they both were training in Italy, and i also believe shacarri is on the juice too, cause Justin Gatlin said it from is own mouth we are going back to the lab, after she lost that big race and since then she almost been undefeated.
Jacobs used to regularly make semis and occasionally a final..after the glory and then the injury he's obviously hit a plateau. I put his odds at 50/50 he gets back to the final again. Podium? Less than 10% chance.
Me personally I don't give a fuck about a world champion or a Olympic champion. I need 9.79 or bellow. We speak in God leve when in comes to the 100m. Injury can cause a title. False start can cause a title or give you a title. You got to earn it through times because that puts you on God level and pays you
Jacobs is a 9.9 runner who, for literally one calendar day in 2021, became a 9.8 runner. And he picked a great day to do it! Does that make him a fluke? Well, being a 9.9 runner is pretty darn good. But was him winning the Olympic title an outlier? Clearly. Is he a historically great 100m runner? No. Does that mean he's a fluke? I guess it depends on how you define the word. But I'm not sure it really matters at the end of the day. You ain't taking his titles from him. And he has more than most people.
Jacobs rarely has run even 10 flat since Tokyo so in that sense he's a fluke but on the flip side he's been consistently injured or on the cusp of being injured. Let's see what happens in Paris.
Absolutely his win was a Fluke and so was Noah Lyles 100m world championship win a fluke. I respect Noah's 19.31 all day and that put him in a all time great status but if you not in the 9.7 you are not a sprint God. I hear this saying of you can't take away a championship and I agree but you can't compare classes either and you can't take away that either. Flo Jo isn't Alive to compete for awards but times is what gives you God status. Every athlete that has been bellow 9. 80 is a God in my opinion. Gatlin is a guy who has done it so much. Gatlin did 9.85 as a 35 plus year old and that is sick. Placed 2nd to a youngest in the world championship. That was amazing at that age. I don't respect 9.8 and above on the Olympic and World championship level at all anymore. Fuck champions. I want to see the Gods and Gods compete with each other through times and this is how I compare them. The media cares about championships. I care about times only
If I could put a millions pound on him not winning then I would, he kinda fluked that final in my opinion even though he is an amazing athlete he now has got no chance with the competitors now as I reckon the winning time will have to be a 9.7 at least
I don’t like the fluke talk, you have to stay healthy for the entire season and anything can go left at any practice or race or even at home. It was his time.
@GreekboyyD He won't. These are world class sprinter and Gatlin is a all time great. He understands the difference between personal best vs your average. Jacobs is not running 9.8 again
Theese are expert, people that know the material 8obviously I'm not talking about Gatlin)... 24 hours later this sentence Jacobs ran in 9,92 sec... Listen to me: try another hobby. P.S. obviously is not the favourite but his progression (10.19 - 10.07 - 10.05 - 10.03 - 9.99 - 9.92) is a serious thing.
Bro..he ALSO WON 4x100 mt Olympic Gold. And now he just won GOLD again in European Championships 100 mt *AND* gold in 4x100 mt 🤣🤣 Just because he's italian and he didn't choose his father nationality (US) he gets all the hate 😂
Absolute drug cheat. You don't make those kinds of crazy improvenents in such a short period of time. How people believe he wasn't juiced out of his mind is eye-opening
@@leedza yes, he shocked the world. He came out of nowhere, and then went right back to relative obscurity. It’s the only year he’s ran 9.8x. Tyson Gay, Yohan Blake as fast as they were in their prime don't have that individual Olympic gold.
Jacobs wants even a name in sprinting before he won. Natural ability doesn't just turn up and make you surpass your ability all of a sudden. All 100m WR's are doped athletes. He and Bolt somehow surpassed genetically modified athletes natural lol. How many struggles to run 10's 4-6 weeks ago but now USA, Kenya and the rest running well under 10's. We done even know the half of what goes in with doctors or the teams they have to help dope. That's all sports not just athletics.
